Next Meeting Tuesday, September 13, 5:30 p.m. Bob Blades Blades International A UGUST 2011 Greetings fellow NOMADS - At our last monthly Dinner Meeting we were treated to an excellent presentation by Eric Schneider of Noble Energy entitled Noble Energy: To Israel and Beyond. In light of the current news headlines coming out of the Middle East that has been dubbed by the media as the Arab Spring, the timing of this presentation could not have been better. Noble Energy gas discoveries like the giant Tamar Field and the even larger Leviathan Field, off the coast of Israel are in line to make not only Israel energy independent but, in the future a net exporter of Natural Gas to European Markets, a real game changer in the region. I want to say kudos to the membership; we had 84 members and guests attending this meeting, by far our largest gathering since our Forecast Meeting back in February. I also want to thank everyone who took time to RSVP Wanda Baker. Many of you did and for this we are grateful. A simple RSVP is such an asset in helping to plan these events. I trust you will continue to do so. John Boals 2011 Nomads President What a privilege it was to honor four of our deserving students with a scholarship check and certificate. We enjoyed having Paige Seber, Lance Wheeler, and Kathryne Gilliard and their families join us for dinner in August. Unfortunately, Katherine Otis was on a student assignment and unable to attend. Her mom and dad, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Otis, accepted the award for her. This is always a difficult task for our anonymous committee, and we appreciate their participation. The next scheduled dinner meeting will be held at HESS on Tuesday, September 13 th. Our speaker will be Bob Blades of Blades International. The subject will be; Profiting from Trade and Project Finance. Our next special events will take us into October where we have not one but, two very special events scheduled. The first event is the NOMADS Annual Golf Tournament. Again the golf outing will be held at BlackHorse Golf Club on Friday, October 21 st. Our NOMADS Secretary and Golf Committee Chairman Mike Kucera, is once again hard at work putting together, what I am sure will be another successful NO- MADS Golf Tournament. This is our largest fund raiser of the year. Please do not miss the chance to participate in this all important event. There are a number of ways you can participate even if you are not a golfer. You can sponsor a team, or can become a Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze or Hole Sponsor. There are also other ways you can participate and to find out how simply contact Mike at mikek@exoilsup.com or any of the other committee members who s addresses can be found on the entry form posted in this issue of the Caravan.

2 C ARAVAN A UGUST 2011 The 2 nd special event in October will be a Gentleman s English High Tower Pheasant Shoot, scheduled for Sunday, October 30 th at Coastal Wild Wings in Blessing, Texas. 1 st Year Regent, Ed Carney is once again spearheading this event. This is an excellent opportunity to get your shooting skills fine tuned for the upcoming hunting season. There are still several spots left. You can find more information of this event also later in this issue of the Caravan. Behind the scenes we have been working on revamping our NOMADS website. It is my belief that a revamped website that is interactive, pleasing to the eye and takes advantage of the new social media is vital to attracting new and younger members who are by nature computer savvy. We are now linked to Facebook and have a Nomads Facebook page. You can access the NO- MADS Facebook page by going to the NOMADS website and click on the Facebook Icon at the bottom of the page. I encourage you to go there and make postings. You can post photos of recent overseas trips or events. You can make comments about our organization or our industry or post interesting outside links and articles that you think might be of interest to the membership. Visit the site and let us know your thoughts. In the meantime I look forward to seeing you all at the next NOMADS Dinner Meeting. John Boals "Gentlemen's English High Tower Pheasant Shoot - Sunday, October 30th Blessing, TX., 75 miles -1.5 hours, SW of Houston Don t delay We have a very few spots still open on the PM hunt. The birds are released from a 35 foot tower with 20 shooting stations around the tower at safe distances. You shoot from one station and then rotate to the next station before the next birds are released. You will shoot from many stations before the shoot is finished which provides many challenging opportunities. Cost is $ /person, including a meal, with a limit of twenty (20) shooters/flight. wandab123@comcast.net for payment it is limited to the first 40 shooters. NOMADS Dues/Assessments Policy (Reposted from last month) Because of the growing amount of outstanding dues from some NOMADS members, we have established the following policy: Any member who has outstanding dues/assessments greater than $500 for a period of 90 days or greater, will have his/her membership placed in suspension. Members placed in suspension will not be allowed to attend monthly meetings or participate in other NOMADS functions. Exceptions to this policy may be made for unusual circumstances.
