Tuesday 25 July 2017 Brisbane s Eagle Farm-based Tony Gollan is set to claim another Brisbane metropolitan premiership and is on the cusp of another successful season, with a string of promising horses destined for the Brisbane summer carnival. Gollan, however, does plan to have a presence during the Melbourne spring carnival and is excited about the prospects of his new season two-year-olds. Most Important (4 g I Am Invincible Orange Marmalade by Stravinsky) Most Important TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY He had a good summer campaign and I had him back in for the winter, but he hates really soft ground and I had a really small issue with him when I was getting ready. I was running out of time to have him ready and he also had a really long preparation last time in, something like 14 runs, and won a lot of prize money. I had a small window to have him ready, so with the wet weather and the way Eagle Farm was, we brought him back and is in work now and he is absolutely flying. He will trial next week or the week after and I am keen to take him to Melbourne for the spring. I will target some of those Listed and Group Three races over six and seven furlongs where he can get down in the weights a bit. leading trainer Tony Gollan Tiyatrolani (3 f Captain Sonador Tiyatro by Encosta De Lago) Tiyatrolani TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY She is a nice filly who came back and raced really well at the Winter Carnival. She was possibly a bit disappointing on the wet ground, 13
Tuesday 25 July 2017 but she is far better on top of the ground. She got a stakes win, though, which is good and she comes back into pre-training (today). She will prep up for some of the fillies and mares races up to 1200 metres. I know jockey Jim Byrne is really keen to get her up to metres, so we will see what we do there. She will follow the mares series in Brisbane at the end of the spring and into the summer. Brisbane summer carnival, but I will have to speak to the managing owner Darren Dance from Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock about them. Over 1200 metres there is the Gold Edition and there is another race for both sexes over 1200 metres and then they start stepping out over the metres getting ready for the Magic Millions 3Y0 Guineas and that is too far for her. I think we will get her back in and prep her up for the sprint races. family. If he continues to improve there could be a nice race in him going forward. Don t You Know Him (2 c I Am Invincible Greta s Yarn by Redoute s Choice) He only had one start in the Ken Russell and pulled up sore, but I think he is a very good horse. I wouldn t have run him in Listed grade first up if I didn t think he was good. We will see nice things with that horse in time. She s Our Star (2 f Star Witness Sheeznodoubt by Not A Single Doubt) She is a good filly who runs next Saturday in a 1050 metre race, but I am not sure what I am going to do with her after that. The logical option is probably the three-year-old races during the She's Our Star Capital Connection (3 c Denman Solar Verde by Oasis Dream) He rates fairly highly, but I am not one to get carried away and he is still learning his trade. He is a rising four-years-old, so it does get a lot harder from here on in. He is a horse with good ability and he is from a good female TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY Don t Doubt Da Wife (3 f Snitzel Graphic by Rubiton) Don t Doubt Da Wife is pretty smart. She ran second to Niccanova at Doomben before the carnival in Brisbane and she will come back a nice mare next preparation. Overview We have a lot of two-year-olds who are rising three who have only had one start or none and we have got all the yearlings in here at the stables at the moment. They are going really well. We have gone through a lot of redevelopments at Eagle Farm and we haven t been able to bring them down to Eagle Farm in the past because of that, but this year we have been able to educate them here. They also go to the farm at Toowoomba and have gone in and out a couple of times. We have breezed them and they are going quite well, so we expected to have a few new season two-year-olds in the early trials and the early races. in tomorrow's issue Stable with David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig 14
