5 Hoosier Salon Exhibit 2009 This year marks the 85th annual Hoosier Salon Exhibition. After the exhibition concludes at the Indiana State Museum the exhibition is divided into sections and those sections travel around the state. The Carnegie Museum will be hosting a portion of the exhibition. Last year s exhibition brought outstanding examples of Indiana artists to Crawfordsville. This year brings more artistic talent to the Carnegie Museum. The exhibit will officially open at the Carnegie Museum on Friday, December 4th, and remain on display through the month of December. The Museum will be open through 8 pm on that Friday. Upcoming Exhibit Items We need your help! Do you remember your High School Prom preparations? Do you still have pictures from Prom? Is there anything that you put away after Prom because it was such a special time and you didn t want to get rid of that memento? Do you still have it? The Carnegie Museum is looking for additional Prom items, such as photos, dresses, other prom attire, favors, programs, and anything else that went with Prom. All Montgomery County high schools of any era are welcome! Items can be donated to the museum or loaned. Senior cords, letter jackets, and sweaters are also welcome for both Prom and Basketball. The museum is also always looking for Montgomery County Basketball items, from any decade and for Montgomery County Business items, past or present. This Place Matters, in Collaboration with Crawfordsville Main Street You may have seen it in the papers or heard it on the radio; Crawfordsville Main Street s newest initiative endeavors to get people talking. Main Street asks Montgomery County residents local history trivia questions. Downtown Crawfordsville: This Place Matters is a promotional program aimed at sharing all the things that make our town a unique and important place. Downtown districts like Crawfordsville are rare, and disappearing all too quickly, said Kara Edie, Main Street board member and administrator of the This Place Matters program. With this program, we want to remind people of all that Crawfordsville is famous for, and help them to appreciate and fight to protect the heart of this terrific small town. Central to the This Place Matters program is an area-wide trivia contest featuring little-known historical facts about Crawfordsville s history. Some of the answers to the questions are gained by traveling around downtown Crawfordsville and some by visiting the local museums. Stop by the Carnegie Museum to brush up on your trivia and to impress your family and friends. To enter the contest, and answer some trivia questions, visit Good luck! He started with a blank wall, and today we now have 18 wonderfully painted pictures of architectural aspects of our culturally rich county. It is amazing to think that Kent is nearly one fourth of the way complete with his fascinating mosaic, shedding light on some possibly overlooked details of our county. So please come by the museum and see for yourself the wonderful individual masterpieces Kent has created, and witness the mosaic's progression as it grows and makes its way onto the wall of our lobby.
