Leader Board 5:30 pm Ag Adventures Fashion, Food, Fitness Club Our next meeting will be held Jan. 17th at 4:00 pm. We need to have at least 5 youth to make this club continue for the rest of the year. Dues are $12. If you would like to attend, we meet at the 4-H office. The Franklin 4-H office will be closed on January 19th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will re-open on January 20th at 8:00 am. pages/lsu-agcenter- Cooperative-Extension-Franklin- Parish-Office Beef Poster Contest Entries will be due January 30, There are 3 divisions: 4th- 6th grades, 7th-9th grades, and 10th-12th grades. All 1st place winners in each division will have their entry go to the state competition. Make sure you get a flyer and submit an entry. All the details are on the flyer. Make sure you follow the guidelines. White poster board must be used and it must be 11 x 14. All other sizes will be disqualified. 2 H Honey Bee Essay Contest Topic: Planting for Bees from backyards and up. Essays must be double-spaced, 12-pt times or similar type style. Must be submitted by 1/26/15. I need to have the essay ed to me by 1/25/15. Only ed submissions from the 4-H agent will be judged. Contact 4-H agent if interested in details. Parish winner goes onto to State and then the National level. January Contest-Photography 4th-6th grades need to submit 5 pictures. 7th-12th grades need to submit 10 pictures. The photography portfolio should showcase the 4-H ers photography skills, consists of 5 or 10 white, 8 1/2 x 11 pages of pictures taken within the past year. Pages should be white and placed in a suitable binder. NO Captions. A cover page with name and parish should appear first. A 1 or 2 page story (typed, double-spaced, with 1 inch margins). Story should be about the 4- H er and their interests in photography as well as telling why you selected the 5 or 10 photos. Portfolios will be judged on choice of subject, composition, depth of field, sharpness, lighting, exposure, and skill. Photos can be black/white, color; from film or digital. Edit, edit, edit show only your best work. Photography entries are due January 28th, Please include the entry form from the flyer on the inside cover of your binder. Thank you. Jr. Leaders Jr. Leaders Tiona Harris and Derrick Austin helped to decorate the 4-H tree at Civitan Park before the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks for all the help. Bullying Poster Contest Winners. 4th-6th grade: 1st place Macy Reeves, FCCS 2nd place Ivy Flint, Baskin 7th-9th grade: Sarah Halterman, FCCS 10th-12th grade: Amanda Kincaid, FCCS Character Counts: Character Development Pillar of Citizenship: Do you help your community and school become a better place? Do know what the rules are for your home, school and community? Do you follow them? Do you protect your natural surroundings? What about respecting authority? These are just a few of the qualities that make some have good citizenship. Others are staying informed and voting when possible, being a good neighbor, obeying laws and rules, respecting authority, protecting the environment, making your school and communities better. Lester C. Thurow: Ethics will be restored when most individuals come to the realization that they play for a common team.

No trademarks or slogans! Be creative. Look for more information on the flyer 4-H T-shirt design contest. 3 divisions. 4th-6th; 7th-9th, 10th-12th. Theme is Franklin 4-H. We ll hold this contest during the club meeting. You ll need to either wear your shirt or bring the shirt to the club meeting in February. Sign up by January 28th. Flyer has information and entry label. The months of February and March we will be holding our public speaking contests. There are 2 divisions: 4th-6th and 7th -12th. You have several different contests you can enter. You may only choose one to enter. You will need to sign up by the end of January to participate. We will hold the contests during the club meetings. Your 4-H leader will have the information about the ambassador talk contests. Think about what you would like to enter.
4 State 4-H Food & Fitness Camp is scheduled for March 21-22, This is a Saturday and Sunday. The event will be held at Camp Grant Walker. It is designed for 4th-6th graders. This camp is considered a family camp (one camper/one adult). Adults who attend need to have completed the 4-H overnight chaperone training. Space is limited to 60 families. Cost is $75 per family each additional family member is $40. This is an online registration. Deadline to register is February 20, Payment must be made at this time. Please come to the 4-H office in the courthouse (Winnsboro) to register for this camp. If you are interested in participating in the NE Delhi Horse Show on January 31st, please contact the 4-H office for the registration forms Forms have been sent to those already expressing an interest in showing horses. Forms are due January 24th to the Richland 4-H office. You are responsible for getting your own tickets and transportation to the game. Remember that Ag Expo is January 16 & 17, 2015 at the Ike Hamilton in West Monroe.
