Worthy President Jeanette Peterson From The Auxiliary President Welcome to the new fiscal year for the Lynnwood Eagles. Congratulations to those who agreed to take on the role of officer for both the Club and the Auxiliary for the upcoming year. Now is a time for all of us to reflect on how we can contribute to our club so we can maintain our long- Viola Flieschhacker standing tradition of community service. I am looking forward to the new ideas that will help our club to prosper and thrive. I look forward to meeting with the old and new officers as we move forward. I want to thank the Auxiliary sisters and officers for their support and confidence that allow me to continue on as Auxiliary president. It is my privilege to serve with the other officers to provide guidance to the club in its efforts to provide a safe and prosperous environment for our members. This year I would like to work on ways to increase our Auxiliary member involvement in the monthly meetings. Here is where ideas can be shared and decisions made. It is a good place to view how our officers work and to think about the day that you might step forward and become an officer. Until then, there are many fundraising activities throughout the year that need volunteer coordinators. You can tailor fit your involvement. Just come talk to me or another officer. Many hands make light work. John Heywood, English Writer. The state convention is in Yakima from June 15 to 17. If you can make it, there are some great sessions that will inform you how to run successful activities, events and about fundraising, leadership development and more. Be sure you read all posted bulletins to find out what s going on in the club. There are changes all the time. I hope everyone travels safely over Memorial Day weekend. May good health bless us all. Smile, summer is almost here. Madam President Vi Flieschhacker Need more sunhine Sisters, if you travel to an area with sunshine, please zip some sunshine into your suitcases and bring it home. 3 Letter to the Editor Burned Children s Recovery Foundation The Cascade Renegade Riders would like to send out a special thanks to the Lynnwood Eagles for the opportunity to use the facility to put on the 4th annual benefit for the Burned Children s Recovery Foundation. Our total after the evening is just under $25,500, which is $2,500 ahead of the same time period from last year with two events still to be held. There s quite the possibility that we ll surpass last year s total of $32, A special thanks goes to Matt, Kevin and the kitchen team for a great meal; Jessica, Karen, Michelle, Lou Lou and Jerry for keeping everybody served in a timely manner; Sally and Kathy for making sure that the inventory was where it needed to be to accommodate a full house; and Dave Stering and Chuck Louden for making the building grounds look presentable. I d also like to thank everyone that participated and helped to make this event another true positive monetary event for the burned survivors, as we couldn t have these kinds of numbers without the generosity of many. Please remember that a lot of work goes into these events. Those that bust their butts and have helped, do know quite well what they re doing. If you donate something to us it ll get used in a way that will have the opportunity to make the most money for the kids. That is our main objective. These kind of monetary numbers don t just happen. Those of us who put this together aren t exactly attending their first rodeo. Again Lynnwood Eagles, thanks for allowing us one of your open houses, It impressed the many who were in attendance the evening of the event, including many Eagle members as well as many non-members. Don Daves Cascade Renegade Riders President Large party space for rent Room rentals at reasonable rates in our private club on Hwy. 99, Lynnwood for weddings, graduations, holidays, memorials or birthdays. Contact club trustees by at: Rentals@-LynnwoodEagles. com or call (425) Furniture World From The Aerie Trustees Thanks for letting us serve you The outgoing Trustees of Lynnwood Eagles 2888 would like to welcome the new group of trustees to the board. We are not going to pat ourselves on the back too hard as we exit our positions, but what we can say is that we did our best to take many items some that were in serious disarray and make them better. The trustees can say that we ve tried hard to accommodate all of the members of this great club. Unlike individual trying to take things that don t belong to them, like when we started three years ago. There were times when the water and electricity were about to be shut off and paying something like the insurance in a lump sum and not in installments, was something that couldn t be done due to not enough accountability as to where the money was going. A big thanks to Bob Nelson for his attention to detail as we tried our best to right the ship. We feel that we re leaving the new board in pretty State Aeries newsletter says Just picked up a piece of news from the state news letter that I thought needed to be relayed to the members of Lynnwood Eagles. It addresses the need for officers to good shape. We d really hope that they put in the energy to keep things going in a positive manner. As a member of Lynnwood Eagles this is your club. If you see things that you feel need to be done, bring them up at a trustee meeting and share them with the board. I d really hope that the new trustees pick a chairman who can lead and get things done. We had one the first year that not only was a poor leader, but actually left a volunteer with a key for two weeks after he was caught stealing beer from the club. The chairman of the board, in a lot of cases, is the guiding light. We thank you for letting us serve you for the last three years! Dave Stering. Chairman Don Daves Steve Mellinger Les Straw Russell Pyles Chuck Louden From The Aerie Secretary Bob Nelson run the club. It starts like this. There are some very important and mandatory requirements for the operating of your Aerie. This is the time of Pop tops to help kids We are still collecting the tabs off beer, pop, soup and fruit cans at the club. There is a bucket usually in the area of the booth table at the back of the bar for you to put them in. Collect them and bring them to the club in plastic bags. the year when we nominate officers for the aerie. What many brothers are not aware of is that without all of the seats filled, your Aerie is in violation of the F.O.E statutes, Washington State Incorporation laws and probably federal law. With the multitude of changing attitudes in today s society it is becoming increasingly difficult to find brothers that are willing to step up to fill those requirements. Unfortunately the powers that be, still require us to in compliance with the rules. Without being in compliance your Aerie faces the possibility of losing its charter and non profit status. We still have one position open so if you are interested and would like to know what is required, stop by my office and I ll be happy to try to assist you. 5 Happy Birthday From the Aerie Chaplain Vicki Eames Chaplain Aeries Worthy President Jeanette Peterson was honored with a surprise birthday celebration. This is my last article as chaplain, so I wanted to leave you with just some food for thought. I hope you all stay safe and healthy. Say hi to each other and bring a smile where there isn t one... If we discovered that we had only 5 minutes left to say all that we wanted to say, every telephone booth would be occupied by people calling other people calling to stammer that they loved them. -- Christopher Morley You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand. -- Woodrow Wilson Be open and accessible. The nest person you meet could become your best friend -- Anonymous When a friend is in need, help him without his having to ask. -- Anonymous Try measuring your wealth by what you are rather than by what you have.