Wednesday 26 July 2017 David "We have a bunch of up and coming stars, so it is exciting. With our yearlings we haven t done a lot with them yet and I will have a better idea of where they are at in a month or so. We are happy with the ones we bought this year. Next season might not be as good as this year, but if we get a few nice two-year-olds we will be happy." Two-Year-Olds Catchy (2 f Fastnet Rock - Cats Whisker by Fusaichi Pegasus) She has come back and will trial at Flemington on Friday. She will be aimed Catchy towards the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield. She is a miler and I will concentrate on Melbourne with her because she ran such a bad race in Sydney in the Slipper. Tulip (2 f Pierro - Musidora by Rock Of Gibraltar) She is going to be aimed at the Flight Stakes in Sydney. I think the Pierros will be better at three and with Tulip s shape, it indicates she will improve. Formality (2 f Fastnet Rock - Jolie s Shinju by Jolie s Halo) She will keep training on and getting better as she gets older. She will be trialling at Flemington on Friday. and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig Muraahib (2 c Reset - Sultah by Exceed And Excel) I will be looking to run him over a mile in the spring in the Caulfield Guineas and the lead up races to the Guineas. He might stretch out over further, but you never know this early with the Derby. Will s Bid (2 c Fastnet Rock - Gold Anthem by Made Of Gold) He lost his way a bit last prep and he will be back for later in the spring. He is still a colt, but he might need gelding the way he raced last prep. He is such a well-bred horse that we are hoping he can return to form this preparation. Earth Angel (2 f Animal Kingdom - Miss Finland by Redoute s Choice) She is still in NSW at Arrowfield in early 13
Wednesday 26 July 2017 training, but she is our Oaks filly. She will probably go through the Thousand Guineas and the Wakeful. She is at least a miler, for sure. She was a bit behind the others physically and she has done very well at Arrowfield judging by the photos I have seen. I can t wait for her to get back into the stable. Madeenaty (2 f Exceed And Excel - Set For Fame by Reset) She will be trialling next week and she is a speed filly who has shown sustained speed in her races. We will keep her at sprinting trips in the spring. Sanadaat (2 f Not A Single Doubt - It s Fun by Real Quiet) She is a talented filly who will be running in the early spring. She is a sprinter-miler at this stage. Three-Year-Olds Derryn (3 c Hinchinbrook - Munhro by Lonhro) Derryn We are going to train him purely as a sprinter and we might look at the Moir Stakes with him first up. He could one for The Everest if someone wanted to (support him with a slot) if he is racing well. He races well at Randwick, so hopefully he can put his hand up. Fuhryk (3 f Star Witness - Fuhrnatic by Langfuhr) She might kick off in the McEwen Stakes and she is a good Group Two filly. The $5 odds in her Wodonga maiden paid for a few bills. Harlow Gold (3 f Tavistock - Belongs In Lights by Belong To Me) She is thriving and will head towards the Caulfield Cup. She will kick off in the last week of August. She was brought a bit unstuck by the tearaway leader in some of her races (Lasqueti Spirit) and at a good even tempo she should have a good campaign. Hear The Chant (3 f Nicconi - Quietzer by More Than Ready) She is a Group sprinter who will be aimed at the mares races. She is already a Group Two winner. Highland Beat (3 c Exceed And Excel - Highland Daughter by Kyllachy) He will keep on going into the early spring, but he probably has to keep improving to be a factor in the better races. Seaburge (3 c Sebring - Polska by Encosta De Lago) I think he is in a very good prep and he might be one of our sleepers for the spring. He ran second in a Mackinnon Stakes and second in a Guineas, beaten a head and a head, so he will be heading towards the weight for age races. He will get up to 2000 metres. Older Horses Faatinah (4 g Nicconi - Alqwah by Danehill) He will be aimed at the late spring. He will probably kick off Caulfield Cup day and head towards Flemington as he is a good straight track horse. He s Our Rokkii (4 g Roc De Cambes - Clerihew by Lomitas) He's Our Rokkii He is heading towards the Memsie Stakes first up and after that he will be on a Toorak path to defend the title or he could go on a weight for age path, but we will wait and see how he is going first. 14 Miss Gunpowder (4 m Pendragon - Forever Rafter by Delineator) She will be prepped up and be ready to race in September. I don t think she will be going to stud this season and they intend to race her on. Vega Magic (4 g Lope De Vega - Admirable by Magic Albert) He is pretty good and is also being aimed at The Everest. He is shaping up well. He is a lot stronger this time in and he might head towards the Regal Roller first up. Redkirk Warrior (5 g Notnowcato - Flag by Selkirk) He is being set for The Everest. He is just building up at the moment and we don t need to rush with him before The Everest. Sheidel (5 m Holy Roman Emperor - Laventour by Metal Storm) Sheidel She will be resuming in the first week of September and if she races well then she will keep on racing, but if she doesn t she ll go to stud. She seems pretty good this time in. After she won the Oakleigh Plate she went over the top a bit, but that was because she had raced all spring and also went to Perth and came to the end of it. Dibayani (6 g Shamardal - Dibiya by Caerleon) The old boy will turn up in Sydney and run wherever Winx isn t. He doesn t go the Victorian way (left handed), so we will stick in Sydney. He Or She (6 h Kendel Star - Danessa by West Point) He usually picks up a black type race every prep so we are looking at the edge of the pack with him. He could be more of a handicap and a Toorak Handicap horse.
