2 Rehearsal Timetable for PRE-PRIMARY, PRIMARY & MINI MOVERS CLASSES SUNDAY 27 TH NOVEMBER DRESS REHEARSAL at KOTB STUDIOS (ACT 1) COSTUME TRY-ONs: All costumes will be arranged at the studio during rehearsal, (No Hair & Make-up or tights required. However, to assist please have hair tied back in a neat ballet bun and secured off faces with lots of pins to last the entire rehearsal). Please arrive wearing a leotard if in either The Nutcracker ballet (Primary Ballet classes OR Dolls (Pre-Primary Ballet). Please wear KOTB class uniform/dancewear for other classes. Definitely no tutus or dress-up costumes to be worn to rehearsal. SUNDAY 27 TH NOVEMBER STAGE MAKE-UP DEMONSTRATION During rehearsals, there will be an information session for all parents needing advice and assistance on how to apply stage make-up for KOTB students for the concert in the café area. SATURDAY 3 RD DECEMBER PHOTO DAY FULL COSTUME (Hair & Make-Up required.) Class times to be announced after first weekend (we will try to be as close to normal Saturday class times as possible). SUNDAY 11th DECEMBER DRESS REHEARSAL/FULL RUN OF SHOW at KOTB STUDIOS 8.30am 10.00am : All ballet students in The Nutcracker 10.00am 11.00am : Finale 11.00am 12.00pm : Remaining Act 1 (no ballet included) MONDAY 12th DECEMBER FULL TECH RUN - GOLD COAST ARTS CENTRE STAGE DOOR GOLD COAST ARTS CENTRE BUNDALL FULL COSTUME NO HAIR OR MAKEUP REQUIRED TIMES TO BE ADVISED - exact times will be advised from the Arts Centre in due course however, as a guide we will required all our junior students from approximately 8.30am 11am. ARRIVE FOR CONCERT 5pm AT STAGE DOOR AT REAR OF ARTS CENTRE... Be at the Stage Door (at the rear of the Arts Centre), with full hair and makeup done and in first costume (fully covered by big 5pm. Show begins at 6pm. NB: Under 5 s Parents please do not leave make-up kit with students in the dressing room as they like to play with it while waiting. We have a studio make-up kit which we will use for any touch-ups. Each child will be provided with a named costume tub. Please place all your child s items clearly labelled and organized. Ensure your child has a snack, SPILLPROOF water bottle and shirt to cover their costume while they eat. We recommend an old button up shirt. Please make sure your child has had an early dinner before arrival.

3 Important Information For your childrens security all rehearsals operate under lockdown. You will only be able to drop off your children to our staff at reception for rehearsals, you will not be able to accompany them into the rehearsal area. NO parents are admitted other than backstage helpers and volunteers. This will allow even the youngest of children to get used to the concert routine and become familiar with their dressing room helpers. As this is one of the main issues at rehearsals, please prepare yourself and your child for this. For Dress Rehearsal on Sunday 27 November (ACT 1) costumes will be ready at the studio for try-ons and rehearsal, but no makeup or concert hairstyle is required on this day. Arrivals times are as follows. Please note these as it is the first major rehearsal sometimes things take a little longer than expected so please be patient. Below is a guide only am : NUTCRACKER Mice (Primary Ballet) am : NUTCRACKER Soldiers (Grade 1) pm : UP (Pre-Primary Jazz Wed & Sat classes) pm : TOY STORY (Primary Musical Theatre Tues) pm : IT S A PARTY (All Mini Movers classes) pm : DOLLS (All Pre-Primary Ballet Tues, Wed & Sat classes) pm : QUEEN OF THE WAVES (Pre-Primary Jazz Mon & Fri classes) pm : SHOOP SHOOP (Primary Jazz Wed & Sat classes) Only Photo Day on Saturday 3 rd December and the actual Concert night on Monday 12 th December require full hair and makeup. Although this isn t required at dress rehearsals, it is a good opportunity to practice; otherwise hair must be neatly tied back and pinned off face. No jewellery, nail polish, fake tattoos or glitter hairspray or glitter makeup. All students please arrive in your dancewear and correct dance shoes. If you are in the ballet, you will need to wear a leotard. In some instances costumes are delayed from the dressmakers so if there is any reason