Waller weekly news 23 november 2017 With nine winners over the past week the team had plenty to celebate. Canterbury proved to be a happy hunting ground for our horses and their connections with a quintet of winners there on Friday night backed up with a further two there yesterday. The Pemberton Family s Best Guess was our sole winner at Rosehill on Saturday and put in a dominant performance over the 1200m. The Star Thoroughbreds colours and their owners have had a stellar week with three winners including a quinella at Canterbury yesterday courtesy of Seaway and Balearic while on Friday night Noire and Cellarman sparkled under the lights in the purple and white. This weekend we have runners across Australia from Brisbane, Sydney and Perth to Ballarat where Antonio Giuseppe heads the Ballarat Cup field trying to emulate the stable s 2015 winner Junoob. In Perth All Our Roads and Tom Melbourne will represent the stable where we ve had success in the past from limited attempts with Moriarty and Good Project winners there at Group One level. We wish all of our connections the best of luck and a safe weekend! INSIDE THIS ISSUE WINNERs News & photos admin@cwallerracing.com Best Guess.

l CHRIS WALLER RACING - WINNERS THIS WEEK best guess 4yo G Snippetson x Miss Judge by Al Maher This talented son of Snippetson is building an enviable record and he scored his fourth win from just nine starts when winning at Rosehill on Saturday over 1200m. Blake Shinn took the mount and he kept it simple, settling him close to the pace throughout before taking over approaching the final furlong for a bloodless victory. On this evidence more wins will be in store for this talented galloper in the future. my giuliano 5yo G Choisir - Calm by Montjeu This son of Choisir has thrived in his new environment since heading north to join the Gold Coast stable and he made it back to back city wins when scoring at Doomben on Saturday over 2200m. Michael Cahill took the mount and he bided his time over this staying trip on what was a Heavy 10 track. My Guiliano came with a strong run in the home straight for a cosy success. With his confidence sky high at present My Giuliano will be hard to beat in the coming weeks as he looks for three wins in a row. jaunty 4yo M O Reilly - Joy by Pins Having filled the runner up position on three previous occasions this well-bred daughter of the late great sire O Reilly gained an all-important maiden win at Canterbury on Friday night over 1550m for owners Qatar Racing and Richard Pegum. Glyn Schofield took the mount and he had a relatively straightforward ride as he settled just worse than midfield early on in the six runner field as stable mate Skifield cut out the early running. As they straightened for home Skifield still had a decent advantage but once Schofield asked for the maximum effort Jaunty stayed on strongly for an easy success at the finish. Thanks to Bradley Photographers, Ross Stevenson and darryl sherer for our weekly photos.

l higher ground 3yo C So You Think - Dark Vision by Encosta de Lago The stable has done well with the progeny of So You Think and the Kepitis family s Higher Ground was another winner for the team by the 10 time Group One winning champion as he scored an impressive maiden win at Canterbury on Friday night over 1550m as part of the stable five-timer. Blinkers were fitted for the first time and this helped this talented colt concentrate on the job at hand as he stretched away in the home straight under Glyn Schofield for an easy success having travelled strongly throughout. noire 4yo M Foxwedge - Valadon by Woodman Star Thoroughbreds enjoyed another good week on the track and this talented daughter of Foxwedge was another one to carry their purple silks to victory when returning from a spell to score at Canterbury on Friday over 1100m. With the mare being allotted 61kg, talented apprentice Lee Magorrian was given the mount utilising his 3kg claim and he produced a gun ride, settling at the tail of the field early on before angling towards the outside in the straight. Noire subsequently let down very strongly for a highly impressive win. tumultuous 4yo G Fastnet Rock - Boisterous Lady by Rivotious This gelded son of Fastnet Rock has always shown plenty of ability and returned to the winner s circle at Canterbury on Friday night over 1900m. Tye Angland was in the saddle and he settled him towards the tail of the field early on before coming with a sustained challenge in the straight for what was a cosy success at the finish. This win will no doubt give Tumultuous plenty of confidence and he can hopefully build on this in the coming weeks. video preview Click on the image to the left to watch this week s video update with plenty of valuable insights into our runners this weekend from Charlie and Sophie.

