The dates have been moved to Sept. 29th-Oct. 2 nd. This was done because all the courses are aerating their greens the week of 9/15, and this will give us some time for the greens to have healed. The location has also been moved, but not very far. We now will be staying at the Holiday Inn Biltmore West. This is a six story hotel with indoor/outdoor pools, and all of our functions will be in the same location. We will be playing a different course each day, all within 30 minutes of the hotel. The Bagby trip was a big success with 80 players having made reservations, and all 80 showing up. Meadow Links was in fine shape, except for the bunkers, and Don Wood ordered up some great weather which held for all 3 days. Larry Thomas had made arrangements for a very special seafood restaurant to open up just for us, and about 40 members enjoyed a terrific meal. The trip to Clayton, Ga. is coming up fast, so start getting your reservations in ASAP. Ed Nugent - President THE TEE BOX by Pierce Richardson The word is as expected, Bagby was a great trip; it is my favorite one of the year. I was unable to join you this time, but you can count on me for next year, I am already looking forward to the trip. Due to some family and health issues I have not been out there with you much the last few weeks but that will change shortly, sorry to disappoint some of you I will be short this month, but that means I get double the space next month! A couple of things for you to think about 1) Why did I (you) join SGAA, 2) What can I do to speed up play, and 3) What can I do to make SGAA a better group.

2 The Tee Box - continued Humor for the month: What if you were playing in the club championship tournament finals and the match was halved at the end of 17 holes. You had the honor and hit your ball a modest two hundred fifty yards to the middle of the fairway, leaving a simple six iron to the pin. Your opponent then hits his ball, lofting it deep into the woods to the right of the fairway. Being the golfing gentleman that you are, you help your opponent look for his ball. Just before the permitted five minute search period ends, your opponent says: "Go ahead and hit your second shot and if I don't find it in time, I'll concede the match." You hit your ball, landing it on the green, stopping about ten feet from the pin. About the time your ball comes to rest, you hear your opponent exclaim from deep in the woods: "I found it!" The second sound you hear is a click, the sound of a club striking a ball and the ball comes sailing out of the woods and lands on the green, stopping no more than six inches from the hole. Now here is the ethical dilemma: Do you pull the cheating bastard s ball out of your pocket and confront him with it or do you keep your mouth shut. ELDERLY COUPLE ON A ROAD TRIP... While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip. When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table, and she didn't miss them until they had been driving for about forty minutes. By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around, in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses. Wed., & Thurs. 5/29 &30 All the way back, the elderly husband became the classic grouchy old man. He fussed and complained, and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive. The more he chided her, the more agitated he became. He just wouldn't let up for a single minute. To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant. As the woman got out of the car, and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old geezer yelled to her, "While you're in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit card". This coming week is National Senior Mental Health Week. You can do YOUR part by remembering to contact at least one unstable Senior to show you care.

Jerry had been a member of the SGAA since 2008, and will be missed. The next out of town trip is Kingwood Country Club and Resort in Clayton, Ga. The reservation for is included in this newsletter. Register early, and enjoy the fun at this wonderful course. April was a pretty good month for many. We had 784 players (not including Bagby) for an average of 71 per play date. There were a total of 341 Birdies, and 8 EAGLES. WE ARE GOOD!!! RULES We must have them to keep the playing field fair for all. This is a review of 2 of the rules of golf: 1) 14 Club Rule Each player shall have no more than 14 clubs in their bag. 2) The meaning of the colored stakes a) White stakes or a line bordering the outer edge of a given hole is Out Of Bounds. Inside the confines of the fairway, the white line indicates ground under repair. b) Yellow stakes indicate a water hazard crossing the fairway. If your ball goes into this hazard you can play it where it lies; drop ball 2 club lengths from where the ball crossed the line no closer to the hole; or play ball from the original spot. c) Red stakes are for a water hazard that borders a given hole, not crossing the fairway.

4 RULES - Continued If the ball goes into the water, the player has the same options as (b) above. The only other possible alternative for b or c is if the course has a designated drop area. It Promises Me A Thing Called Par, If I Hit It Straight And Far. To Master Such A Tiny Ball, Should Not Be Very Hard At All. But My Desires The Ball Refuses, And Does Exactly As It Chooses. It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies, And Disappears Before My Eyes. Often It Will Have A Whim, To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim. With Miles of Grass On Which To Land, It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand. Then Has Me Offering Up My Soul, If Only It Would Find The Hole. But We Will All Be Back Tomorrow.
