1 October ~ Prez Sez By King Lion Sam Here we are in October already; wish you all were able to attend our Picnic and if you didn t you missed a great day despite the weather. Thanks to Lion Jim Stone and wife Martha, Lion Bob Pretty and wife Fran. And my wife Muriel and all that helped. A great effort led by Team Leader Lion Jim Stone. We attended Special Olympic Night of Heroes where our District 22D was honored along with a lot of special people. Attending was Lion Bob Pretty, 2 nd VP Lion Peggy Baunchalk, my wife and I. What a great Night. We also had a great time at the Walk for Sight (Monster Mile) at Dover Downs Raceway. Five of our Leo club showed up and Lion Jim Miles and wife Carolyn. King Lion Sam and wife Muriel. They had a great turn out and the weather cooperated. We all got tee shirts after walking a mile. This was a fundraiser for the Delaware Lions Foundation, helping the people of Delaware. In addition to the walk, they have the Auction coming up on November 6, at 3PM at Dover Downs Ballroom B. We donated $ to the Ceramic shop at Stockley Center after finding out there was a need from Lion Cal Denis. Representing the Stockley Center was Karen Wider and Bob Dramer at our 2 nd meeting in October a check was presented. For those not familiar with the ceramic shop, the ceramic lions are made by mentally challenged individuals and the money will provide materials and molds for this endeavor. They provide Lion Cal Denis with the Lions for his special awards that we give to a select few for there outstanding work. I would like to thank Lion Cal for his work with these awards. Our team of Lions also made a $ donation to the Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley. These funds enable many people to have sight restored by many procedures provided by this group. So be proud of our club and be part of the many fundraisers we undertake. Our guest speaker at the meeting on November 7, will be Mr. Jonathan Schafler, manager of the Primehook National Wildlife Refuge. Hope to see everyone there and for those that have missed some meetings, come and take part with your friends. We have directories and Roster Books for everyone, please pick up if you don t have one. If you can t come and pick up, please let me know and I will get one to you. With Veterans day coming please display your American flag proudly and pray for all our service men and women. Big Reminder Please join us at the November 21st regular Lions Club meeting which is our Charter Day Luncheon. Attending will be DG Ralph and entourage. We will dedicate our new Awards Cabinet.