Thursday 27 July 2017 Gai With the addition of co-trainer Adrian Bott 12 months ago, Gai Waterhouse has experienced another successful season highlighted by dual Group One winner Global Glamour and talented mare English. Those two, along with a string of promising two-year-olds, appear set to spearhead the training partnership s hopes in the spring. Two-Year-Olds Debonairly (2 f Snitzel - Crystal Choir by Singspiel) She had a break after Scone and is back in work now, but she is still a few weeks away from getting back to the trials. We are looking at setting her for the Sydney fillies series and she could potentially be a Flight Stakes horse for us. Gold Standard (2 c Sebring - Coniston Gem by Greig) He made a good debut at Warwick Farm the other day when he ran second to a very smart horse of Bjorn Baker s and I think it will turn out to be a strong form race. You will see him early in the three-year-old season in a maiden and then hopefully he can look to set our sights on some better quality races for him. He has plenty of upside and one to follow through the season. Invincible Star (2 f I Am Invincible - Romany Flyer by Catbird) She had a good break and is back in work now, but we probably won t see her until Melbourne and will be kept to sprinting trips. She will probably run in some of the fillies races. She has come back well and is a much stronger filly this time in. Sheikha (2 f Sebring - Solar Charged by Charge Forward) She has just returned to work. We have Waterhouse and Adrian Bott been very patient with her, just to allow her to strengthen up physically. We will probably see her down in Melbourne later in the carnival. Hualalai (2 c Street Cry - Aloha by Encosta De Lago) Hualalai He had just a quick freshen up after his last start and he will be prepared towards the Caulfield Guineas. He will kick off his campaign down in Melbourne and have his lead up runs down there. 19
S T A B L E T O U R S W I T H G A I & A D A M Thursday 27 July 2017 Siege Of Quebec (2 c Fastnet Rock - Rose Of Cimmaron by Bite The Bullet) Siege Of Quebec He will head towards the Golden Rose. He has remained in work since his last win, but we have just freshened him up in the stable. He is ticking over beautifully and we are delighted with what we have seen from him to date. He has improved on each occasion and there is certainly a lot more upside to this horse. He will have a couple of lead up runs in better quality races in the lead up to the Golden Rose and he will probably have a trial before he goes back to the races. He is a happy horse who is enjoying his work at the moment. Speed Street (2 c Al Maher - Street Princess by Keltrice) He did everything as a two-year-old on natural ability and he has really improved this time around. He is a nice colt in the making. He is nominated for the Golden Rose at this point in time and he will step out at the trials next week and then look at a path towards the Golden Rose. I think he is a really nice miler, so providing everything is going to plan, the Caulfield Guineas could work out well for him. Three-Year-Olds Global Glamour (3 f Star Witness - Spectacula by Testa Rossa) She has come back brilliantly and is probably a couple of weeks away from a trial. She will be aimed at The Everest this year. She has come back a much bigger and stronger filly. Last preparation she was trained to get over the mile and then she dropped back in trip late in her preparation, so we certainly haven t seen the best of her sprinting capabilities. She will have a couple of lead-up races in preparation for The Everest and can put her best foot forward. Prompt Response (3 f Beneteau - Prompt by Exceed And Excel) She did a fantastic job up in Queensland and continues to go from strength to strength. It was a brilliant win in the Dane Ripper and was a bit unlucky in the Tatt s Tiara and she had a short break after that up in Queensland. She is back in the stable now and she will be prepared down in Melbourne and be targeted at the Myer Classic. Ugo Foscolo (3 g Zacinto - Bequests by Stravinsky) Ugo Foscolo He didn t handle the heavy track at his only start for us in the autumn. We had a terribly wet season and we had to pull up stumps and turn him out after a really disappointing performance. His two failed runs in his whole career have come on bottomless tracks, so we gave him plenty of time and he will trial next week and be prepared towards the Epsom before a Melbourne campaign for races like the Cox Plate or the Mackinnon Stakes. He is a very nice horse and I would be very forgiving of what you saw of him in the autumn. Older Horses Ecuador (7 g High Chaparral - Bak Da Princess by Danske) He trialled on Monday at Randwick and he will have another trial, then he ll be targeted towards the Epsom and then head down to Melbourne. There is still plenty of life left in him and, it is hard to believe, but he has come back even better this time around as well. Global Glamour 20 English (4 m Encosta De Lago - Court by Anabaa) She comes to hand very quickly, so she will probably be on a similar path to Global
