Mike Stone opened the meeting at 11:00am. Mike thanked the members who worked hard for an hour and a half this morning clearing weeds from the area. THANK YOU Roy Truitt, Jim Layes, Steve Glen, and Mike Hanson! The March 31, 2018 Meeting Minutes were approved as written. There was no Treasurer s Report. Bob Estrella gave the Membership Report, stating that we have 46 members in the Club. Mike Stone noted that he heard from Justin Link recently, and that Justin plans to rejoin our Club. Old Business: Mike Stone stated that we have not heard anything new from the Property Manager regarding our status. However, Mike related that he recently found out that Sal s Rent was raised recently. As such, we are no longer planning to approach the Property Manager about lowering our rent. Skip Shaw gave attendees an update on the Field Power status. We currently have power in the Mansion and West Pits. Skip said that he is hoping to work on getting power to the Kitchen area and East Pits during the coming week. MAY MEETING SATURDAY, May 26, :00am KILLEEN FIELD Mike Stone related that a Maintenance Crew was working on the Water Pumps recently. Hopefully they will get the Pumps operating soon and restore water service. Mike Stone gave a report on our April 21st Members Only Warbirds/Golden Age Fun-Fly. (See Report herein). New Business: Mike Stone related that we ve paid our Club Website Hosting Fee, so it s now good through April 30, Bob Estrella reported that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 on Friday, April 27 th. The Bill includes the Special Rule for Model Aviation with refinements that the AMA supported. The Senate will now work on their version, then both Bills will go to a Joint Committee for finalization. Plans for our May 12 th Spring Swap Meet were discussed. The event Flyer is posted on our Field Bulletin Board, and posted on our Website. It has also been ed to other Clubs and previous attendees. (See Event Flyer herein). Jim Layes volunteered to be the Gate Guard from 7am to 9am. Bob Estrella presented information on the new Federal Real ID Drivers License requirement and California s implementation of same. In a Nutshell, beginning October 1, 2020, the federal government will require your driver license to be REAL ID compliant if you wish to use it as identification to board a domestic flight or enter military bases and most federal facilities. The California DMV began offering a federal compliant REAL ID driver license or ID card as an option to customers on January 22, When you go in to the California DMV to renew your Driver s License, you must show them proof that you are a U.S. Citizen, show them your Social Security Card, and show them that you are a resident of California if you want to receive a Real ID Driver s License. If you don t show them those three items, you will receive a Non-Real ID Driver s License, the same version that they issue to Illegal Aliens. Go to the California DMV website at for details. 2 MEMBERS ONLY WARBIRDS/GOLDEN AGE FUN-FLY REPORT The Members Only Warbirds/Golden Age Fun Fly was held on April 21, 2018 at the Gilman Springs RC Flyers Flying Field. We had a good turnout with 15 Members attending (12 Pilots and 3 Non-Flying) and 18 models. Bob Jones cooked up a great lunch of Smoked Sausage Dogs, Baked Beans, and Cole Slaw. Thank you, Bob!
