2 January 2018 Sweet Times Page 02 HOW TO SUBMIT ARTICLES Articles for Sweet Times may be submitted for consideration for publication by placing them in the box at the clubhouse. We must have your name and phone number, in case we have questions. The deadline is the 22 nd of every month. If you would like to have your anniversary included in Sweet Times, we will need to know the month, day, and how many years you are celebrating. We need this information before the deadline for the issue in which it should appear. As a reminder, we do not retain anniversary dates from year to year, so you will need to submit the date to us each year. Changes or items for the calendar should be submitted by whoever is in charge of that event. We do keep a listing of birthdays, but if yours is not already included, we need the month and day only. 3 January 2018 Sweet Times Page 03 Meeting date: December 5, 2017 Sweetwater Golf Board of Directors The meeting was called to order by the President, Perry Harkness. Present were Perry Harkness, Gwen Julin, Butch Clark, Mike Hasselmann, John Mueller, Danny Bell and Jeff Berdini. A quorum was established. Guests present were: Steve Gade, BOD Liaison. A motion was made by Butch Clark and seconded by Danny Bell to accept the minutes of the November 7, 2017 meeting as posted. Motion carried. John Mueller presented the Treasurer's report. A motion was made by Butch Clark and seconded by Gwen Julin to accept the report. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS: 1.Two ball washers were found in maintenance yard. Parts have been ordered and they will be placed on course when parts arrive. 2. Two new sets of flags will be ordered. One set will be kept for immediate replacement of the other when the time comes, in order to avoid delay. Butch suggested looking into the Prestige Flag Co., as their flags are of a higher quality and should last longer. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Perry welcomed the newly elected members of the Board, and Gwen on re-election. 2. The Turkey Trot tournament had a fairly good turnout, considering the number of residents absent from the community for the holiday. 3. The format for the Christmas tournament will be a two person scramble and for New Years a scramble to the green, then all players putt. Perry asked for suggestions re: new formats to mix it up some. 4. The re-positioning of the forward 4 th tee was discussed: a-the temporary placement last weekend was a surprise to the golf board, who had no fore-knowledge of it; b-steve Gade informed us the BOD is looking into moving the retention pond to the right and extending the present back tee forward to make room for a new tee position. 5. Dates for 2018 tournaments were discussed. 6. The rules and regulations were discussed in detail. Some possible changes and/or clarifications will be presented to the BOD for approval when finalized. 7. Berms. Perry, Gwen, and Jeff will ride around the course and try to determine the position of all berms. This would help clarify General rule 14. Additionally, many players seem unaware hitting from the berms is not allowed.

4 January 2018 Sweet Times Page Butch inquired re: the golf board possibly donating $ towards complete new cart paths, but it was determined the cost would be too much for our contribution to really help. 9. Motion was made by Gwen and seconded by Danny, and carried in order to allot $100 to buy lunch for the maintenance crew. Perry pointed out this is a tradition for the holidays. 10. Perry asked about simplifying the dress code. Discussion was tabled to the next meeting The next regularly scheduled meeting is January 2, 2018, 2 PM in the library. A motion to adjourn was made by Butch Clark and seconded John Mueller. Motion carried. Jeffrey Berdini, Secretary, Sweetwater Golf Board of Directors Respectfully submitted. CAP stands for Citizen's Assisted Patrol. It is a crime prevention program started by Sheriff Grady Judd. Citizens patrol are volunteers who drive or walk the community on a regular patrol to report incidents and problems to law enforcement and provide a visible presence that deters criminal activity. It has been proven that communities with the CAP program have been able to deter crime through the visibility of the daily patrols within their communities. A six hour training course is required for participating in the program. Then you return to Sweetwater and we will train you for what needs to be done here in our community. Each volunteer is required to provide 8 hours of service each month. (2 hours a week) If you are interested and need an application, please see Joe Akin at 286 Dartmouth.

