1 12 October 2017 L6 Assembly On Monday there is assembly for all lower sixth students. If you are in Miss Snoad s cohort go straight to the hall at 12.05pm and then to your tutor base after assembly. If you are in Miss Thiruudian s cohort go to your tutor base first. When you go to assembly please go in through the doors at the back of the social area by room 9. If you are in Farida Ahmed s tutor groups go to the hall at pm and if you are in Valentina Ross s groups go to the hall at 12.25pm - please go in through the doors at the back of the social area by room 9. Woodhouse Plus Woodhouse Plus - Starts in three weeks. Olivia Stanton Next week you will be able to choose your Woodhouse Plus course. The prospectus describing all the courses will appear today on Woodle on the right hand side. Read about all the choices now and choose your option next week Monday to Wednesday. Ian Hooper INSET Days As per the college calendar, we have two upcoming staff inset days in which students are not expected in college: Friday 20 October Monday 30 October All such dates are on our website under Students and also under Parents. 2 Page 2 Cambridge Masterclasses A series of masterclasses at Cambridge University are available. You need to book yourself and they cost 20 to attend plus transport. John Rubinstein Crash Course Society We're introducing interactive crash courses for woodhouse students. This Friday at lunch come along to room 217 and find out what genocides are and why they're sometimes not recognised! Topics in the future include: climate change, colonialism, morality of prostitution, etc This will help AS students who might want to do an EPQ pick a field or just anyone who wants to increase their fun fact knowledge. Come learn, discuss, and enjoy! 3 Page 3 Communications Team College council is changing and we are recruiting for lower sixth members. We will be rebranded as the communications team and will no longer have tutor reps and deputies. These will be replaced by students setting up actions teams, some have already started eg: Afro-Caribbean action team, sci-fi action team. Action teams can be short or long term, must benefit the wider college community and involve an activity and encourage students to take action. We are currently recruiting for communication team members. Applications are now open to all lower sixth students. To apply, send a one-minute video explaining why you would make a good addition to college council, communication team to SEvans@woodhouse.ac.uk Applications must be in by 20 October Please also say in the video (via webcam) if you have any practical skills such as: Video editing Poster design Writing newsletters Etc. The video does not need to be high quality, as long as we can hear what you are saying! 4 Page 4 CGP Revision Books The library is taking orders for CGP revision books and the college order will be placed the end of 13 October. Speak to a staff member to see the price list and place your order. Your book(s) must be paid for before they are ordered for you. Sign up and pay on Woodle. Hand in an enrolment form to or Piers Rankin. Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Satellite Club starts up again this Friday. Fancy learning some self-defense? Where: The dance studio Time: 4:30pm-6pm Cost: 5 (Woodhouse College student price) What is it? A combat sport, and a self-defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground.

5 Page 5 Weights Gym Induction New dates have been published on Woodle for weightlifting inductions: 31October and 3 November. You MUST attend a Woodhouse College induction in order to use the weights gym at Woodhouse. No other induction will suffice. Please sign up on Woodle and keep an eye on your for more information. Boys with bang boys Thai boxing. 3G Pitch Open & Footballs The 3G pitch is open at lunchtime for sport / physical activity: Frisbee / Rugby / Football etc. It is not possible to borrow footballs from the college. When we have done this in the past, they go missing, regardless of deposits left. Please bring your own balls.
