Simmons Galesburg Networking: 6:30 7:00p.m. Dinner: 7:00p.m. Meal : $10 each Andrew Fritz of Spoon River Landscaping talked about landscaping maintenance and curb appeal at our May WIBA Membership Meeting. The first thing to improve your curb appeal is to paint the door. Then, do something with the front entrance. Enlarge the sidewalk. Make it at least 40 and draw the eye to the door from the driveway. Ornament with flowers, shrubs, and lights. Choose your color palette before shopping. Select annuals to plant for instant gratification. Plant them in front of perennials or in a planter box. Plant in multiples of 3 s, 5 s, 0r 7 s. Add a handrail if there is not one. Leave enough room to open the door out without someone having to back up and potentially fall. He recommends planting perennial Hydrangeas because they are so versatile with sun, shade, dry, and water. They also have dwarf species available. There are a variety of colors of blooms like green, white, pink and in the fall they turn red or purple and still look nice. Add patios and fire pits. Make it larger than you think you want to include visiting company. At the minimum, make it 12 x`12. You can stain, seal, and color your concrete and/or pavers. Haven t we been lucky with the weather? What a great season! We have been building and repairing up a storm. We had a wonderful WIBA Golf Outing this year. There was lots of joking and laughing going on. They are always a good time! Thank you to all the WIBA Golf Committee, event volunteers, sponsors, door prize donators, golfers, & diners. We have some new speakers lined up for the WIBA Membership Meetings this fall and we hope you enjoy them, make some new connections, and maybe learn something new.
