Ensure you have two white lights, one red light, and one green light for the navigation a. Test the lights to ensure proper function and to double check for correct colors. Starting with one of the white lights at the rear of your kayak position the light so that the wire extends toward the front of the boat. a. Provide you with extra wire before inserting the wires into the wire nut. a. Always test the light after making a splice in the wires

Run the wire(s) such that there will be about of slack at the desired switch location. a.if tying wires into one another you must use Marine Goop at all splices b.

Connect the lead lines of the switches to the red wire of the main power lead. a. Ensure you use a blue wire nut and Marine Goop for the connection.

Test all lights after making a splice to ensure you have a good connection You will need a main power lead that will go from the switches to the battery. a. Ensure the main power lead will be long enough to go from the switches to the battery with 8 of slack. Connect the lead lines of the switches to the red wire of the main power lead. a. Ensure you use a blue wire nut and Marine Goop for the connection. Connect all the black wires of the lights to the black wire of the lead line a. Ensure you use a blue wire nut and Marine Goop for the connection. Attach the red wire for the navigation lights to the remaining lead on one of the switches. a. Ensure you use a blue wire nut and Marine Goop for the connection. Attach the red wire for the bug lights to the remaining lead on one of the switches. a. Ensure that you use a grey wire nut and Marine Goop for the connection

6 a. Ensure that you use a grey wire nut and Marine Goop for the connection 7 Test all lights by hooking the main power lead to the battery and testing the switches. a. At this time also note which switch powers which lights.

At this time also note which switch powers which lights. 8 Place the battery in the desired location. 9 Crimp the female terminals included with the kit to the free ends of your main power lead. a. You can use heat shrink around one of the terminals to annotate which is the power and which is the neutral line if desired. 0 Test all lights and connections by hooking the main power lead to the battery and testing the switches. Place the battery into the dry bag and roll bag shut with extra main power lead wires, or mount battery in battery bag.

Since every kayak is different there is no hard measurement for switch positions, therefore you must ensure that your switch(es): i. Will not interfere with rudder lines or internal structures of the kayak ii. Will be convenient to reach iii. Will not be accidently bumped on or off iv. Will not interfere with kayak egress and ingress v. Will not interfere with paddling When you are happy with the placement of the switch, mark a spot on the boat with a pencil or dry erase marker so you can erase and remark if necessary. a. Ensure that the spot you have chosen will not interfere with or sever a rudder line or any other internal structures. If using more than one switch an ideal measurement for locating other switches is cm from mark the initial mark. Once you are sure about your placement drill a /6 hole at your mark. Unscrew the rubber cover from the switch (es). 6 Insert the switches through the underside of the kayak and place into corresponding /6 holes. a. Place the Navigation lights in the easiest to r bug lights. This places the switches in order of most frequent use. 7 Begin screwing rubber switch covers back onto switches to lock switches into place. a. Ensure all switches are lined up such that the up position switches lights on, and down switches them off.

10 i n n Light nting Using 8 zip ties strap the wiring so that it is out of the way a. Since every kayak is different there is no perfect place for wire management, therefore you must ensure that your wiring: i. Will not interfere with rudder lines or internal structures of the kayak ii. Will not be pulled loose when putting items in the hatches When you are happy with the wire management you can prepare the mounting surface for mounting the lights. Using a clean paper towel wet with acetone, thoroughly wipe the area of the kayak where you intend to place each light. Follow up by wiping the area again with the kit provided isopropyl alcohol pad. Break the glass vial inside the priming pen and squeeze until the tip is saturated with the priming liquid. 6 7 Liberally apply the primer to the area where the lights will be, from the hole you drilled outward to just beyond the length of the light strips. Wait minutes after applying the primer before removing the backing to the self adhesive strips on the lights.
