1 FIFTH ANNUAL MANITOBA YOUTH BEEF ROUNDUP the largest Roundup to date. Fifty six of Manitoba s enthusiastic Junior Cattle Producers attended the 5th annual Manitoba Youth Beef Roundup August 3, 4 and 5 th in Neepawa, Manitoba. Excitment in the cattle industry brought out a top notch group of interested cattle producers. The cattle industry is in continuing to prosper when 1/3 of the members for the weekend were new to Roundup which is encouraging to see. The weekend started off with a Workshop Day on Friday consisting of workshops presented on ATV Safety, Dave Keely of Pfizer Animal Health and Erin Toner of the Canadian Angus Association. Saturday Members Exhibited items in the competitions listed below along with the cattle show and educational Competitions both individual and team. One of the highlights of Saturday is the Cook off, where 6 Members on a team prepare a steak and create a theme. Judges Ray Armbruster (President of Manitoba Beef Producers) and Amy Bonchuk (ACC Culinary Arts Graduate) evaluated this competition and was impressed with the taste of the steaks, presentation, themes and costumes. Winning Team was Shania Jack, Jesse Gross, Levi Best, Riley Wirgau, Morgan Staniland, and Lindsey Verwey with a Western Horse Theme, Steak, Potato, and Asparagus Grilled, Apple Pie and Ice Cream and more. Sunday, the members took part in Showmanship in the morning with Champion Pee Wee Showman- Brooklyn Wirgau, Narcisse Reserve Cora Baker, Neepawa Champion Junior Showperson Justin Carvey, Alexander Reserve Naomi Best, Harding Champion Intermediate Showman- Laura Horner, Minnedosa Reserve- Samantha Rimke, Oak Lake Champion Senior Showperson- Justin Kristjansson, Forrest Reserve- Jackie Bremner, Dauphin After Lunch were the Cattle Conformation classes with 103 head of cattle Judges for the day were Andre Steppler, Miami, and Andrew Kopeechuk, Brandon ANGUS Class 1 Angus Heifer Calves 1.
