1 October 2015 Horse Tales The Monthly Newsletter of Poway Valley Riders Association Staci Sanders / Secretary PVRA is a special equestrian club. I have been a member for 20 years and been on the board a couples times as Secretary. Taking notes at meetings is not the only critical job of secretary but also fostering communication throughout the club. I enjoy learning new things about our great club and how we can improve and grow. This year I was involved with Marketing & Sponsorships, Open Schooling, Games Day, & the new All Breed Show. I am a Computer Engineer when I'm not riding horses so helping with the PVRA website has always been a fun hobby! Veronika Graydon My name is Veronika Graydon - I am a current PVRA Board Member and the mother of two wonderful kids, Maddie and Jimmy, and horse-mom to two wonderful horses, Joey and Chester. I have truly enjoyed my role as Membership Chair these last two years, getting to meet so many members and be involved with different aspects of PVRA. I am eager to commit my time and energy again to this club that has become a second home for my family. Daniel Blom Daniel Blom, proud parent of a Pony Clubber, standing for election to the PVRA Board. We all have an interest in the continuing success and enjoyment of PVRA and the inclusion and expanded participation for all. I hope to collaboratively work with all the different communities within our Association to improve our facilities, manage our events and expand our membership." Thanks for your consideration. Amanda Bard My name is Amanda Bard and I m running for a position on the board. A little about my horse history I have been a PVRA member for 18 years and have been riding all my life. I have participated in virtually every discipline at PVRA but would consider myself a jumper, although I m not much of a competitor. I ve also done dressage, three-day eventing, gymkhana, drill team, flags, and I even ran for Rodeo Queen. I have training on both the water truck and the tractor so I have other skills as well. You could say I ve spent time on the grounds as a rider, arena maintenance, and as a volunteer. More recently, I ve been the creator, organizer, and driving force behind the new and highly successful Games Day show. Since I have experience in almost every activity at PVRA, I value every discipline. I m running for a board position because I want to see PVRA succeed as a facility and I want to be a part of that. Thank you for your consideration. Gillian Young Hello! My name is Gillian Young and I've been a PVRA member for about 3 years. I moved to San Diego in 2010 from the East Coast and have been riding horses for almost 30 years. I enjoyed mostly English equitation and jumping in my youth, but now I'm a polo player and passionate all-around horsewoman, giving beginner polo and riding lessons and running my business, "Polo Horse Management and Exercise", at the stock farm. I would bring a fresh face, unique outside perspective to the board, and continue to promote PVRA as the best kept secret in the San Diego horse community! I would be honored to have your vote for a one-year board member position.
