It s good to know which way the grain is growing. The grain, or which way the blade of grass is laying, will influence all shots that are rolling on the ground, especially putting. To find the grain, when you walk up to the green, look both ways on the green. Down grain is shiny and against the grain is darker. Down grain is much faster than against the grain. 4 LIFESTYLE MayFest a Huge Success! The residents of The Ponds in Cobblestone Park hosted a neighborhoodwide MayFest on the Green May 2. About 120 people of all ages and from all parts of the neighborhood attended; many people commenting on what a joy it was to meet new neighbors and get to know them. Everyone who attended brought a dish and drinks to share with others as well as enjoying the grilled offerings of smoked BBQ, burgers and hot dogs. There was a very friendly, good spirited atmosphere on a beautiful evening. With all the positive feedback, MayFest on the Green will become an annual resident event on the first Saturday in May. The event would not have happened without the support of some splendid neighbors including Brian VanTiem (the Chef), Jose Rey, Jon Ramler & Gilman Treantos and Fiona Smith. Summer Camps Week 3: Nature Camp July Week 4: Splish-Splash Camp July Week 5: Carnival Camp August This summer we are offering new themed camps! Each of these new camps will include arts & crafts, story time, games, life lessons and educational objectives! The cost for each camp per child including lunch daily is $199 for members and $219 for non-members. These camps will run from daily. We paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and celebrated our great country with delicious food, PartyTime DJ s playing the hits and games galore for the kids! With over 130 people in attendance it was a great day! ROUNDS FORE WARRIORS On Friday, June 5, Cobblestone Park Golf Club hosted Rounds Fore Warriors. With WIS-TV on property as well to document this event, Cobblestone Park represented the group s South Carolina round of golf and was the halfway point in their journey. Rounds Fore Warriors came together when four men three of which are veterans who have known each other for years and spending countless hours on the golf course together decided to raise money for other veterans in need. With their love of golf, they decided to play a round of golf in each state in 25 days. Their journey began on Sunday, May 24 at Ko olau Golf Course in Honolulu, Hawaii. Throughout the remaining days, they will continue to raise awareness and collect donations for this cause. Rounds Fore Warriors mission is to honor those who were and are willing to make the sacrifice to protect our freedom. They will reach their final destination in Coeur d Alene, Idaho at Coeur d Alene Resort Golf Club on Thursday, June 18. In total they will have played 900 holes, traveled 15,000 miles and touched foot in all 50 states in just 25 days! A big thank you to our very own veterans, Ron Meaut and Bob Mangone, who hit the first balls of the day as well as our members and residents who came to show support as they teed off! plus tax & gratuity
