DG&TC is very excited about the 1st Annual Holiday Extravaganza here at the club. On November 20 from 6-9pm we will have local merchants set up booths in the ballroom. Get a jump start on your Holiday Season. Join us for a evening of shopping! The Maxwell Cup is scheduled for October 21 & 22. Come out and witness the battle for the 2017 Maxwell Cup In order to keep the best practice area possible, we need you help! When practicing PLEASE pattern your divots LINEAR like the image on the left. This will help the range tee to grow in faster and help us provide you with the best practice facilities. 3 P a g e 3 D u n c a n G o l f & T e n n i s C l u b Our summer PGA junior league made it to the Regional Finals beating Kansas City s All Stars but fell short against the Arkansas All Stars. Our juniors were the only team to advance from Oklahoma for the second time in 3 years! We will begin our Fall Junior League run at the end of September. Duncan G&TC will be represented by 3 teams in 2 different divisions. Good luck! Rules Wizard: Q: In match play, Player A is 15 feet from the hole but off the putting surface. Player B is 18 feet from the hole and on the putting surface. Player A plays first and holes the chip. What is the ruling? A: Player A played out of turn. Order of play is whomever is furthest from the hole will play first unless permission is granted. Player B has the option of cancelling Player A s stroke and having them replay the shot in the correct order. Drive Chip & Putt Duncan G&TC junior Anna Fritts has continued to plow through the competition in the drive, chip and putt competition and will be competing at Southern Hills in the Regional Finals. The winner from Southern Hills will punch their ticket to the National Finals at Augusta National. Anna has assured us that her coaches will be on the plane with her going to Augusta!!!

6 P a g e 6 D u n c a n G o l f & T e n n i s C l u b T i p s F r o m t h e P r o s LOW WITH THE LEAD SHOULDER Learning how to rotate your body will stabilize the clubface dramatically and tighten your misses. Most players instinct is to stay behind the ball and try to elevate the ball by hanging back. I see this more prevalently in players trying to shift their weight to the forward leg. Here is the issue. When you shift your weight, your hips move forward causing your spine to tilt back and have an ascending attack at the ball. This is counter productive to hitting solid iron shots and wedges. I prefer to see players have the feeling from the top of the backswing that their lead should is turning down and behind them. This will level your shoulders out at impact and allow you to maintain a forward spine tilt at impact. Players will often see their divot pattern change after making this adjustment. They will start to see the divots start after the ball often resulting in added distance. BE CAREFUL...players MUST keep the club head behind them or inside while pivoting their body this way or it will result in a weak over the top swing. If you have any questions or need help with your game, stop by the pro shop and ask for Mike or Dakota.