S T A B L E T O U R S W I T H G A I & A D A M Thursday 27 July 2017 Glamour. They could race in the same lead up races, but the pressure is off her in a sense because she already has a slot for The Everest and her whole campaign will be shaped around having her peak third up on that day. Fabrizio (5 g High Chaparral - Desina by Desert King) He is just about to return to the stable after a good layoff. We are looking forward to his return and we might see him step out late in the carnival. Sort After (4 m Wanted - Patronyme by More Than Ready) She had a break after the Ipswich Cup. She didn t handle the conditions up there on a rain-affected track and she spelled up in Queensland and has come back to the stable now. It is still only early days with her, but you probably won t see her until late in the carnival down in Melbourne. She ran second in the Matriarch Stakes last year and that is probably a race we will look to target her in. Stampede (4 h High Chaparral - Nothin Leica Cat by Tale Of The Cat) He had a short break after campaign. He did a tremendous job up there and he is still Fabrizio on the improve and a lovely staying horse in the making. Hopefully he is a cups horse for us in the spring. He is probably a few weeks away from the trials and we haven t confirmed his program yet, but you see him at some point in the feature staying races. We are thinking the Caulfield Cup would be great or maybe The Metropolitan in Sydney first. We are in no rush with him, so we will just see how he comes up as we are mindful he had a tough preparation last time in. Supply And Demand (4 g Sebring - Demanding by Octagonal) At the moment we are thinking the Epsom is a target for him. He is being freshened up and has remained in work since his Grafton Cup win. We have a couple of lead up races in mind for him, but he will be dropping back in trip. The Epsom is a strong mile race at Randwick, so you probably need a tough 2000 metre horse and that is exactly what he is. in tomorrow's issue Stable Bjorn Baker 21
Friday 28 July 2017 Bjorn Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker has been dealt a blow, with his Group One winner Music Magnate ruled out of the spring, but the New Zealander still has a select team of talented horses aimed at the spring carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne as well as the lucrative Magic Millions carnival on the Gold Coast in January. Two-Year-Olds Addictive Nature (2 c Savabeel - Generous Nature by Carnegie) He will go to a Benchmark 70 Handicap race over 1200 metres on 5 August at Randwick and then, depending on how he goes there, into the Ming Dynasty on the 26 August at Rosehill. He is a fast horse, so we hope to get to the Ming Dynasty and see what we do with him from there. Songlike (2 f Your Song - Mabkhara by Anabaa) She is just going to go for a maiden at Warwick Farm on 2 August and if she won there, then we may consider a race like the Silver Shadow Stakes for her. Baker Three-Year-Olds Impavido (3 g High Chaparral - Assertion by Zabeel) He has just come back into the stable and he is a Magic Millions-qualified horse, so that is his long-term aim at this stage. Champagne Cuddles (2 f Not A Single Doubt - Sky Cuddle by Snippets) She is going really well and will trial next week before possibly heading to the Silver Shadow, a Group Two race on 19 August. Songlike Impavido 21
S T A B L E T O U R S W I T H G A I & A D A M Older Horses Bonny O Reilly (4 m O Reilly - Pretty by Pins) Friday 28 July 2017 Bonny O'Reilly She will trial next week and we will see how she goes, then make up our mind from there with her. We will concentrate on Sydney with her, at least initially. Egyptian Symbol (4 m Stratum - Our Egyptian Raine by Desert Sun) She is back in the stable and we are looking at possibly looking at running at the Flemington carnival in a stakes race. She is also a Magic Millions-qualified mare, so we may look at the sprint race with her in January instead of the fillies and mares race. Imposing Lass Imposing Lass (4 m Makfi - Imposingly by Zabeel) She jumped out last Friday and I was really happy with the way she went. She will barrier trial next week to see how she goes in that trial. There are plenty of races for her in the spring, so we will take it one step at a time. Music Magnate (5 g Written Tycoon - Concert Girl by Danehill Dancer) He is out at the moment as he has had a fetlock chip removed, so he won t be seen until new year. now available online Stable Yearlings We have some nice young horses, but it is still too early to say what is going to come out of the woodwork. We will have a much better idea in the next few weeks. The Dundeel-Miss Finland colt has been in the stable and he is a nice horse, but he is not going to be a really early type. We will just see how he does next time through. This week's Stable are available online click here 22
