1 November 2014 Horse Tales The Monthly Newsletter of Poway Valley Riders Association Prez Sez Last week, PVRA welcomed all of our new board members at the annual installation dinner. Please join me in welcoming Connie, Parker, Louann, and Mike as our new board members. As I step into the role of president, I look forward to working with the 2014/15 PVRA board and every PVRA member! A couple of days ago I had the privilege of attending a dinner with 700 men and women of the US Marines 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. As the Lieutenant Colonel addressed the Marines and recalled all of their hard work, one of his statements reminded me of the work done at PVRA: As we continue to learn the lessons from the Marines that come before us, attack this year s challenges with the same courage, commitment, loyalty, self-sacrifice and adaptability as their predecessors for that reason we can look back with pride in our accomplishments and confident in our ability to meet future challenges. Last year was my first year as a board member, which presented me with a behindthe-scenes look at all of the volunteer work needed to operate PVRA. As I accept the role as President this year, I am honored and thankful to those that have come before me. I am ready to attack this year s challenges with the same self-sacrifice as my predecessors and confident in our ability to meet future challenges. l look forward to hearing your ideas and working with all of you as we implement those ideas. Thank you for your trust in my ability to be President I am ready to get to work. John South In This Issue New Officers and Board Members Elections were held at the October General Meeting. This is a great work hours opportunity for someone who liked being on the high school newspaper staff. Unless you want to use a typewriter and a glue stick, it requires computer skills, writing skills, an internet connection, and a calendar. I use Adobe InDesign to put it together, but any layout program would work. Apple Pages or Microsoft Word could do it, too. If needed, I am willing to mentor and teach, with the expectation that the new editor would be ready to solo after a couple of issues. If you are interested, give me a call at (evenings) or me at: annlaux@mac.com.
