2 EZ Squares News Due to the cold nights, our numbers have been down during the winter months. Illness and mobility issues have also affected our attendances. On the positive side, some new ladies have come recently and they show a lot of promise so hope they continue. We are busy preparing for a sausage sizzle at Bunnings, Morayfield, to raise some funds on Sunday 9th September, as well as getting organized for hosting The Queensland Callers Association's Gala Dance & Square Dance Society of Queensland's Sunshine State Round-Up which will be held at the Burpengary Community Hall, 111 Station Road, Burpengary, on Saturday 22nd September Our Cross Dressing party night on Tuesday 31st July was a success with some great music, fun costumes and visitors from Lighthouse Squares and Logan City. SUNCOASTERS NEWS Suncoasters celebrated the 33 rd Anniversary of our hall on 4 August and we were very happy to have about nine squares on the floor. We all had a very good time.

3 SUNCOASTERS NEWS Suncoasters celebrated the 33 rd Anniversary of our hall on 4 August and we were very happy to have about nine squares on the floor. We all had a very good time. Our group of learner dancers (eight of them all ladies) is progressing well and they are all really enjoying what they are learning and we are enjoying having them. At present, we have a couple visiting us from cold Victoria for about four weeks and we also have a lady from Japan visiting her son here and also enjoying dancing with us. A mini busload of dancers will be attending the QCA Gala Dance to be held at Burpengary on Saturday 22 September and this is something else for us to look forward to. 4 President s Report It s that time of year where the numbers are down around most clubs, mainly due to illness. Hopefully all are on the mend with the warmer weather on the way. The management committee has been working hard for you arranging various events for your enjoyment, and also clarifying and working on the rules and regulations in relation to the administration of the Society. Arrangements have been made with three of the society functions to be hosted by three clubs across the South East corner of the State. The Sunshine State Round Up is being held on the 22nd September at Burpengary, the Christmas dance is being held on the Gold Coast on 10th November (details for both these functions are within these pages); and the AGM meeting will be held on 10th March 2019, along with a dance on the Sunday afternoon at Deception Bay. So put these dates in your diary now so you don t miss out. Guidelines for the bus subsidy have been clarified and copies have been sent to all the clubs, who should have received them by now. In a nutshell the subsidy consists of $10 per dancer who is travelling on bus, to a maximum of $300 for each Society function. Please note, the State Conventions are actually held by the Queensland Callers Association, and are not a Society function, and thus do not qualify for bus subsidy from the Society. Full details are on our web site. You should also have received a copy of amendments to the Constitution which will bring it in line with what was voted for at the AGM This document is to be voted for final approval at the Sunshine State Round Up dance and is also available on the website. Russell Wall Qld Society President Burleigh Club News August has seen Burleigh Squares consistently dancing 3-4 squares, which is encouraging for this time of year and at the time of submitting this report, we are gearing up for our AGM on 1 st September. This year we are combining the event with a Father s Day dance no doubt there will be photos to follow in October s Bugle. We will see quite a change in the line up of our committee after the AGM with four of the current six committee members heading to southern states on a permanent basis. We wish the new committee all the best in what promises to be a sharp learning curve and acknowledge with gratitude the hard work done by the retiring committee. Our September calendar is full of Saturday night dancing, barring the one closed Saturday evening of the 22 nd, when we will endeavour to have a strong contingent at the Sunshine State Roundup. On any other Saturday night in September, please come and join us if you are down our way - the more the merrier as the old saying goes. Happy Dancing! 5 HERVEY BAY SQUARE DANCE CLUB NEWS Hi from Hervey Bay, thanks to visitors Martin and Jeanette from Sydney and Norma and Graeme from Launceston, we have been able to carry on dancing through the cold weather and members being away. Hopefully we will all be on deck for our next caller, Kay Walker. The theme is Spring Time so we are hoping that spring will have sprung by the 8th September. Plus is at 2pm till 4.30pm and Mainstream at 7pm. If anyone is in the area at this time, please come and join in the fun. Kay is sure to have some lively music for us to dance to. By the way, Graeme and Norma were telling us about their National Convention to be held in Deloraine on 24/28th April, We are all hoping to be able to dance with them in Tasmania. Many years ago, after the 2008 National Convention in Brisbane the Qld Square Dance Society received an MA-500 Amplifier from the Convention Committee. This is what one looks like. It was last seen during the 2016 National Convention at Buderim. It was picked up from Lynn McPherson after the Convention, but no-one remembers by who.
