With unanswered questions to the outside world on how UW would replace Danielle Lawrie in 2011, the Husky coaches and student-athletes knew they had what it took to win another national title and that was their goal. Despite falling just short of the WCWS, dropping two games to Missouri in the Super Regionals, the Huskies but had another successful year and made their 18th-straight postseason appearance. There were several highlights throughout the season, such as being the last team undefeated in the country at 20-0; reaching as high as No. 4 in the country; breaking numerous records at the plate on opening weekend; and saying goodbye to three great seniors, Jenn Salling, Morgan Stuart and Ashley Tuiasosopo. UW earned the right to host the NCAA Regional once again, and went a perfect 3-0 with wins over Portland State and BYU (twice). UW ended the season at No. 12 in the final NFCA poll and No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. Washington finished tied for sixth in the Pac-10 with a 9-12 record and was one of seven of the eight Pac-10 teams to make the tournament and one of six league schools to advance to Super Regionals, receiving an at-large bid. In it's 19-year history, the Huskies have made the tournament 18 times. The Huskies have been to 10 WCWS including the last two years and of course winning the 2009 National Championship. Last year the Huskies swept through the Regional, defeating North Carolina (twice) and North Dakota State. UW also hosted its first Super Regional in 2010, taking the best-of-three series vs. Oklahoma. Head coach Heather Tarr has an impressive postseason record.
