3 MANAGER S NOTES As many of our golfing members are aware the irrigation system that we currently have is 30 years old. The sprinkler heads which are old, brass impact driven heads, have their filter systems (Rock Filters) on the bottom of the unit. Because of this design, the whole head must be dug up out of the ground to clean the filter. However, several years ago these filters where removed because of an algae issue in the 17 th pond. The algae were notorious for clogging the filters and disrupting the water flow through the sprinklers. The removal of these filters has led to trash such as fish bones, small rocks and sediment getting in the current sprinkler heads. In turn, on a regular basis, these heads get stuck. Sometimes they run all night or just run in the same spot until they cycle off. Either way, these current sprinkler heads are inefficient, costly and outdated. So costly in fact, that we have spent about $26,000 on parts alone since January The solution is to replace these sprinkler heads with a new, totally incased, gear driven rotor sprinkler heads These new sprinkler heads have filters that are accessible from the top. If necessary, the screens can be cleaned in 15 minutes. No digging required. Also, these new sprinkler heads can be set to water a limited area. With this new feature, Dewayne can direct the heads to water the green only, not the green side itself. In turn, areas like the front of green #6 or the right side of green #8 will have a chance to dry out when the sprinkler head is directed at the green only. The Price: Dwayne can purchase the 240 necessary sprinkler heads at a 42% discount of $44,000. The Board has decided to finance this project through a secured loan with the bank and use the Sponsor Board funds to make the monthly payments. On average, these payments will be about what we are currently spending to maintain our current system. This much needed update will also free up a tremendous amount of time that Dewayne and his crew can use to more easily maintain your golf course. Finally, this will be somewhat messy. Most of the changing of the sprinkler heads will happen through the winter. This is a time when the grass is not growing which equates to the repaired areas not healing until late spring or early summer of next year. We ask that you please be patient with these changes as they will prove to be monetarily beneficial to the club and improve the playability of the golf course. Tournament News We held our Third Annual Cedar Creek Open on August 4 th and 5 th. There were 34 participants and the tournament was financially successful for the club. We had a 2 rainfall the day before we aerified and that provided enough moisture within the profile of our green s surfaces to allow a complete core to be pulled. This month we will be concentrating on getting our pre-emergent applied to our course along with our wall to wall fertilizer applications. We plan to apply extra fertilizer to #1 and #9 fairways to strengthen the new turf before winter. We realize that our health and well being is much more important than our golf score. However, we did have nine in attendance at our last Scramble. We look forward to cooler weather so we can have a good turnout once again. Plans are in progress for our upcoming WGA Club Championship on September 13 th & 14th. A sign up sheet is posted in the Women s Locker Room. There will be a luncheon after play on Friday. Rhonda Brooks is our Tournament Chairperson and is available if anyone has questions about this tournament. We also look forward to hosting the Guys & Gals Tournament on Saturday, September 29 th. This is a very laid back enjoyable tournament for all levels of golfers. It is a Scramble with the winners being chosen in a blind draw. It includes a meal after play where everyone can relax, unwind and talk about all their good and bad shots. I would like to welcome Samuel Abrahamson on board as a new culinary team member.

He has created and implemented new dishes and menus that have been successful in previous establishments, the latest of which was Airfare in Harbor Point.

Zach has trained at Keiser Culinary University in Florida and has worked at many other establishments putting together flavorful dishes reaching a wide array of pallets.
