4 HORSE SHOW RULES ENTRIES Entries Close August 19 th. Please No Faxed Entries! Every Exhibitor, rider, driver, handler and trainer or his/her agent(s) must sign an entry blank. In the case of a rider, driver or handler under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign an entry blank on the minor s behalf. Each entry will pay the USEF fee of $16.00 (Drugs and Medications fee $8.00/ USEF Federation fee $8.00), as well as the $2.00 USHJA Zone Support Fee, $25 office fee and $10 medic fee. Opportunity riders will not be responsible for the $16 USEF fee or the $2 Zone Fee but animals are still subject to USEF drug testing. Make checks to WTHJA. Please do not attempt to add at the in-gate! USEF/USHJA CREDENTIALS AND MEASUREMENT CARDS All participants must present to the show secretary current USEF and USHJA membership cards or copies thereof. Amateur certification, and measurement cards for Junior Hunters and Pony Hunters must be presented to the horse show secretary before numbers will be issued. Horses and ponies without a current valid measurement card issued by USEF will be measured by the horse show steward. Check with the horse show secretaries for a measurement schedule. USHJA HORSE REGISTRATION All horses competing in Federation non-breed restricted licensed competitions with hunter, hunter breeding, jumper and hunter seat equitation classes (exception: costume entries and leadline entries) must be properly registered with USHJA. Forms available with the horse show secretaries. GROUNDS FEE A grounds Fee of $25.00 for the duration of the show will be charged for each horse brought and not in a stall. All entries will pay either a stall or grounds fee. Stall fees will not be split between horses sharing a stall. NON-SHOWING HORSE FEE A non-showing fee of $50.00 will be charged for each horse or pony stabled on the grounds and not in competition. Non-showing horses must pay all USEF fees and complete and sign an entry blank with the horse show secretaries. ALL HORSES AND PONIES REGARDLESS OF SHOWING OR NON- SHOWING STATUS - MUST BE ENTERED IN THE SHOW OFFICE BEFORE SCHOOLING IN THE RINGS!! NO EXCEPTIONS!! COGGINS TESTS A Current negative Coggins Test certificate dated within one year must be included with entry. STABLING Permanent stabling of 260 stalls with dirt floors are at a cost of $ per stall. All stalls are approx. 10x10 w/doors. Bedding will be available and may be charged to your account. Stabling is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Stabling will not be available for setup or move in until Wednesday, August 27 th.

5 REFUNDs: Pre-paid Entry fees will be refunded only w/ presentation of vet certificate. There will be a scratch fee equal to the office fee for entries that are scratched after the entry has been processed. Fees for reserved stalls will be charged and/or not refunded after the entry closing date. HORSE SHOW OFFICE The Office will be open by 9:00 a.m. the day prior to the start of the show. The office will open 1 hour before the start of the show each day. No numbers will be issued without an open check or credit card filed with the show secretaries. No Exceptions. RV PARKING RV Parking is available at a rate of $ for the entire show or any portion of the show. Space is limited. RV spots can be reserved with BARNEY MALLACE at: bmallace721@gmail.com or SCHOOLING AND WARM-UP For the convenience of exhibitors, monitored schooling will be allowed throughout the day on Thursday, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at a cost of $15.00 mandatory per horse entered, regardless of showing or non-showing status. Approved hard hats must be worn with chin-straps fastened whenever mounted. No poling or offset oxers will be allowed at any time. FOOTING AND ARENA SIZES All show and warm up rings are made of all weather footing of sand and limestone screenings. North ring 112 x215, South ring 120 x224, Jumper ring 130 x250. CLASSES Management reserves the right to limit entries, alter courses; prohibit or disqualify exhibitors; change, cancel, limit or combine classes at its discretion to compensate for excessive or inadequate entries or due to acts of nature, without claim for damages. OFFICIALS The show committee reserves the right to substitute a show official in the event of failure of an advertised show official to attend this show or perform his/her duties. PROPER ATTIRE All riders must wear properly fitting, approved protective headgear while riding in the designated schooling and exercising areas, the show ring, and while mounted anywhere on the competition grounds. Harness must be secured and properly fitted. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until his headgear is properly in place. Proper attire will be required in all Classics. HUNTER AND JUMPER CHAMPIONSHIPS Hunter Championships & Jumper Championships will be awarded on the basis of points won in classes throughout the section. 1 st =10 pts, 2 nd =6pts, 3 rd =4pts, 4 th =2pts, 5 th =1pt, 6 th =1/2 pt. TROPHIES, RIBBONS AND PRIZE MONEY A trophy and ribbons 1 st 8 th will be awarded in all regular hunter and jumper classes. Prize money will be credited to exhibitor s account and checks, if owed will be mailed within 30 days. COURTESY CIRCLE AND JUMP ORDERS A dotted line may be put into effect at Management s discretion. A rotating jump order will be established and posted for jumper classes. All horses must be ridden in the posted order. Riders and trainers with conflicts due to multiple entries in a class must see the starter so that necessary adjustments can be made.

