We have several fun activities coming up in the months ahead as follows: Thursday, August 30 th we will be headed to the Del Mar Races for a great day of thoroughbred horse racing. See more information on page 3 on this newsletter. Get out your favorite Hawaiian shirt or dress for Sunday,September 9 th, and enjoy our lovely and tasty Luau at the Shadowridge Country Club. Get your reservation in early!! Tuesday, October 9th, is our Annual Membership Picnic and Gwen has arranged for it to be hosted at the Meridian s relaxing patio in San Marcos. Save the date!! Gwen is also working on our Harvest Dinner Dance on Sunday, November 25 th at Shadowridge Country Club. The theme will be Country Western so polish those boots, fancy belt buckles and ge your hats out too. Wear your jeans and enjoy the hoedown. CORRECTION: I incorrectly stated in past newsletter that John Williamson was the leader of Cool Hand Ukes and the leader and Director is Deborah (Debbie) Jardin and John is a member of the group which Debbie directs. I am looking forward to hearing Cool Hand Ukes at our fabulous Luau during the social hour. See you at the Luau! Sincerely Anne Stephens, President A beautiful memorial was held on Saturday, July 14 at the Vista Elks for Joan Gadberry, a long time member of our social club. Her family told stories and had a picture presentation of Joanie s life. Her family shared some wonderful and humerous times in her life. Paul Slaughters daughter read a loving account of Paul and Joanie s adventures. A tribute of a life well lived!! Thank you from all the Widow/Widowers Club for sharing your life with Joanie with us. We will always remember our Joanie.
