2 CONCEPT In Uri, Aseem Foundation with the support of the Indian Army, began multiple developmental projects there, one of which was the Uri Premier Cricket League. Started in 2017, the league received a tremendous response. 50 teams participated in what turned out to be the biggest ever tournament that the district had seen! After the final match, a team of 15 comprised of the best players from the UPL was formed, which was then flown to Pune to play against cricket clubs from across the city. The objective of UPFT was the provide exposure to these talented and impressionable youth and offer them a chance to interact with similar minded youth from Pune, thereby fostering a much-needed connection between the diverse youth of India.

3 URI Uri, a small town located in Jammu & Kashmir, has long exemplified the friendship between the soldiers of the Indian Army posted there and the ordinary civilians. When one thinks of Uri, one thinks of the Uri Terrorist Attack of However, the people of Uri have always remained optimistic even in the harshest circumstances. The normal life has continued even through the disturbance and instability. Schools in Uri have remained open for the youth, demonstrating their firm focus on education and sports. Younus Saleem Wani Uri even has an average literacy rate of percent, higher than the national average of 76 percent!

4 SAMBA Samba town is situated on range of Shivalik hills alongside the National Highway 1-A / on the bank of river Basantar at a distance of forty km from Jammu city. District Samba is bounded by District Udhampur in the North, District Kathua in the East, Tehsils Jammu and Bishnah of District Jammu in the west, while on the southern side it is separated from Pakistan by Working Boundary Line. Samba has an average literacy rate of 80%. About 85% of population is Hindu majority of which are Rajputs followed by Brahmins and Guptas. Samba faced two terrorist attacks in 2008 and 2013 around 16 people which includes locals and soldiers lost their life.

5 UPFT HIGHLIGHTS Teams and involvement of more than 5000 people in Uri Premier League (Pre-Tournament of UPFT). Visit to Uri by Mr. Sunandan Lele, Sr. Sports Journalist, former cricketer and cricket commentator. Video conference with Bharat Ratna Awardee Mr. Sachin Tendulkar. Practice matches with Deccan Gymkhana Academy, who also graciously hosted the event, Poona Club, Pune Youth Club(PYC), and Varroc-Vengsarkar Academy. Visit to Pune International Cricket Stadium in Gahunje. Interaction with Mr. Pandurang Salgaonkar, a cricket legend and ex- chief curator of MCA Stadium, Pune. Friendship Trophy match conducted on October 8, Chief Guest, General Jalaj Bhola and Lt. General Patankar (retired) with Mr. Abhay Apte (President, Maharashtra Cricket Association) handed over the Friendship Trophy to the Pune team and applauded the spirit and efforts of both teams.

6 Mr. Sunandan Lele, on his visit to Uri, arranged a video conference with Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, popularly known as the God of Cricket. The young players were thrilled beyond words to interact with the famous cricketeer!

9 OBJECTIVES UPFT 2017 To introduce Uri and Pune to each other. To provide exposure to the youth from Uri regarding cricket, fitness and everything in between. To provide an opportunity to the people of Maharashtra to witness the power of determination and hard work that the youth of Uri demonstrated. Even in such turbulent times and even without proper sport kits, they had continued to practice hard and believe in their dream about a career in Cricket. USPFT 2018 Involving one more team from Samba and expanding this competition into a Tri Series between Uri-Pune-Samba In 2018, our aim is to broaden our reach and awaken the people s interest. To use sports as a medium to get people involved with this initiative. To facilitate a conversation between people from all walks of life. To send a cricket team from Maharashtra to Uri and Samba to expose them to the lifestyle there. Connect Uri and Samba to Pune.

10 EVENT SCHEDULE NOVEMBER 2018 THE FRIENDSHIP TROPHY MATCH WILL BE CONDUCTED ON 11 NOVEMBER 2018 CURRENTLY, THE EVENT SCHEDULE IS PLANNED FOR 7 DAYS. AROUND 30 PLAYERS AND 4 INSTRUCTORS WILL VISIT PUNE FOR THE TOURNAMENT. DURATION OF THE TOUR WILL BE FROM 6 NOV TO 18 NOV DURING THIS PERIOD, THE PLAYERS WILL PLAY MULTIPLE GAMES AGAINST CRICKET CLUBS OF PUNE. WE WILL ALSO BE ARRANGING VISITS TO CRICKET MUSEUMS, DISCUSSIONS WITH PHYSIOS REGARDING FITNESS AND HEALTH, AND A RECREATIONAL VISIT TO THE COASTAL REGION OF MAHARASHTRA. MEET-AND-GREET

17 For too long now, the youth of the border states of India have been caught in the cross hairs of the ongoing turbulence in our country. What has gone unnoticed, however, is the spirit and enthusiasm of the youth from the smaller towns such as Uri and their determination to be part of something positive. We believe that through purpose and faith, this collaboration between the youth can bring the nation together for a better tomorrow. And what better way to do that than through sports?
