4 Section 1 Floral All exhibits must be the property of, and cultivated by, the exhibitor. Exhibitors must provide their own vases, pots etc. Pot plants and bonsai trees must be in the ownership of the exhibitor for at least six months prior to the show. An exhibitor may enter up to two entries per class. Display the name of the variety of the exhibit; if the variety is unknown then the exhibit should be marked unknown. For Class 101, prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place to the value of 10, 5 and 3 will be awarded respectively, in the form of Prize Vouchers for Mr Fothergill s seed products, along with a Garden News prize Certificate for the Winner and the potential to be featured in Garden News The full rules for Mr Fothergills Top Vase Class 101 can be found at on the Exhibitor pages or by post on request. An exhibitor may enter up to two entries per class. You might even win one of two cash prizes! Get your Competition Spud and entry number for just 1 from the Allotment Shop (Lansdowne Road South Allotments) or the Old North Stables on Pitchcroft. Plant in a tub, bag or bucket no bigger than 30 litres, then bring your potato plant, in its pot, to the Transition Worcester stall at the Worcester Show, Gheluvelt Park on Sunday 13th August, from 9:30am to 1pm at the latest for weighing. Results will be announced after 2pm. Prizes 10 for the heaviest total yield from a single spud, 5 for the heaviest single potato grown from a single spud. 6 Section 3 Vegetables & Fruit All exhibits must be the property of, and cultivated by, the exhibitor. Roots of vegetables must be gently washed clean, and should be no more than 100mm (4 ) long. All root crops should be cleaned gently, with tops trimmed to no more than 75mm (3 ) Exhibitors must provide their own plates, baskets, etc. An exhibitor may enter up to two entries per class. Display the name of the variety of the exhibit; if the variety is unknown then the exhibit should be marked unknown. For Class 327, prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place to the value of 10, 5 and 3 will be awarded respectively, in the form of Prize Vouchers for DT Browns seed products, along with a Garden News prize Certificate for the Winner and the potential to be featured in Garden News. 8 Section 5 NOVICE Vegetables & Fruit Entrants into Section 5 Novice Vegetables and Fruit must not have won any first prize in any class in Section 3 Vegetables and Fruit in any previous Worcester Show. Any entrant who has won a total of three or more first prizes in the Novice Vegetables and Fruit Section in previous years will no longer be considered a novice and may no longer enter this Section. 9 Section 7 Cakes & Preserves Please note, the Cakes & Preserves Section will be staged and judged on Saturday 12th August. All exhibits must be made by the exhibitor including homemade pastries, breads, pizza bases etc. Exhibitors must provide own plate and cover for exhibit (excluding jars or bottles). The decorated cake will not be cut but judged on its decoration. Jars may be reused but jars and lids showing trade names are not acceptable. All preserves must have new twist top lids or a waxed disc and cellophane cover. Labels should be stuck to the jar and not loose tied. Full date of making is required on the label. No meat or fish to be used in any dish. In the interests of food safety, no fresh cream. Vinegar proof lids should be used for chutneys and pickles. 10 Section 8 Handicraft Please note, the Handicraft Section will be staged and judged on Saturday 12th August. All exhibits must be made by the exhibitor. Each exhibit will have a maximum display space of 610mm x 610mm, including the frame, unless otherwise stated. Classes 812 and 813 must be framed and ready to hang at the Show. No clip frames. All entries must have been completed within the last two years. Embroidery kits are allowed. If a kit is used, please state it is a kit. Do not re-enter items entered in previous years. Entrants into class 805 NOVICE CLASS Any hand knitted or crochet item, must not have previously won a first prize in Class 803 Any hand knitted item or Class 804 Any crochet item. Computerised work entered into Class 810 Any papercraft item will be discounted. All artists signatures must be covered for anonymous judging. An exhibitor may enter up to two entries per class. 11 Section 9 Photography Please complete the separate Photography entry form and note that all photographs will be judged in advance of the Show, therefore all photographs must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 2nd August. This is to allow time for the judge to write constructive comments where appropriate. All photographs must have been taken by the exhibitor, but may have been processed etc. commercially. No photographs that have been entered previously will be accepted. For display purposes, all prints must be securely mounted on a rigid A4 (210mm x 297mm) board or pre-cut mounts with windows, no frames or folders. Prints may be in colour or black and white (unless otherwise stated). An exhibitor may enter up to two entries per class. There is a range of volunteering opportunities to suit many interests and skills and without the help and support of volunteers the Worcester Show would not be the successful event that it has become. 12 Section 10 Fun & Creativity Please note, the Fun & Creativity Section will be staged and judged on Saturday 12th August. All entries must be the unaided work of the child unless entering classes 1001, 1005, 1009, 1013, 1017, The age of each competitor will be taken into account by the judges. An exhibitor may enter up to two entries per class. Create a picture or collage about your Favourite Season, no bigger than A3. Decorate the border using any medium. 14 General Rules for Exhibitors No entry fee for No prize money - medals will be awarded in each class. A trophy will be awarded for each Section to the exhibitor with the most points. Points will be awarded in each Class as follows:- 1st - 3 points; 2nd - 2 points; 3rd - 1 point. In the event of a tie on points between exhibitors, it will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining most 1st prizes. If they tie on the same amount of 1st prizes, it will go to the competitor with the most 2nd prizes. Alternatively extra half points can be given to an exceptional exhibit. There will be an additional trophy awarded for the Best in Section for the following sections: Photography and Handicrafts. This is not based on points, it will be awarded to the exhibitor with the exceptional exhibit as deemed by the judge in the chosen section. A trophy will be awarded to the Best in Show. This is based on the total number of points accumulated by an individual exhibitor. All exhibits shown for competition must have been grown (other than Section 2 and Section 6) or produced by amateurs only and must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor. An exhibitor may enter up to two exhibits in each class apart from Section 4 for which exhibitors may only enter one exhibit. All entries shall be made on the prescribed form and forwarded to Worcester Show Committee, Worcester City Council, Cleaner and Greener, Warndon Depot, Pershore Lane, Worcester, WR4 0AA or via the Worcester Show website no later than 10.00am on Monday 7 August 2017 except Photography entries which should be no later than 5.00pm on Wednesday 2 August All exhibits in Sections 6 to 10 (except photographs which must be submitted in advance) must be staged from 8.30am to 11.00am on Saturday 13 August All exhibits in Sections 1 to 5 must be staged from 7.30am to 10.00am on the day of the Show. Competitors are requested to leave the marquee immediately after displaying their exhibits. Once an exhibit is in place it must not be removed, rearranged or interfered with in any way, unless permission has first been obtained from the Marquee Steward. Judging will take place from 11.15am on Saturday and 10.15am on Sunday. During the judging, only judges and their assistants will be allowed in the marquee. Prizes in any Section Class may be withdrawn at the discretion of the judges. Any exhibit not in accordance with the schedule rules may be disqualified by the judges. If there is only one entrant in a class it does not mean it receives 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize automatically, this will be up to the judges discretion. In all cases, the judges decisions are final. No exhibit shall be removed from the show until 5.00pm on Show day (Sunday 13th August). While every reasonable care shall be taken of any property of exhibitors, the Committee cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage sustained during the Show. All winners of cups or trophies must agree to return them to the Worcester Show Committee, Worcester City Council by Monday 23 July Members of the general public will not be allowed into either marquee until they are officially opened. Do not enter any craft exhibit that you have entered in a previous Worcester Show. Children may enter any section but they will be judged against adults unless stated in the section details.
