Alderson at Reeth Garage or Claire Brown Tel No: REETH SHOW LTD HEALTH AND SAFETY STATEMENT 1 Reeth Show Ltd will ensure as far as is reasonably practicable the safety and absence of risks to health at work of all the Society s employees. 2. The Society also undertakes its activities in such a way as to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that persons (not in the Society s employment) namely, officials, stewards, exhibitors, traders and members of the public are not thereby exposed to risks to their safety or health. 3. The Society will bring to the notice of contractors exhibitors and caterers and other participants in events organised by the Society, their duties under the relevant health and safety legislation in respect of the safety and health of their own employees and members of the public who may be affected by their activities. 4. During the Reeth Show each steward has a responsibility whilst on duty to take such measures as is deemed reasonable to take, to ensure the safety of all persons on the showground. Specialist stewards i.e., Horse, Cattle, Sheep, etc have special additional responsibilities within their own sections to apply their specialist knowledge to minimise risks to safety. All stewards have the authority to intervene or stop any event, movement of stock or vehicles, demonstration or display which they consider unsafe. Good safety is basically straightforward. It requires awareness, common sense and application. If you see something which is unsafe or somebody doing something which could lead to an accident then TAKE ACTION. 7 GENERAL RULES 1. That the Company be called Reeth Show Ltd. The object of this Company shall be the improvement of Agriculture generally. 2. That this Company shall consist of a President, Vice Presidents, Committee, Treasurer, Secretary and Members. The President, Vice Presidents, Committee, Treasurer and Secretary to be elected annually at the General Meeting. 3. The Committee shall consist of not less than 15 members, who shall have the entire management of the Society, subject to the existing Rules. 4. The President and Vice Presidents shall be ex- officio members of the Committee. 5. Annual Subscriptions shall become due and payable on the first day of August in each year. Subscriptions remaining unpaid on the first day of September shall be considered in arrears. 6. The Committee shall compile the Annual Prize List, and are empowered to make Rules and Bye -Laws necessary for the Annual Show. 7. The financial year shall be from 1st January to 31st December. GENERAL SHOW YARD REGULATIONS 1. Live Stock entered in Classes where prizes are offered will only be admitted to the Show Ground on production and surrender of any current Ministry of Agriculture Regulations. 2. All animals and everything exhibited in competition for the prizes offered must be bonafide property of the Exhibitor for Three Calendar Months prior to the day of the Show. All animals shown in the Open Classes must be the bona- fide property of the Exhibitor. 3. When any condition is attached to the winning of any premium, the prize will not be paid until such condition has been fulfilled, and Certificates produced to the Secretary. If an exhibitor acts in any manner with intention to defraud the Society by securing unfairly any prize offered, the Committee may debar such person from competing again for three years. 4. Any Exhibitor bringing an animal into the Show Yard affected with any contagious disease shall, on proof thereof, forfeit 10 to the Secretary for the use of the Society, and any Exhibitor removing stock before the close of the Show without the consent of the Secretary, or giving a false or incorrect Certificate, shall forfeit every unpaid prize and entrance money, and be debarred from showing at the Society s Shows for three years. 5. The Show Yard Stewards must withdraw from the ring when any of their stock is before the Judges. 6. If not more than two entries the award of First Prize will be left to the Judges discretion. 7. Should any prize be forfeited through a protest against the exhibit to which it was awarded, such prizes will, in all cases, be paid to the next in merit duly qualified, if distinguished by the Judges. 8. All objections must be made by way of a written objection on the Show Day to the Secretary, and a deposit of 25 paid. Should the objection be ruled by the Committee to be frivolous, the 25 shall be forfeited to the funds of the Show, but if sustained it shall be returned to the objector. 9. The exhibits will only be admitted between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and a.m. and no animal will be allowed to leave the ground before 4 p.m. except by permission of the Secretary. 8 10. The minimum subscription for Members shall be 8 which entitles them to one free admission ticket to the Show. 11. All animals brought into the Show Ground for exhibition must have the Judges number attached before they can be exhibited. These numbers will be given out at the Secretary s tent on the morning of the Show, and corresponding numbers will be attached to each stall or pen of animals, and on no account will any person be allowed to remove any animals from the stalls or pens assigned to them, except when taken before the Judges. 12. The Company will appoint a Veterinary surgeon, one of whose duties will be to see that the conditions attached to the exhibits in each class have been complied with, and that he shall have the power to disqualify any animal not complying with such conditions. Such disqualification shall be final, unless any exhibitor feeling aggrieved shall bring the case before a Committee under Rule All matters upon which a question of dispute shall arise not provided for in the Rules of the Company, or in the conditions attached to any prize, shall be referred to the Committee whose decision shall be final and binding upon all parties interested, and not subject to any Court of Law. 14. Should any dispute arise with any exhibit, such exhibit will be totally in the hands of the Stewards of the Ring, and any horses which go up to the Stewards of the Ring to be measured must be given up to the Horse Measurers. 15. The Society will not be responsible for any damage or theft that may occur through or to any animal or exhibit at the Show, and it shall be considered a condition of entry that the exhibitors shall hold the Society harmless and they shall be considered to indemnify the Society from any legal proceeding arising from any accident or theft. 16. All Stock & Produce shown in the District Classes must have been depastured in the district, which comprises the whole of Reeth Union and the adjoining parishes of New Forest, Marske, Downholme, Walburn and Stainton, Scargill, Barningham, Newsham, Dalton, Gayles, Kirby Hill, Whashton, Ravensworth, Skeeby, Gilling, Hudswell, Brompton, Richmond, Tunstall, Hunton, and the north side of the river from Middleham Bridge to Askrigg, for 3 months prior to the Show. 17. All Ribbons or Cards awarded must be worn during the Show, or the Prize Money will be withheld. This Rule will be strictly enforced. 18. The Committee reserve to themselves the right to remove any objectionable or noisy exhibitor, stallholder or hawker, and of altering any judging arrangements they may deem necessary. 19. No person will be allowed to show any animal in more than one class, except in Open and Special Classes, unless otherwise stated. 20. Admission to the Show Field and all attractions: 8 each; Children under 14 years of age 2. (including tax). 21. No covers allowed over Sheep Pens. 22. Trade Stand Trophy to be held for one year.
