The Berri Barmera Council also approved the additional funding to get the project to tender stage for the specification, building plans, engineers reports etc. Next Step-Berri Rec Centre representatives will be meeting with Colin and Berri Drafting and Drilling on a regular basis to discuss what needs to go into the final drawings etc. It is predicted that the project will go out to tender by the end of the year. Meanwhile New Clubrooms Project heading for tender Our Platinums troupe and coaches have been getting some pit time in Adelaide, learning all about foam pit training, safety, skills and games ready for our own pit to be built. Our Vision is that the Berri District Youth Club Inc. is recognised within the community for developing gymnastics as the best physical and personal activity for the youth in the area. Our Mission is to provide the opportunities for all members regardless of sex, race or ability to develop their involvement, skill level and personal satisfaction in their chosen sport.

2 Parent Reminders Fees-All first and second term gymnasts should have paid all their fees. Members still owing fees have been sent an invoice which needs to be paid before they can commence Term 3 classes. Please leave all jewellery at home This includes earrings, watches, rings, bangles, necklaces etc. These are not to be worn during gym sessions as they can get tangled in clothing, scratch people or damage the equipment. If you forget please ask your coach to keep your items in the group box till the end of your session. Note-stud earrings are ok. No loom bands or bobby pins These small items are a chocking hazard for our Kindergym babies and toddlers. Please leave these at home. No skirts Skirts are not suitable for gymnastics activities like turning upside down etc. Please dress your child in appropriate attire such as shorts, leggings or leotard. Long Hair Shoulder length hair or longer must be tied up (including boys) and long fringes clipped back. Gymnasts need to see where they are going especially if they are upside down and long hair can also flick into their eyes or someone else's. Viewing Room All footwear must be placed under the chairs (not in the door ways). Water Bottles Don t forget your water bottles even on cold nights. Extra water is available from the kitchen if needed. Please ask your coach for assistance. Lost Property-a box is kept in the viewing room for all lost property. Please make sure you name all your belongings for easy return. All unclaimed items are sent to goodwill at the end of each term. Dress in layers to keep warm-leotard, t-shirt & shorts, tracksuit, socks and slip on shoes. Remember -no denim clothing, hoodies, belts, buckles or buttons.

3 Mammoth Monash Market Display 38 Gymnasts took part in the display. Thank you to all the coaches, parents and siblings who helped with the equipment. Great to see so many gymnasts regularly participating in our community displays. Well done!! Note-our next display will be held at the Our Lady of the River Primary School Fiesta in Berri on Friday 7th November. Berri Junior Gymnastics Competition This year we received 91 entries for the junior competition which is almost double the entries of last year. Congratulations to all the gymnasts who took part. A big thank you to the committee, coaches, judges, scorers, runners, helpers etc. We have had lots of wonderful comments and reports back from parents and participants. Well done!! 4 Gymnaestrada Fundraising The Gymnaestrada Troupe are continuing their fundraising for their Helsinki trip, please let us know if you can help. Annie in Concert Thank you to everyone who supported our Dinner Show fundraiser. Those who attended the night enjoyed a fabulous show from the Riverland Musical Society and we thank them very much for selecting our Gymnaestrada Troupe as the fundraising recipient. Thank you also to Ed & Judy s Bush Cooking for a great meal and to the Berri Resort Hotel for helping us stock our bar and donating a raffle prize. Thank you to all the local business who donated prizes and to the committee, coaches, parents and gymnasts who did a wonderful job on the night; setting up, decorating, serving tables, bar tending, washing dishes and all the cleaning up afterwards. The Troupe also finished the evening with a great display. Well done!!! Cadbury Chocolates The troupe sold 61 boxes, what a fantastic effort!! Thank you to everyone who helped out by taking a box home-10 BCM points are coming your way! Holiday Gymnastics Program Thank you to all the gymnasts who brought their friends along for our holiday fundraiser. Thank you to Coles Berri for donating the pies and sausage rolls. Still to come Berri Pacemakers Bingo Sunday 7 th September at The Berri Resort Hotel s Cocos Room. Earn 10 Best Club Member points by donating something for the raffle, making a plate of supper or coming along on the day. We need people to attend to make it a success, so grab your granny, neighbours, friends and relatives for a fun afternoon. Riverland Field Days Drinks Van Friday 19th & Saturday 20th September Please let us know if you can help. 10 Best Club Member points up for grabs. If you are already going to the event, don t forget to visit our van with your friends and family. $500 Grant Win The Berri Barmera Council s Youth Sport and Cultural Sponsorship Grant was won by our troupe members Tahlia Price, Imogen Santos, Belinda Rayner and Levi McFarlane. Each gymnast will received $125 towards their Helsinki trip.

5 2nd Hand Stall The Gymnaestrada Troupe also have a second hand stall running in the club shop, open in-between each gymnastics session for your convenience. Childrens Clothing-$2.00 each (jeans, tops, jumpers, dresses, long pants) Adults Clothing- $2.00 each (shirts, jeans, jumpers, coats, scarves) Evening Dresses-$20.00 each Shoes-$5 & $10 (sandshoes, evening and work shoes) Nic Nacs 50c, $1, $2, $5 & $10. (Cookbooks, novels, ornaments, printer cartridges). Bikes $25 each Important Reminders Club Shop Uniform purchases can only be made before or after each gym session. At all other times this room is used for coaches and committee only. No one is to enter the room unless they are accompanied by a coach or committee member. Car Parking Reminder Parking out the front of the hall and parallel parking by the pine logs is reserved for coaches and committee only. Please use the members car park at the side of the building. Drop and Go is banned by the club as there is not a safe place to do so. Note-Those who continue to ignore the club rules will be subject to the committee s disciplinary actions which may result in your membership being cancelled.

6 Coaches Corner New Qualifications Congratulations to Kathy Hannett for passing the Beginner coaches course held in Adelaide recently. Welcome Back Former BDYC coach Wendy Rosenthal will be helping out in the clubrooms, marking the role, cleaning, canteen, club shop and odd jobs. Welcome back to the team Wendy!! Welcome back Jody Scott how has returned to the gym floor after having baby number two. Jody is an Accredited coach with a supervisors qualification and a certificate in Senior first aid and she is also a committee member. Great to have you back in the gym Jody!! Kindergym Kids Donation of equipment-thank you to Renmark North Primary School and Renmark High School who recently delivered 2x strip mats, a set of parallel bars, vaulting horse and 2x floor balance beams to the clubrooms. The schools are no longer using the equipment and have kindly donated them to the club. The equipment will be used to help fit out the permanently set up Kindergym area in the new clubrooms. BDYC 50th Anniversary and Reunion Dinner Saturday 4th October (long weekend) Tickets $50 per person and can be purchased on-line. Memorabilia Wanted We are currently looking for old club uniforms to be worn in the Fashion Parade at the 50th Anniversary dinner. If you have a boys or girls uniform from the 60 s, 70 s or 80 s, old photos of club competitions, events etc, badges or items of interest please bring them into the clubrooms asap. Requirements-Police check, able to attend meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month.
