5 8 Welcome Welcome 9 Welcome to Your Handbook 2018 This guide provides you with everything you need to know about your Club in 2018, including contacts and fixtures for our sides was a great year for CBHCC, our senior men winning both the ECB Cheshire Premier League and, for a record eighth time, the Cheshire Cup. Success too for our women in the T20 KO Trophy. Things never stand still at CBHCC on and off the field and we ve an exciting calendar of events this year including the World Series Last Man Standing Championships in August, a Cheshire CCC three day game with Berkshire and the little matter of Lancashire 2 nd XI taking on Warwickshire in June. 14 26 Members information 2018 Members information Obituary Colin Stockton Stocky was one of the Club s best known and most popular members. Colin made his cricketing debut in 1949, aged 15 and became a fixture at CBH winter and summer for more than 60 years. He scored 2,669 1 st XI runs at an average of 10.38, believing his talents were underappreciated, partly borne out by a highest score of 47 in 1971 against the Liverpool Competition s quickest bowler. In all Colin featured in 521 Liverpool Competition 1 st XI games taking 792 wickets more than 1,000 including cup games. His best figures were 8-41 against Birkenhead Park in He played in every 1 st XI game between 1963 to 1972, usually stationed at first slip where he took 171 catches. Off the field Colin was a generous man. As long as an opposition member was in the Club, the beer jug wouldn t be empty. As a long standing committee member for the cricket and football sections, there were few jobs he didn t undertake, with particular attention to the Bar and Ground Committee. Colin was a driving force behind the Cricket Club s 1973 Centenary celebrations and cricketers and footballers alike will long remember Stocky as one of Boughton Hall s outstanding personalities. Obituary Roger Cash One of Chester Boughton Hall s most active supporters, Roger Cash, died in February, aged 86. Roger played occasionally for the 2nd XI while at the King s School, Chester in the 1940s, later representing and captaining Capenhurst. Although a modest player, he had a great love of sport, particularly badminton and cricket and was proud to become an MCC member. He was also a keen supporter of Lancashire CCC. Many of Roger s friends were Chester members and during the 1980s he was regularly to be found at the Club on summer Saturdays. Having sold his loss adjustment business, Roger took on the role of secretary for both the cricket club and the limited company. Eager to increase the Club s profile, Roger was a driving force in bringing Cheshire s Nat West Trophy matches to the ground, personally providing the requisite financial guarantees. Such personal generosity was also shown in his contributions to purchase new ground equipment, his repayment for which was literally, peanuts! Roger continued his committee roles throughout the hectic period of the building of the new pavilion, relinquishing only when the work was completed in Thereafter he remained a loyal and constant supporter, following the cricket teams home and away.
