2 Gyro International Convention July 11 th 17 th 2016 Gyro District VII and the Gyro Club of McKenzie Island, Red Lake, Ontario Canada. So far we have Pat Rynd and Larry Larson from Akron planning on attending the convention. Gloria and Vicki will be busy fishing, golfing, sailing on boat tours and enjoying the gold mine tour. We will be dancing along with the Aboriginal Indians at the powwow beside the campfire and looking up to see the fireworks. Sorry if you can t make it! We ll take pictures! and have some stories to tell! Friday May 13 th 2016 Call Skipper Croft, don t miss the boat on this fun day. We always fill two boats first come first served. The Stag Fish Fry will be scheduled for later in the summer. Silver Lake Country Club Outdoor - Summer Cookout Party starts at 6:00PM Cash Bar This is what we are working on: Summer Picnic theme at the outdoor shelter (we have the outdoor pavilion and we are setting up a tent in case it rains) It Won t! Summer Picnic Menu with grilled favorites and sides. Cash Bar open with your favorite beverages. Golfing prior to the dinner for those interested in playing the Silver Lake course. Installation of Club Officers with special recognitions and awards. Country Club casual attire. Chartered Party Bus Trip Thursday May 19, 2016 Fort Meigs morning tour and historical commentary from Sharon Myers followed by a trip to the Hollywood Casino, Toledo for lunch and gaming in the afternoon. We still have room on the bus for a few more riders, don t get shut out, call me right now if you can join us. Pre-payment is under way for this party. Once again Akron is leading the way in great party planning.

Potential new members will be invited. Get your list of Gyro candidates ready and start inviting them to this stag.. May 19 th 2016 Chartered Bus Trip to Camp Meigs & Toledo Casino Walker & Myers Special historical commentary by Sharon Myers en-route. June 4 th Stag Fish Fry Larson, Myers, Tischler & Loewlein June 17 th th Akron Gyro Anniversary Lippincott & Larson Summer Picnic SLCC Officers Installation and awards presentation July 11 th 17 th International Conv. Red Lake, Ont. Rynd & Larson Convention in Northern Ontario. (Rynd & Larson attending, maybe, hopefully, others) August 20 th 2016 Akron / Canton golf outing Larson Stein Combined outing with Canton & other D-1 clubs. A Summer Pool party and dinner is planned after the golfing. Chris and Linda Snyder, Canton hosting. Non golfers can swim all day if they so desire. Special details TBA September 23 rd 25 th D-1 Convention Canton Canton Gyros Convention in Canton Pat Rynd going out as governor, Randy Tarrier from Powell coming in. We should be able to generate some interest in attending since the convention is in our backyard. Akron will be hosting a hospitality suite in honor of Governor Pat Rynd and Gloria for their dedication to the fraternity of fun and friendship. Friday September 30 th Annual Clam Bake Larson & Walker Always a great party Lots of food, people will attend from other clubs October 1 st 2016 Annual breakfast in the park Cleveland Heights November 2016 Open (we need the rest after a busy summer and fall) December 16 th 2016 Christmas Party Fairlawn CC We are hoping others will step up and assist with party planning to help those listed. Also, we are always open to your ideas. Small groups meeting all year. Brewing, Hunting, Fishing, Shooting, Golf, Classic Car shows and others. Is your name on this list as a party planner? I m sure there are some great party ideas that we have not experienced yet. Grab a theme, plan a party or small group outing, it s fun.

5 Akron Gyro Chartered Bus Trip Thursday May 19 th, 2016 We will all gather to catch to bus at 8:00AM We will meet either at Silver Lake CC or the Walmart Parking lot just off Hudson Drive at the Graham Road Exit off SR 8 The bus ride over to Perrysburg will include donuts and rolls and a morning cocktail for those so inclined. Sharon Myers will give us a historic perspective regarding the War of 1812 on the trip over. After touring Fort Meigs we will travel to the Hollywood Casino in Toledo for lunch, gaming and Gyro friendship. The Casino has offered us free play coupons and we re working on other perks for the group. The bus ride home will include snacks and adult beverages. We will leave Toledo around 5:00 PM and should be back in the Akron area between 7:30 8:00PM Right now we re looking at about $40.00pp that would include the admission ticket into Fort Meigs, The Chartered bus, food, snack and beverages on the bus. Right now the registration is at 38 and we have room for more guests on the bus. Gyros and ladies from Akron, Canton, and Cleveland Heights have signed up to join us. Should be tons of fun. He s tired and sleep a lot, and as you know he is hearing impaired. Please keep Harry and Chuckie in your prayers. As the weather has now turned to a more summer like climate, I ve included a little poem for all of our Pasture Pool Players. Golf Poem In My Hand I Hold A Ball, White And Dimpled, And Rather Small. Oh, How Bland It Does Appear, This Harmless Looking Little Sphere. By Its Size I Could Not Guess The Awesome Strength It Does Possess. But Since I Fell Beneath Its Spell, I've Wandered Through The Fires Of Hell. My Life Has Not Been Quite The Same Since I Chose To Play This Stupid Game. It Rules My Mind For Hours On End; A Fortune It Has Made Me Spend. It Has Made Me Curse And Made Me Cry, And Hate Myself And Want To Die. It Promises Me A Thing Called Par, If I Hit It Straight And Far. To Master Such A Tiny Ball, Should Not Be Very Hard At All. But My Desires The Ball Refuses, And Does Exactly As It Chooses. It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies, And Disappears Before My Eyes. Often It Will Have A Whim, To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim. With Miles Of Grass On Which To Land, It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand. Then Has Me Offering Up My Soul, If Only It Would Find The Hole. It's Made Me Whimper Like A Pup, And Swear That I Will Give It Up. And Take To Drink To Ease My Sorrow, But The Ball Knows... I'll Be Back Tomorrow.
