2 Economic Impact of Miami-Broward One Carnival South Florida has over 1.2 Million people from the Caribbean or of Caribbean heritage, and over 500,000 more throughout the State of Florida. This, together with over 600,000 visitors to South Florida each year, means Carnival translates to an economic impact of over $40 million on South Florida s economy in two weeks. Miami-Broward One Carnival is the only event that brings this huge group together every year. This pro-vides a great platform for advertising and marketing. These figures are based on an Economic Study conducted by MLES and data from the US Census Bureau. This cultural Extravaganza known as Miami Broward Carnival, every year provides unique sponsorship and marketing opportunities for businesses and organizations to reach the fast growing Caribbean population of South Florida. As the population grows in numbers and affluence, so does its purchasing power and influence in the marketplace. South Florida is also home to a large population of people from the hemispheres that are lovers of Carnival and actively participate in the festivities. Miami Broward Carnival is seeking a sponsorship commitment in support of Carnival The event will be held on Sunday, October 11th Miami Broward Carnival represents the two organizations which have hosted Carnivals in Miami and Broward over the last 30 years. Carnival has grown in patronage and support annually since Family oriented festival business growth in South Florida is evidenced in a January 12th 2007 article in the South Florida Business Journal which reads Festivals seem to be the fastest growing industry in South Florida these days. This is especially true of Miami Broward Carnival as it increasingly attracts patrons locally, regionally from other States and internationally from Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. Sponsorship of this, the largest family oriented Caribbean event in the State of Florida, would offer your company a unique opportunity to attach its brand name and logo to an internationally-renowned festival. This richly diverse cultural event brought over 60,000 patrons, including visitors from 34 different states and other Countries to the South Florida region in Ninety percent (90%) of those visitors utilized air transportation, stayed in area hotels, dined in restaurants, shopped in local Malls and boutiques, rented cars and utilized all other available transportation services. An integrated marketing campaign will be implemented to promote the major and ancillary sanctioned events of Carnival The marketing plan includes a major media blitz through intended partnerships with major national, international and local television and radio, and the Internet, including digital, mobile and social media services. Carnival has grown since its inception, with anticipated attendance this year in excess of 60,000 patrons. As the festival has diversified, crossing over into the multi-ethnic Diasporas of South Florida, it has become an ideal medium for corporations to generate exposure for their products and services. 3 Profile of Miami Broward One Carnival Carnival is a Caribbean cultural event which was first held in 1984 on the Sunday before Columbus Day. The event attracted hundreds of attendees, all from Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. In 2014, there were tens of thousands of attendees, from all over Florida, almost every State in the U.S.A., from Canada, Europe and from most islands in the Caribbean. Attendees plan their vacations to South Florida months ahead, prior to Columbus Day. In coming years, this event will be the largest of its kind in North America, but it has already become an integral part of the Caribbean American family calendar of events. Carnival provides an economic impact to the Cities, Counties and the State, it is educational, creative, historical, provides business opportunities, provides work for artists in all fields, designers, engineers and many downstream industries and services. This style of carnival originated in Trinidad and Tobago and has been exported to every island in the Caribbean, major cities in the US, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and other countries. One of the top Carnival designers from Trinidad, Peter Minshall, was responsible for the opening and closing shows at the Summer Olympic Games held in Atlanta in Carnival features dozens of masquerade bands (troupes) of participants in costume, totaling over 7,000 performers, with the potential to grow. Each band comprises approximately 250 masqueraders, wearing exotic and often extravagant costumes. The parade also includes steel bands, large individual costumes, the Kings and Queens of each band, and a variety of Caribbean music. On Carnival Sunday, these Mas Bands parade on the route, accompanied by live music, DJs on large trucks and steel bands. The parade culminates at the Event Site where a competition is held for the title of Band of the Year, King and Queen of Carnival, and other categories. The competition and other activities in the park will attract over 60,000 patrons, including those who view the parade along the route and attend auxiliary events thought out the county. Parents will bring their kids out to enjoy the beauty and pageantry and to learn about Caribbean culture. 4 Junior Carnival Miami Broward Junior Carnival provides Children with the joy of discovery and the reward of participation in a community supported activity. Junior Bands discover the treasures of their heritage by researching, discussing, creating and enacting, historical and or political event of Caribbean and international culture, each discovers the history and identity that is theirs by right. By involving the community in the process, either as teachers, supporters or presentation attendees, our community not only learns through participation, but also comes to recognize and respect the rich diversity of world cultures. By allowing children to develop their own ideas in a creative context, we strengthen and instill a sense of accomplishment in those participating in the production and creation of a band and individual characters. By recognizing that Junior Carnival can mount an artistic production, our youth will experience the satisfaction of accomplishment, community support, and the psychological framework of success that can be applied to other aspects of their lives. The participation of political and community leaders, cultural personalities, and students in the process of creating a cultural event helps to erase the sometimes artificial, sometimes antagonistic barriers that exist among these groups. Since all participants are involved in one common goal the realization of artistic event-all participants will exchange roles. 5 Carnival Village The concept of Carnival village is to showcase the artistry and pageantry in a community setting, featuring an arcade of story-telling, art pieces, books, carving, costume displays, Arts and Craft booths and sumptuous food, whetting one s appetite and setting the stage for the main Carnival event. Central Broward Regional Park will host the second annual Carnival Village commencing Friday October 9th 2015 with three events back to back, gates open at 3 pm for King and Queen and Panorama King & Queen Friday October 9th This is the start of 2015 extravaganza. The two competitions tonight will feature Individual Bands showcas-ing their incredible costumes that will vie for King and Queen and best Male and Female Individual, each costume will relate to the theme each band will be presenting. Additional entertainment feature Artists appearances, and music representing all the islands as the evening progresses. Panorama Friday October 9th The Park doors open at 3:00 p.m. as Bands start tuning for the grandeur of the evening. You will be serenaded by Florida s finest Steel Orchestras while they compete for the Top Title. Steel Pan originated in the Twin Island State of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago over a century ago. This is the only musical instrument invented in Twentieth Century and there are Steel Orchestras all over the word, playing the finest music you will ever listen to. J Ouvert Saturday October 10th Before the sun rises, J Ouvert Bands will be assembling at Central Broward Regional Park to start the sec- around the track of the Park. This early MAS is for the true die-hard player. It s a ritual enacted to the accompanied of mud, oils, pitchforks, pointed tails and music. In essence it is a celebration of the darker side of human like. Most revelers usually join sections in which hundreds of people party together.
