2 WELCOME TO THE 201 SUMMER SHOW SCHEDULE Whether you are exhibiting your results from the Allotment, Garden, Kitchen or Leisure activities, we wish you every success. The winners and runners-up win cash prizes and for some es trophies are awarded for a year. Our Show Schedule has been revised again this year to provide new challenges and interesting classes for show entrants. We hope you ll join in the fun by exhibiting in the Show. Complete the entry form incorporated in this Schedule and return it, with the appropriate entry fees, to any of the locations listed below by 6.00pm on Wednesday 14 th August. It would be appreciated if Entrants could submit their Entry Forms as soon as possible and not delay submission until the deadline. The deadline for the receipt of Entry Forms from Rainbow, Beaver, Brownie and Cub groups for entries in Section L is: 8.00pm on Friday 26 th July. Entry Forms for entries in Section L may be obtained from the WAHGA website () or from the Show Secretary. Late entries (for any Section) may be accepted after the above times at the Show Secretary s discretion, but double fees will be charged. No entries will be accepted on Show day. An envelope containing completed Entry Form(s) and associated fees may be delivered to: * Trading Sheds at Gardeners Hall or Maidenhead Road during usual opening hours. or * Pamela Bailey, Show Secretary, 52 Queens Road, Windsor SL4 BH. Entry Forms may also be posted to the Show Secretary at the above address. Please make cheques payable to WAHGA Ltd. (Please do not send cash via the post.) Stage your exhibit between 7.00pm and 9.00pm on Friday 16 th or Saturday 17 th August between 8.0am and 11.10am. Judging will commence promptly at 11.15am. All exhibits to be accompanied on the Show benches with Cards made out and supplied by the Show Secretary. Cards to be placed face downwards adjacent to the exhibit. NOTE If you do not want your entry to be auctioned at the conclusion of the Show please ensure that you strike out the for auction stamp on the card. See page for full rules. 4 HORTICULTURAL SHOW GENERAL RULES & CONDITIONS 1. Entry Forms and fees may be delivered to any of the locations listed on the inside cover of this Schedule or posted to the Show Secretary at 52 Queens Road, Windsor SL4 BH. Cheques should be made payable to WAHGA Ltd. 2. The deadline for the receipt by the Show Secretary of Entry Forms and associated fees for Sections A to K (inclusive) is 6.00pm on Wednesday 14th August. Incomplete entries and / or late entries may only be accepted after this time at the Show Secretary s discretion. No entries will be accepted on Show Day.. The deadline for the receipt by the Show Secretary of Entry Forms for entries by Rainbow, Beaver, Brownie & Cub Groups in Section L is 8.00pm on Friday 26 th July. Late entries may only be accepted after this time at the Show Secretary s discretion. No entries will be accepted on Show Day. 4. Exhibits can be staged between 7.00pm & 9.00pm on Friday & between 8.0am & 11.10am on Show Day. Tables will be provided outside the Hall, for exhibitors to arrange their exhibits prior to bringing them into the Hall. 5. Judging commences at 11.15am. Only Judges, Stewards and authorised personnel will be allowed in the Hall during judging. The Judges decisions are final. 6. Where possible judging will be to the rules of RHS, NCS, NDS, NAFA, BFS and NHS. 7. In any class, prizes will be awarded at the Judge s discretion. No trophy or medal will be awarded unless a First Prize is given. 8. Points for 1 st, 2 nd, rd and Highly Commended are 5,, 2 and 1. In the event of a tie, the trophy will go to the one with the most firsts. 9. A competitor may not submit more than one entry in any single class unless otherwise stated. 10. The WAHGA Show Committee reserves the right to visit, before or after the Show, the ground from which any exhibit has been entered for competition. 11. The WAHGA Show Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without being required to give any reason or explanation. The decision of the Committee shall be final on all questions in connection with the Show and the completion of any Entry Form shall imply acceptance of these

