Find your dogs favorite treat, if you have not already. For those of you who might be new to the project, this treat needs to be a treat your dog would die for. Once you think you ve found that perfect treat, go ahead and test it to be sure. Take your dog to some place where there are a lot of smells, noise and distraction. Pull out the treat and show it to your dog. If your dog s full attention is on you, then you got that favorite treat, but if your dog ignores you, try a different treat. It also helps if you have more then one favorite treat if possible. That Volume 42, Issue #4 April Page 5

6 way you at least have a backup. If you are not sure what you should use, try, hot dogs, liver, and pupperoni. They all usually work. There will be educational time, where you will learn what is aloud at training and what is not. Also you will learn how to make your own tug toys. It would be greatly appreciated if all guardians could attend that evening. There will be a meeting just for them during the educational events. We will also be discussing the schedule for training. Junior leaders please arrive around 6:15. Also if you are a beginner, you must attend at least three monthly meetings and advanced (2 years or more) must attend at least two. I just wanted to thank everyone for all the hard work that was put in to make our raffle a success. The weather was not very pleasant the night of our raffle, but we still had a great time and folks come out to support our efforts and made some money to help fund our project. There was a sent to show the amounts spent and total made. If there are any questions as always please let us know. Here are some of the upcoming events so mark your calendars: Saturday April 5th from 10:00AM until around 2:00PM we will be meeting at the Bristol Town Hall. We will have a couple of seminars for the kids and also be making a spinner or buzz bait, and also learning how to properly put new line on your reel. Each project member can bring one reel to our meeting to have it respooled. We will also have pizza brought in as well as soda and chips. Saturday May 17th we will be fishing from shore on Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie. This will be from 7:00Am until 11:00AM. If you have a boat and would like to bring it that is fine. June 14th we will have our annual 4-H Fishing Summer Derby on Delavan Lake in Walworth County. This outing is from 5:30AM until 1:00PM. This is always a great time and alot of good fishing. This outing is alot of fun, but has been harder in the past years to get boats lined up for everyone. If you have a boat or know someone that would be willing to help us out that day, please have them give me a call. I would hate to have to cancel this event due to not having enough boats for everyone. Hopefully it won't be much longer our lakes will be open. If you go ice fishing be carefully and please use extreme caution. Usually by now the lakes are open and we are in boats. It time to start thinking about packing the ice fishing gear away to start looking ahead to the open water. It will be here soon. Glen Hipper, Volume 42, Issue #4 April Page 6