costumes cannot be tried on at this first rehearsal, then students need their classwear to rehearse in. (you will not require your performance tights at dress rehearsal at KOTB studio keep them in good condition for the dress rehearsal on Monday 12 th December at the Arts Centre and then that night for the concert wear old ones if you have them or as it s hot socks will be fine today). Label all your shoes & accessories. Write your name on all belongings. Named costume tubs are provided for all our Under 6 s classes) and will be placed in the dressing area prior to arrival for dress rehearsal on this Sunday. Please tell your child to put all their things in their named tub when they arrive. All accessories need to be pinned. Please have a kit containing a good supply of safety pins, bobby pins, hair elastics etc. for headpieces and accessories and explain to your child that the dressers in each room may ask for your kit to pin your costumes or hair if required. Please see Karen in the Dancebox Shop as we do have a mini kit containing all your needs for purchase. Important - the times given are start times on stage not arrival times. Please do not be late as your child will miss their rehearsal. I cannot stress this too much!! Please arrive at least 20minutes prior to the start times given for your dance. On rehearsal days, please pack a light snack for your child and PLEASE ensure they have a SPILLPROOF water bottle. No messy foods like yoghurts/beetroot/chocolate/cordials that may stain costumes. Also we have highly allergic students so no Nuts or Nut products please!

4 Personal Requirements (incl. shoes etc) & Hairstyles PERSONAL ITEMS REQUIRED: including tights & shoes etc is listed separately on the 2016 Costume Requirements List (issued separately). This lists each dance item, costume description, items of your own that you will need to accessorise with the costume, hairstyle required and any other special notes. It is a good idea to have a copy of this list in with your costumes to help your child/dressers when dressing. Makeup Requirements / Demonstration Make up Basic Foundation, Blush, Eye shadow, Red Lipstick, Eye Liner and Mascara. For new families, we have a make-up demonstration scheduled for this Sunday 27 th November at 2.30pm and again at 3.30pm in the café area. You will be able to watch us make-up a child with our KOTB colour palette. We also have mini make-up kits and products available for order/purchase should you need anything. Some makeup is necessary otherwise facial features become washed out under the intensity of the stage lighting. We understand for younger children applying makeup can be a challenge, but please attempt at least some eye, cheek and lip definition. Shoes & Stockings * All tights and other requirements can be purchased from the Dance Box Shop at KOTB. We suggest having a spare pair of stockings, as holes do occur. FINALE WE WOULD LIKE ALL STUDENTS TO BE INVOLVED IN THE FINALE. If you feel your little one will be too tired that s fine, but in our experience most of them are very excited to go back on stage again especially to be with the older kids. Under 6 s will not be required to attend the extra Finale rehearsal on Sunday 4 th December for this as little ones will be brought on stage for a bow and a wave only (no choreography) before the final dance off. This will be organised on the main stage at the Arts Centre on the Monday 12 th December full show rehearsal during the day. Please wear your BLACK Class DANCE PANTS/SHORTS for this purpose. If you do not have black, there are many styles available either from our own Dancebox Shop or you can always find a pair at stores such as Kmart, Best & Less etc for very low cost. KOTB Concert T-Shirts for the Finale will be available at the Dancebox Shop in the last week of term for purchase $15 to wear with any style black dance pants. If students who are in classes other than Jazz, or do not have black jazz shoes for class/concert, they may choose to wear plain black sneakers for this number only. (Again, you can usually source a pair of canvas runners at low cost shoes stores such as Costless Shoes or Kmart for around $4-5).
