1 Volume 10 Issue 1 District 26-M2 July 2017 District Governor Hello all I am back from Chicago and had a great time, lots of training. Our new slogan is the power of WE. Together we can make our District the best in the state. As your Governor our team will work with the clubs to do whatever they need. All you have to do is ask and my team will be there for you. Looking forward to the club visits. Feel free to call me anytime. I am proud to be your Governor. Lion Joe Detter 26-M2 First Vice District Governor s Report A big thank you goes out to all the clubs in the district for reporting your officers so that our directory will be current. We would like to welcome our new district and club officers. Lion Pam Manuel will be our new district membership chairperson. Lion Devin Struttmann will be our new leadership chairman and outlined the duties and responsibilities of our zone chairmen at the recent G-force meeting in an excellent manner. Lion Sandee Marshall will be our new service chairperson. Service activity reporting and LCIF donations are areas where we could use improvement. We are now performing at a level comparable to the best Lion Districts in the nation. We are the best district in the state and working toward being the best district in the nation. Your continued excellent performance will make this possible. 1 st VDG Duane DeClue Second Vice Governor Hello Lions, For those that missed the 100th Convention in Chicago, it was quite a happening. We celebrated the past, relished in the present and planned for the future. This is something I would like to start in our own District, every Lion and club working together to build a larger, stronger team. 11 We are going to try a classified ad article in the Roar If you have anything related to Lions that you can t use any longer but could be of use to another club list it here for sale. For instance a popcorn machine you can t store, BBQ grills, kitchen items, float decorations, beer cups and pitchers, plates the list goes on and on. We want only Lions related item. There will also be a wanted list. Let s give it a try. While I m talking, Lion Becky Speeler and I are collecting club related tee shirts for a quilt to be auctioned off for the district. Ticket will be drawn at the District 26-M2 convention. We need one from each club, the shirt doesn t have to be new or in great condition. Please bring them to the cabinet meeting or give them to your zone chairman, Lion Becky, or me. We really need them ASP. The quilt will have a square for each club. If you have a shirt from special events with you club name on it that would be great or just the club name is fine. It will be similar to this one pictured here. Lion Sue

12 Try Blind Hockey St. Louis Public Hosted by BVA Sports Tuesday, July 18 at 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Next Week Sunny Kirkwood Ice Arena 11 S Geyer Rd, Kirkwood, Missouri BLIND HOCKEY S COMING TO St. Louis AND YOU RE INVITED! Please Register Online: The Blinded Veterans Association, Leveling The Playing Field, World's Fair Park - St. Louis, and USA Hockey are teaming up to bring you a very special program at Kirkwood Ice Arena on Tuesday, July 18th. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the fast-growing Parasport sport of Blind Hockey, and cheer on members of USA Hockey s emerging Blind Hockey program as they play an exciting demo! It s also the perfect opportunity for adults and children of all ages who are blind or partially sighted in the region to come try skating as well as the sport of Blind Hockey. The event will consist of a learn-to-skate introduction, a Try Blind Hockey session, and then a full-ice demonstration game where actual blind hockey players hit the ice and show you what Blind Hockey is all about. HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE SKATE If you are blind or partially sighted of any age at all you are welcome to join us on the ice for the try skating and Blind Hockey session. No experience is necessary and the event is free. Whether you are skating for the very first time or you are already a potential Blind Hockey superstar, there will be fun and safe programming provided for everyone. World's Fair Park - St. Louis and the event organizers will provide skates, helmets, and protective equipment as well as volunteer skating mentors to assist with instruction and or guiding on ice. To register for the learn-to-skate and try Blind Hockey program, please fill out the online form here: BRING THE FAMILY & COME WATCH THE GAME After you ve had your chance to come for a skate and try Blind Hockey, make sure to plan to stick around and experience the full-ice Blind Hockey game, featuring players from the United States, Canada, and our local hockey programs.