cellarman 4yo G Mossman - Vintage Blend by Cape Cross Cellarman was another stable runner to make it consecutive wins when scoring at Canterbury on Friday night over 1550m under Blake Shinn. Shinn allowed the son of Mossman to travel in midfield early on before bringing him with a sustained run in the straight and he cut a fine figure crossing the line first in the Star Thoroughbred silks. baysa 4yo M Mastercraftsman - Cape City by Kaapstad This talented daughter of Mastercraftsman hasn t always had the best of luck in her races but it all came together at Canterbury on Wednesday when she scored a smart win over 1550m. Blake Shinn was on board and with Baysa coming back in distance from a run at 2000m the previous week, Shinn allowed her plenty of time to find her feet towards the rear of the field. As they turned into the straight Shinn made his move towards the outside of the leaders and Baysa let down strongly for an impressive success. seaway 3yo C Ocean Park - Miss Purrfection by One Cool Cat Waikato Stud s young Cox Plate winning sire Ocean Park is beginning to hit his straps now that his progeny are three year olds and this talented colt built on his debut second placing when winning at Canterbury on Wednesday over 1250m. Blake Shinn was in the saddle and he had him close up throughout in the small field before giving him the office in the straight and he knuckled down well for a narrow success. Stable mate Scream Park also by Ocean Park ran with plenty of promise to be narrowly beaten in third place while in second was fellow Star galloper Balearic to complete the Waller trifecta. 5 Waller targets Ascot riches All Our Roads and Life Less Ordinary will join Tom Melbourne in Chris Waller s strong assault on the TABtouch Masters at Ascot. Top Melbourne jockey Craig Williams, who won the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) for Waller two years ago on Good Project, has been booked to ride All Our Roads in the same race a week tomorrow. Tom Melbourne will also tackle the Railway and Waller s racing manager Liam Prior said Life Less Ordinary was a chance of starting in the $1 million race. Life Less Ordinary might go straight to the Kingston Town, Prior said. We thought he might be a Melbourne Cup horse, but his form tapered off so we freshened him up and he ran well over 1800 on cup day. Tom Melbourne probably deserves to win a Group 1 and going to Perth gives him a good chance. All Our Roads was set for the Kennedy Mile at Flemington, but he led and took charge a bit. He ll go to Perth on an upward spiral and should run well. Our two Railway horses are hard to split. All Our Roads won six of 20 starts in New Zealand before joining Waller s stable. After starting his career in England, Life Less Ordinary has recorded a win at Caulfield and five placings for Waller. His main aim is the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) on December 9. Waller won the race with Moriarty in Damien Oliver will ride Tom Melbourne, who has run five seconds for Waller this spring. Oliver will also ride Fuhryk in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) on December 2. Damian Lane will ride Impending, who is the $3.70 Winterbottom favourite with the TAB. Classy mare Crystal Fountain will join Winterbottom contender Santa Ana Lane in trainer Anthony Freedman s Ascot carnival assault. A winner at four of six starts, Crystal Fountain will tackle the Listed Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) on Saturday week and Listed Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m) on December 9.- Jay Rooney, The Western Australian

Best Guess proves a certainty Best Guess maintained his impressive preparation for Sydney's premier trainer Chris Waller by cruising to a commanding victory at Rosehill. The four-year-old gelding stepped up to 1200-metres with ease in the Jaydub Electrical Handicap, winning by 2-1/4 lengths. Best Guess, the $2.30 favourite, is yet to finish worse than third since returning from a spell. "I think the distance suited and I think he will get a bit further," said Waller's racing manager Charlie Duckworth. "I was a little bit concerned the track might have been a little bit too firm for him but obviously he has done the job very easily." Star Reflection ($7.50) led the chasers while Pipeline ($6.50) was a half-head third. "He' s a very fast horse but he's also an absolute gentleman," Duckworth said. "A lot of sprinters can be wound up but he has a beautiful temperament and does exactly what is asked of him." Shinn was impressed after riding Best Guess for the first time. "He had tactical speed drawing one and I put him straight there. He led, dominated the race and was too good."- AAP My Giuliano proves he handles wet tracks Tough stayer My Giuliano dismissed any doubts about his ability at 2200m on a really heavy track when he won at Doomben on Saturday. My Giuliano had run a course record when winning at Doomben over 2040m two weeks ago but had never won at 2200m. After drifting to $5 in the betting My Giuliano beat Outraged ($8) by 3/4 length in the Evian hcp (2200m). Doomben was soaked by more than 25mm of rain in just over an hour on Saturday morning and his stable mate The Rumour File was scratched when the track was downgraded to heavy. My Giuliano was one of six stayers sent to Chris Waller s Gold Coast stables to concentrate on Queensland staying races. Waller s Queensland stable foreman Paul Shailer said the rain had put a real dampener on the stable s hopes for My Giuliano. He has won on wet tracks but I don t think he is as adept on heavy tracks. But he is a fit horse and in form so he has won today, Shailer said. We will have to have a look around for more staying races for him before the handicapper gets him. Winning jockey Michael Cahill said My Giuliano had travelled well throughout and had the field covered at the 200m. He is fit and that told when they run seven seconds (2.21.6) outside the class record, Cahill said.- AAP Racing

Fourth Cox Plate tantalising for Winx The team behind champion racehorse Winx is open to the mare going for a record fourth Cox Plate, but also concerned how racing overseas could affect her preparation. Part-owner Peter Tighe says running in the Cox Plate in October depends on whether or not Winx races overseas at Royal Ascot in June - a decision which is yet to be made. It s all to do with the timing, Tighe told Sky Sports Radio on Tuesday. If we re going overseas and then coming back, and if it s all possible to play it out and do that without stretching her too thin. Tighe said a decision to take the mare overseas or not was imminent, but that it was up to Winx s trainer Chris Waller to make a good, well-timed, judged decision. It s a huge temptation to take the world on. We know she s good enough and she d certainly be competitive wherever she goes but we re still keen to race in Australia, Tighe said. The remarkable mare is in the spelling paddock, having won a record-equalling third Cox Plate last month and becoming the first horse in Australian racing history to amass more than $15 million prize money.
