All entries and awards in the department will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations published in the Exhibitor's Information, including the following rules. 2. Entries: Junior Show is be open all Ohio 4-H and FFA Exhibitors. Exhibitors may make as many entries in individual classes as they choose. Three animals may be shown in an individual class, but only two animals per class can receive premium money, ribbons, and placing. Substitutions are allowed in same class and same show as the original entry. Please make substitutions at check in. 3. All breeding goat exhibitors must present a certificate of registration from a breed association for all animals shown. Certificate of Registration for the animals shall stand in the name of the individual or partnership making the entry of which the exhibitor is a partner by JUNE 1, of current year. In case of a partnership, the exhibitor shall state the partnership on his/her official entry blank, indicating which animals being entered actually are registered in stated partnership. Acceptable partnerships for registration of animals to be shown by junior exhibitors must be similar to the following examples: John Doe Farms; John Doe and Family; John Doe and Son or Daughter; XYZ Farms; John Doe and Bill Doe. If your registration does not comply with the above examples of partnerships, and/or you fail to state partnership on the official entry form, you will not be eligible to show. 4. Junior Exhibitors must show their own animals. Exceptions will be made only for exhibitors who may be physically impaired, who have two animals entered in the same class, or an exhibitor is absent on show day due to other commitments. In case of these exceptions another boy or girl who is eligible to be an Ohio Junior Division Exhibitor and must be resident of the State of Ohio, may exhibit the animal with the authorization of the department director. If a Junior Fair Livestock Exhibitor cannot be present at the time of judging the exhibitor will need to present to the department director a written permission notice signed by the football coach, band director or any other person in charge of an activity that is in conflict and prevents the exhibitor from being present at the time of judging. This notice must be on official letterhead of the organization and given to the department director 24 hours before show day and must include name, county, birthdate, home phone number, and complete address of the exhibitor's, home and work of the person in charge of the event (i.e. football coach, band director, etc.) Also include a brief description of the conflict. 5. Tattoos: All goats must have legible tattoo(s) or other means of permanent identification consistent with its registration certificate. If the animal has a microchip as its permanent identification, the exhibitor is responsible for providing a microchip reader. 6. Computing Ages: Birth dates, as listed on the registration certificate, will be used to determine the class division. The base date is the date of the show. 7. Classes: All animals must be registered purebred, fullblood, or percentage blood boer goats. Percentage doe classes are for goats 50% to 87.5% (1/2 to 7/8 blood) boer; Fullblood classes are for does that are 93.7% and higher; and 96.8% and higher for bucks. Progeny of fresh does will not be allowed in the ring. The Champion and Reserve classes will be chosen from the first and second place animals in that division of the show. 8. Disqualification: Any goat showing any pronounced defect or abnormality will be barred from the show in any of the breeding classes. Artificial coloring will result in disqualification. Illegible tattoos or tattoos inconsistent with registration papers will result in disqualification. Any doe over 24 months of age that has not kidded and cannot prove a current pregnancy will not be allowed to show. 9. Only one person per goat is permitted in the ring. 10. All animals shall be in place on the date and time stated on the schedule, under the division in which you are exhibiting. Permission for a late arrival or early release for competing at a state or county fair must be obtained from Fair Management. Only one request for either a late arrival, early arrival, or an early release, will be granted after proof of competing at another state or county fair. Any exhibitor requesting a late arrival or an early release must have a letter or copy of entry form, from the state or county fair they are attending, 2

3 verifying proof of entry at the fair. NO request will be granted without this information. Any exhibitor leaving without permission will forfeit all premiums, and all awards. 11. All goats must be housed in pens assigned to exhibitors. Any exhibitor failing to house their animals in the goat barn from the time of arrival, until time of release will be ineligible to compete. 12. SPECIAL SHOWMANSHIP PREMIUMS Junior Boer Goat Showmanship age winners will receive money from the Youth Reserve Program, with first place receiving $25; 2nd place receiving $20 and third receiving $15. There are 10 age groups for a total of $600. 4