17 January 2018 Sweet Times Page 17 THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU To everyone who helped light up Sweetwater for the Holidays. Every year I think "HOW CAN IT EVER BE MORE BEAUTIFUL?" And then the next year comes...and IT ALWAYS IS!!! Thank you to all, but a HUGE thank you to all the team captains: Cheryl and Perry Harkness.where would we be without your help? For those of you who don't know, not only do these 2 wonderful people take charge of decorations outside of the clubhouse, but they also check, daily, to make sure everything is still shining brightly. Lucille Spaulding, to you and your girls, the Ballroom was glowing this year. The extra lights on the tree were amazing! Great Job!!! Ritta and Jim Caldwell.you and your team made Sweetwater so bright and cheerful, the space shuttles could probably see our community from space! Again, these two wonderful residents check all month to be sure everything stays lit up outside of our gates. It's a massive undertaking, and they volunteer every year!! Thank you to my husband, Ed, my brother in law Mike Kahn and to Richard Bernier for decorating our blue Chanukah bush entering the gate. To those who decorated the Pub side of the Clubhouse, a bright and cheery thanks. It looks MARVELOUS! And thank you to my sisters, Linda Kahn and Heidi Bernier and their new team on decorating the festive interior of the pub. For being FIRST TIMERS...you did a GREAT JOB!!! Thank you to those who decorated the Pro Shop and the Lake. Thank you to those who decorated all the golf tees. It seems like this year almost all of the residents changed their outside lights to green and red. Riding around, it takes my breath away how beautiful this community is, and how we all came together to join in the Holiday Spirit. Wishing you all a Wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy, HEALTHY New Year. Jo-Ann Swindelles p.s. Take Down is January 7, 2018 at 9am...Coffee and doughnuts will be served...

21 January 2018 Sweet Times Page 21 Board of Directors Informational Meeting Friday December 8, :00 PM Present Larry Bearfield, Steve Gade, Fred Mullin, Bruce Julin, Ed Swindelles, and Mike Kahn. Absent: Cliff Jackman. Larry- The water well by hole #13 is shutdown temporarily due to sand in the tank. Running on the front well only. Pulling the pump and sending down a scope to get options for repair. Treasurer Cliff Jackman had bypass surgery, he is out of ICU and doing good.. We had an issue regarding the pet rule, a resident had 2 dogs that were out of compliance but due to health issues they were issued a 30 day extension. Thanks to Ruth Freer overseeing the planting of the 258 trees out front. Hope that helps with noise reduction. We are still trying to get the yard debris removed from out front. Was working with FEMA, but they seem to have walked away, so we have contacted our trash company to see if they will help us. Ed- Christmas Bingo was successful and we had the Caroling event. Bruce- Thanks to Larry Bearfield and Charlie Grisdale for replacing rotten boards at the Bocce Ball courts. Also Lester Patterson, Paul & Natalie Stillitano and Laurent Gravelle for putting in score posts and ball racks. Thanks to Laurent Gravelle for putting in a new pickle ball court, with painting and a net partition. The shuffleboard is all cleaned up. Thanks to Roger Willis for putting up the Pub canopy. And thanks to Jim Caldwell for repairing and replacing the 1/2 moons around the exercise room. Have a request for an indoor table top shuffle board table. Suggested to take out one of the pool tables and turn the other 2 sideways and put the shuffleboard next to the wall. Would like to get some input from the community. Fred- Waiting on the roofer to fix the Clubhouse. Also working on a policy regarding individual house generators. When there is no power in the community you usually open your windows and the exhaust from the generators comes in your windows. The RSG Committee is working on developing a policy. RSG Committee is also getting ideas on cleaning the back tank well problems. Steve- Work on the #4 tee was authorized and is only temporary, just a try. We are in need of CAP volunteers to work 1 day a week for 2 hours. You can walk, ride your bike or drive the golf cart. See Joe or Jeree Akin if interested. There are 2 new posts at the front gate. It is meant to keep people from going in the exit gate. The gate closes in 3 seconds. Some people are hitting the gate remote from 17/92 and speeding in to get through the gate. It has been slowed down. If you know where the BBQ pit cover is, please return it. Mike- Working on complaints. Comments: Ray White-153 Victoria. Cars parked out front, we don't want it to look like a used car lot. It should stop. LB-working on a permit now for 1 car only at a time and for only 10 days at a time. Jeanette DeLisi-178 Dartmouth. Want to mention how beautiful the community looks with the Christmas decorations. Had 42 volunteers that put them up. We are still taking donations for the Veterans Memorial plaque. We received $300 from Social Club, $300 from the Chorus and $200 from the aluminum can fund. Juliann Berdini-2 Edinburgh. There needs to be some type of rule or policy for the front property to cut someone off from selling anything out there other than a vehicle. ES-Talking about 1 vehicle and a 10 day limit. Jo Ann Swindelles-312 Townbridge. There is still time to drop off toys for the kids at the school. They will be picking them up on December 20th. Liza Willis-60 Straphmore. On the Christmas cards, please use the correct address. And a suggestion of leaving your return address or name in case there is a problem, so we know who to give the card back to. Karen Besecker-139 Victoria. Isn't there a rule you have to wash your home once a year. ES-no rule for annual, just when it gets dirty. You can report a dirty home to the office. Gwen Julin-117 Victoria. Is there going to be a new job opening in the Pro Shop? LB-yes part time 2 days a week, if interested see either myself or Steve Gade.