5 conditions.. Any protest must be made, in writing, to the Show Secretary (with a deposit of 5.00) by.00pm on the day of the Show. The deposit will be refunded if the protest is upheld. 1. The winners of the Trophies in 201 must return them in a clean condition to the Show Secretary by 1 st July All horticultural exhibits are to be grown by the exhibitor, with the exception of flowers and foliage used in the Floral Art classes. 15. All domestic exhibits are to be home made by the exhibitor. 16. Handicraft exhibits must have been made by the exhibitor within the previous months. 17. All classes are in open competition, exception class NOVICE - for the purpose of this schedule, will be a person who has never won at a WAHGA Show or another Show, some prize or prizes for that specific kind or a similar type of exhibit. 19. SENIOR CITIZENS CLASSES for the purpose of this schedule, may only be entered by a person who is over 60 years old as at the date of the WAHGA Show. 20. Exhibitors entries may be auctioned at the conclusion of the Show. If an exhibitor does not want their exhibit auctioned, the For Auction stamp on the Card should be struck-out. 21. ENTRANCE FEES 50p unless otherwise stated. No entry fee for children s entries in classes K and L. 22. PRIZE MONEY unless otherwise stated: - 1 st ; 2 nd ; rd and will be issued from.00pm. 2. NO EXHIBIT OR CLASS TO BE REMOVED BEFORE 4.00pm ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW. Any exhibit not removed by 4.15pm will be auctioned. 24. BANKSIAN MEDAL AND CARD - granted by the Royal Horticultural Society. This medal is offered to the winner of the largest amount of money prizes in the Horticultural es, i.e. Sections A, B, C and D, excluding Senior Citizen classes and Novice classes, that is classes 2 to, 47 to 55, 58 to 62, and 65 to 69 inclusive. In the event of a tie, the first in alphabetical order receives the Medal unless he/she has previously won the Medal and the 4

6 other has not. Any competitor who has won the Medal at either of the two previous WAHGA Summer Shows (2011 or 20) is not eligible to win the Medal this year. 25. THE E.G. BAILEY MEMORIAL TROPHY to be awarded to the best onions exhibit in the Show, either in an individual class or within a collection. 26. VEGETABLES. 13 SECTION E FLOWER ARRANGING General Information for Entrants Natural Plant Material Driftwood Modern Exhibit Exhibit An Accessory Bases and Drapes All Exhibits All entries will be viewed and judged from the front. Each exhibit will be allowed a space of 76cm (2 6 ) wide x 61cm (2 ) deep x 76cm (2 6 ) high, unless otherwise stated in the requirements for each. The tables provided for the staging of entries will be covered with a pale sage matt finish fabric. The same fabric will also be used to provide a backdrop for each exhibit. There will not be any partitions between exhibits. Includes fresh, dried, garden, wild or made up plant material flowers, foliage, fruit and vegetables. All may be additionally coloured. Any bark, branch, wood or root in a dry condition excluding seedpods and spathes. Includes Free Form, Free Style, Contemporary, Modern Line, Modern Mass and Abstract Designs. Composed of natural plant material with or without accessories. Anything other than plant material used as part of the exhibit, except bases, containers and drapes. If used, these are considered to be part of the exhibit. All drapes should be free standing. To be judged in accordance with NAFAS Competition Manual, Second Edition 2009.

A handmade or knitted soft toy or doll, or a dressed doll. 95. A sewn item. 96. A picture in oils, water colour, acrylic, mixed media or pastel. Owing to space constraints, there is a limit to the number of entries which can be accepted in this class. Entry Forms will be processed in order of receipt. Exhibitors who apply to enter this class once the limit has been reached will be informed. Please state approximate size of picture on Entry Form. 97. An embroidered item, or a piece of embroidery, or a tapestry. 98. Any other craft not specified in es 9 to 97. Each exhibit must be original, the exhibitor s own work and should not have been shown in any other WAHGA competition.
