OLD TIMERS DAIRY SHOWMANSHIP This class is open to anyone who is 19 years of age or older. Showman is required to be a 4-H or FFA parent, advisor, sponsor or involved in Coshocton County 4-H or FFA activities during the past year. Judging will be strictly on the showmanship of the individual and not on the animal. It is NOT required that the showman own the animal which they exhibit in this class. Classes will follow the Junior Fair Dairy Show. Children s ages are determined as of January 1 of the current year. Calves must have been born on or after March 1 of the current year. The calves do not have to be kept on the fairgrounds for the length of the fair. The calves can be brought in on show day. Calves should arrive at Hunter Arena before 10 a.m. on show day. The Coshocton County Dairy Service Unit is sponsoring an ice cream sundae and an award for each child. DEPARTMENT E GOATS NATHAN HOFFMAN - Superintendent AMY JO JOHNSON - Assistant SARAH DAUGHERTY & ANALEA SMITH - Advisors 1. Only Dairy Goat Does must be dehorned. 2. Does need not be registered but should be of a recognized goat breed. 3. Meat does will show by age classes with all meat breeds combined. Dairy does will show by age classes with all dairy breeds combined. 4. Exhibitor may enter only five goats. 5. Each exhibitor may show a maximum of one market wether goat. 6. There will be supervised milk-out for all production does (except dry does) 5-6 p.m. Friday at the dairy goat barn. Any exhibitor missing the specified milk-out must still milk out the doe(s) sometime prior to the show in the presence of the official milk-out inspector to be eligible to enter the production doe class(es). 7. All goat exhibitors are to wear black pants and white top, except for dairy goat exhibitors who should wear all white. 8. First-place exhibitor in the Dairy Production class will be in the sale ring with his/her goat during the selling of the Supreme Goat Product. 9. It is permissible to use a short lead strap when exhibiting Pygmy goats. The lead strap should only be long enough to allow the exhibitor to stand up straight. 10. Leather collar, nylon collar, or standard choker collar are the only types of collars allowed for showing goats. 11. Pygmy Wether and Angora Wether goat exhibitors may choose to sell the wether in the Junior Fair Auction or choose to receive money from the Supreme Goat Products. First and second place animals in Junior Pygmy Wether Goat, Senior Pygmy Wether Goat, and Adult Pygmy Wether Goat will compete for Champion and Reserve Champion Pygmy Wether. 17. Wethers born before January 1 of the current year are not eligible to sell. 18. All market Wether goats must be tagged on June 25, 10-10:30 a.m. All wether goats (Market Wether, angora Wether, Pygmy Wether or Dairy Wether) wishing to sell in the Junior Fair Auction must be tagged on June 25, 10-10:30 a.m. at the Junior Fair Arena. Each exhibitor may tag a maximum of 3 Market Wether Goats, 3 Angora Wethers, 3 Pygmy Wethers, or 3 Dairy Wethers. For tagging wether goats at the designated Market Wether Tag Day in June, only Dairy Does must have no horns and wethers must be surgically cut or banded. 19. All goats must have scrappie identification and/or tattoo paperwork checked before unloading. Members must attend goat QA. BOOK 574 CLASS 1 - BEGINNER GOAT PACK CLASS Class available for goat s that have not been shown in pack classes before at the Coshocton County Junior Fair Goat Show. Goat must wear a pack and exhitibtors should wear proper attire for trail. Class counts as a goat entry. CLASS 2 - EXPERIENCED GOAT PACK CLASS Class for all goats that have been shown in a pack class before at the Coshocton County Junior Fair Goat Show. Goat must wear a pack and exhibitors should wear proper attire for trail. Goat and exhibitor will complete an obstacle course. Class counts as a goat entry. OBSTACLE CLASS For all youth under 8 years old with age as of January 1 of current year. Goats used in this class need to be Junior Fair entries. BOOK 575- MARKET WETHER GOAT SHOW All market wether goats enter in the same class broken by weight if necessary. All wether goats must be castrated by banding or surgically cutting, not clamping. All entries in the Market Wether classes must be eartagged on June 25, 10-10:30 a.m. at the Open Class Sheep Barn. To be tagged in the COSHOCTON GRAIN COMPANY wethers must have no horns (except Pygmies and Angoras) and surgically cut or banded. Only whethers meeting these criteria will be tagged. HELMET RULE: All youth age 19 and under participating in any 4-H equestrian activity, are required to wear a properly fitted protective headgear which meets or exceeds current ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) / SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards with the chin harness securely fastened at all times while riding or driving an equine. 2. Classes are open to all bona fide equine projects. Exhibitors are limited to two mature and two production animals. 3. No limit is placed on the number of classes an exhibitor may enter with any qualifying animal (s).
