2 Captains Corner And yet again a few months have pass by and we played golf on some of our best courses in Australia. I hope you all enjoyed the last few months of golf and I hope to see full playing fields in the New Year During our August game, held at North Lakes we participated in our yearly Queensland Cup competition, competing against the Sunshine Coast club. We had a total of 107 players at the day, with 23 guest and 33 Sunshine Coast players. Unfortunately for Brisbane, the Sunny Coast boys brought along their A game and had a very convincing win on the day. More details to follow in the match summary. Our September game at Carbrook was one of the lowest attendance games ever, with 48 players playing a Carbrook in very good conditioning. I personally think it was in the best condition we have ever played the course. We had a big contingent of players attending the Zimbabwe golf day thinning out our numbers of attending members. From the 23 rd 25 th October 19 of our club members represented Brisbane in this Year s Nationals tournament held at The Vines in Perth. We again as previous years were leading the pack when it came to enjoying the weekend so much that for the second year in a row one of our club members won the overall crying towel. I want to mention David Hall as the new keeper of this record for Brisbane, although not winning any of the days Crying towels, he won with an overall score of 44 points for the weekend (19 & 25).David was not the only one competing for the towel, Rob Dunsmuir tried his very best every day with an overall score of 45 (21 & 24). In Rob s defence I have to mention his ability to stay awake, arriving Friday afternoon from a two day wine tour, he lead a pack of six (Tony Schafer, Dave Barr, Sean Bell, Paul McIlroy and myself) to play coinage till 2.30am on Saturday morning, and apparently after Paul and I left, continued further. Off course therefore the score of 21 points on Saturday. Unfortunately for his liver the day continue to the same time Sunday morning, staying awake with almost the full contingent of attending Nomads members to support the Boks against the Kiwi s. Regrettably for most of us, except Kel Hirini and Gary Mulholland, we were supporting the losing team. Due to the big contingent of Brisbane players enjoying the Friday night air, with the scores Saturday below average, which meant we end absolutely last on the day. But when the rest of the Nomads did the same on Saturday night, we show them we can play golf after a late night, increasing our overall standing to second for the weekend. Well done Brisbane, I am proud of your improved golf and actions on and off the course. To Paul McIlroy who has now passed his President s jacket to Chris Fichardt, welcome back into the red Brisbane shirt, we appreciate everything you have done for Nomads the last six years as part of Natex, now you can start enjoying the games, without all the responsibilities. At our Hope Island game Warwick presented a cheque for $20,000 to Sporting Wheelies who we supported this year as our charity. I again want to congratulate Warwick on a very well managed Charity Day, and let Gary know he can count on all members for support in preparation of his Charity day next year. Nomads support to Charities from inception in Australia has now after the Perth and Page 2 Dec 2015
3 Sydney North Charity days increased to almost $ We had our biggest field to date this year at the Hope Island game with 86 players attending. Our final game for the year and first game at Brisbane Golf club presented even bigger numbers than Hope Island with a total of 88 players. Our Gold cup competition was played and the final round of the Peter Thompson knock out was contested. Nationals 2016 date and venue has been finalized. Brisbane will host the Nationals at Hope Island from October I am looking for members to be part of the organising team, especially someone to look after sponsors, please let me know if you are interested to be part of this team. Registration will open early 2016 and will be based on a first in and paid registration process as I expect we will have a full field of 144 players and we will have to limit the numbers to each club. Our clubs membership is continuing to grow with a total of 111 members and 15 probationer members. We also have at least two new guests at every game, which mean further growth for the club and I again want to thank all members for the continuous marketing of the club to your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances. Below is a summary of the 2015 games and results: 2015 Attendance and Scoring Field Points Gailes Indro P G Coast Bwater Em Lakes Nudgee Sanc Cove G Greens N Lakes Carbrook Win Lakes H Island Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Members Guests Total Avg Scoring Max Score I urge all our members to focus our attention on the speed of play and request arrival at least 40 minutes before the tee off time for registration. As we now have shotgun starts at every game, the clubs want to start the pre match procedures at least 15 minutes before tee off, and if members Page 3 Dec 2015
4 arrive late, we run behind the rest of the field. I appreciate all the members support with registration and speed of play. As this is my last newsletter I want to thank all players and guest for a great year, I thoroughly enjoyed the year as Captain and I hope all of you will return in 2016 to help grow Brisbane into one of the best social golf club in the world. I appreciate all the support and banter during the year and want to wish Warwick and his committee all the best for I wish you all a Blessed Christmas Season and a Prosperous New year, hope I see most of you at our first game at Indooroopilly on 17 January Yours in Nomads Nell Schoeman Page 4 Dec 2015

Unfortunately Sunshine Coast arrived with their A Game and had a significant win with and avarage of more than two shots better than Brisbane. The avarage score for the days was a very low Wim and Ralph both looks very happy with the new addition to Ralphs trophey cupboard. Page 6 Dec 2015