5 DIVISION 309 JUNIOR FAIR WETHER SHOW All goats must be housed in pens assigned to exhibitors on natural bedding. Any exhibitor failing to house their entries in the goat barn from the time of arrival until the shows have been completed will be ineligible to compete. All animals must meet fitting criteria for ring admittance when they are weighed-in. The Junior Fair wether show is open to Ohio 4-H and FFA members, enrolled in a meat goat project. Maximum of four (4) entries per exhibitor. Wethers must be slick shorn to an even length of 3/8 inch or less above the knee and hock. Wethers must have all milk teeth intact. Any wether missing teeth will be disqualified. Ideally, all wethers should have been dis-budded or have their horns cut back to approximately 1 inch in length. However, if wethers are shown without being dis-budded they should have the horn tips cut off in a blunt manner. All Junior Fair meat goat wethers will be weighed from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 20. Weigh cards are to be picked up in the Office and filled out completely before coming to the scales. Wethers will be divided approximately into 15 weight classes. Class 1 will be for 60 pounds and under. There will be no lower weight limit. The top 2 in each class will be weighed back and need to be no more than 4 pounds over their listed weight. Any wethers weighing more than 4 pounds over will be disqualified and the next highest placing wether will be weighed until there are 2 qualifying wethers from the class. No muzzles are to be used on wethers. The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Wether will be harvest. ONLY the Grand Champion Wether will be sold in the Sale of Champions. The following premiums are sponsored by the Ohio State Fair and the Farm Credit Mid America. Premiums per weight class are as follows: Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight Champions will receive $250 each sponsored by Farm Credit Mid America. Lightweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight Reserve Champions will receive $150 each sponsored by Farm Credit Mid America. SPECIAL PREMIUMS Sponsored by the following: Reserve Grand Champion Kalmbach Feeds $500 Northern Exposure Goat Sale $500 The Ohio State Fair Youth Reserve Program $1,500 Third Place Farm Credit Mid America $500 Fourth Place Wheeler Meat Goats 0 Fifth Place Wheeler Meat Goats $200 Sixth Place High Noon Feeds, Mike Egbert $150 MARKET GOAT SALE OF CHAMPIONS FORMAT Grand Champion Market Goat will sell in the Sale of Champions, on Sunday, August 5, 2:00 p.m Ohio State Fair Sale of Champions will have a top dollar cap as follows: Grand Champion Market Goat...$5,000 Twenty-five percent (25%), or amount over cap listed above, whichever is greater, will be distributed among other youth exhibitors. These funds will go towards scholarships, Outstanding Market Exhibitor Program, showmanship, skillathons, breeding livestock, FFA, 4-H, Ohio State Fair Band and Choir, and endowments. Grand Champion Wether Banner Reserve Grand Champion Wether Banner OUTSTANDING MARKET EXHIBITOR A total of $1,200 will be distributed to Outstanding Market Exhibitors, with first place receiving $500; second place receiving $400; and third place receiving 0. WETHER SHOWMANSHIP In wether showmanship, exhibitors must use their own wether that was also previously shown in the junior wether show. In 2018 Junior Boer Goat showmanship age winners will receive money from the Youth Reserve Program, with first place receiving $25; 2nd place receiving $20; and third place receiving $15. There are 10 age groups for a total of $600. 6 Exhibitor Information The Junior entry blank is a different one than the Open. If you want to enter both Junior and Open, then two blanks are needed. Complete animal information as required and animal count information as requested on the entry blank. Entry due date is June 20, this means the entry blank, and payment must be postmarked by June 20. We do not accept metered mail. Please make checks payable to the Ohio State Fair and mail to Ohio State Fair, Entry Department, 717 East 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio ONLINE ENTRY INFORMATION You may enter online at Exhibitors should keep their exact login information (user name/password). Premium money (amount listed after the class information) is processed and mailed at the conclusion of the fair. Any exhibitor who has not received due money by October 31, 2018, you should notify the Entry Department 717 East 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211, phone , or b.prince@expo.ohio.gov or , s.french@expo.ohio.gov IMPORTANT If you receive premiums of $499 and over, the State of Ohio now requires you to register as a "new supplier" at This MUST be done before any payment will be processed. Please be aware you will be asked for banking information, as your payment will be direct deposit. You may use either a checking or savings account. If you have won $499 and over in the past, you do not need to register. However, you are responsible to make any address or name changes, by going to www. supplier.obm.ohio.gov and update you information. You must provide information for either your FFA advisor or 4-H County Extension Professional. The junior exhibitor s entry will not be finalized until the confirmation is received back from either the FFA Advisor, or 4-H County Extension Professional. This confirmation will take the place of the required signatures. LATE ENTRY Any entries made after June 20 will be will be charged $75 late fee, plus animal charge. If entering both Junior and Open, then you will be charged the late fee for both, plus animal charge. TICKET INFORMATION No tickets will be required for Boer Goat exhibitors, since the show is before the official opening of the Ohio State Fair. You will be charged a $5 parking fee each time you enter the fairgrounds. If you wish to purchase admission tickets for the Ohio State Fair, July 25 through August 5, you may do so from the Entry Office at the following cost: $28 6-day (this ticket may be used by more than one person at the gate) $ 6 1-day (one person admission) 6
