Month 4/5 6 7 Road Map to Learning The Ohio Department of Transportation was the guest community helpers today

The students enjoyed seeing how ODOT takes care of the state roads and signs in our county. They also demonstrated how the salt that they use on the roads quickly melts ice. After the classroom presentation each student put on their hard hat and had the opportunity to sit in one of the two salt trucks that were present. Thank you Craig Stout, Susan Gelter, Randy Spiller, and JD Burton for the awesome experience, hats, signs, construction toy, and coloring booklets. 5 PreK Class Earns Reward for Green Behavior! Hooray for positive behavior!!! Mrs. Stout s class has done a fantastic job using thumbs up behavior the past two weeks. We made an agreement, (pinky promise) that if we work hard to help one another make good choices and stay on green we would have a "Green Party." The Green party consist of a pizza party in our classroom for lunch, extra recess time, and a treasure box piñata.

RES Students Learn about Environmental Issues On Thursday, March 21st Hanna Pollit visited the Russellville Elementary School to present my FCCLA Environmental Ambassador project.

Her concern is that too many water bottles are filling our landfills, polluting the earth, and killing animals. She showed a short YouTube video and played a Jeopardy style game with the classes.

6 RES Students Learn about Environmental Issues On Thursday, March 21st Hanna Pollit visited the Russellville Elementary School to present my FCCLA Environmental Ambassador project. She taught a lesson to the 4th and 5th grade classes and encouraged them to rethink their water bottles by choosing a reusable option. Her concern is that too many water bottles are filling our landfills, polluting the earth, and killing animals. She showed a short YouTube video and played a Jeopardy style game with the classes. Results from the pre-test and post-test will be used to assess the new information that the students learned. At the end of my presentation Hanna showed students some DIY ways they could recycle and repurpose water bottles. Her examples included a pencil case, a bird feeder, and even a flower pot.

7 Community Helper Month To wrap up Community Helper Month the Ripley chief of police, Joel Barnett, and assistant chief, Josh Miller, visited the Russellville pre-k. They talked to the students about their job responsibilities and gave all the students a police vest and badge. Thank you for or service and the time spent with us!