6 DOGS Germantown has a strict Leash Law, and unleashed dogs are subject to impoundment and their owners fined. The horse show will additionally fine any owner of a loose dog. Fine is $100 for the first incident. Second incident will result in animal being banned from the grounds. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!! ADD-BACK MONEY - $10.00 from each entry will go into the pot. Each class is divided as follows: 1 st -50%, 2 nd -25%, 3 rd -10%, 4 th -5%, 5 th -5%, 6 th -5%. 7 USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3)games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. FEDERATION ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the Federation ) and the local rules of (Competition). I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of Federation rules are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any action instituted against the Federation must be filed in New York State. See GR MOTORIZED VEHICLE STATEMENT Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/ or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

8 DIVISION AND CLASS SPECIFICATIONS Amateur Owner, Amateur Owner 3 3, Junior, Junior 3 3, Small, Medium, Large, Small/Medium Green and Large Green Pony and Pre-Green Hunter Divisions See all pertinent USEF rules. Measurements for horses and ponies will take place at NOON ON FRIDAY. Children s, Adult Amateur, Children s Pony hunters along with Children s / Adult Amateur Jumpers See all Pertinent USHJA zone 4 specs. WIHS, NAL, THIS and ARIAT class specs can be found at Baby Green Hunter WTHJA rules Open to horses in their first season of showing at USEF rated shows. May cross enter into any class 2 9 or under. Modified Children s and Modified Adult Hunter WTHJA rules Open to any junior or nonprofessional adult rider. The horse/pony/rider combination may not cross enter into any class with fence heights of 3 6 or higher. Pre-Children s and Pre-Adult Hunter WTHJA rules Open to any junior or non-professional adult rider. Neither the horse, pony or rider may cross enter into any class with fence heights of 3 0 or higher. Open Short Stirrup WTHJA rules Open to horses and ponies ridden by riders 12 & under. Not eligible for any other classes except equitation and Short Stirrup Classic. Opp. Mini Stirrup Open to any beginner rider. May cross enter into W/T/C Crossrails. Opp. Short Stirrup Open to any beginner rider 12 & under. May cross enter W/T/C Crossrails. Opp. Long Stirrup Open to beginner rider 13 and over. May cross enter W/T/C Crossrails. Open Hunter (all heights) Open to all horses and ponies and riders if eligible based on specs for other classes entered. Beginners are defined as any rider in their first three years of showing. No cross entry between W/T and W/T/C classes. All Hunter classics will have a qualifying round from respective divisions. The qualifying round will be the second over fences class from divisions that are held all on one day or, for divisions that are held on two days it will be the second round from the second day. Riders in the Low Child/Adult Jumper classes may cross enter into the High Child/Adult Jumper classes and vice-versa. However, as per current Zone 4 specs, only one classic may be entered. Low and High classics will count as the 3 rd class towards their division championship. All 3 Horsemanship Classics at this show will be run as 2-phase events. Phase 1 will be a written test which must be completed on Friday or Saturday of the show and taken in the horse show office. The written test will have age-appropriate riding, training, care and horsemanship questions. Tests will be graded and riders will be placed in order of scores. Phase 2 will be on Sunday and will consist of the top 10 entries from the written phase. Phase 2 will be a performance phase and scored as an equitation class. All riders will perform over fences and on the flat and will be given a combined score. Final placings will be awarded based on adding your points from the written phase to your points from the performance phase. Points will be awarded as follows: 1 st 20, 2 nd 14, 3 rd 12, 4 th 10, 5 th 8, 6 th 6, 7 th 4, 8 th 3, 9 th 2, 10 th 1. Ties will remain tied. Special awards will be given. No cash prizes. USHJA National Hunter Derby Open to horses & ponies which have competed in at least one other class at this show. Full class specifications can be viewed at and will be available in the show office in printed form.

9 NEW FOR 2014 $ m Year End Qualifier To be eligible the horse must have competed in at least one 1.0m or higher class at this show. Points won in this classic during the show season will qualify entries for the $15, m Mini Prix to be held at the 2014 Harvest Time Horse Show. The top 15 qualifiers will be eligible for the Nov. Mini-Prix. There will be no entry fee in November for the $15,000 Mini Prix. $500 Pre-Green Classic Takes six to fill. First round score to come from 2 nd over fences class in the division. Classic round will follow Pre-Green on Friday. Add-back Pro / Jr-Am Jumper Special $20 add-back money from each entry. Class will run as a faults converted into seconds class. Each team will consist of one professional and one junior or amateur rider. Riders may compete on more than one team but horses may compete only once. The first team member will take to the course and upon completion, the second team member will begin the same course. Time will start when the first team member begins and the clock will stop when the second team member crosses the finish line. Faults from knock- downs will be converted to seconds and added to the team s total time. Hunter High Score Jackpot $30 add-back money from each entry will pay the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place winners (1 st = 60%, 2 nd = 25%, 3 rd = 15%). Highest scores from all hunter classes on Friday and Saturday will be recorded by judges and winners to be based on the top 3 scores. Ties for first place will hack off for the top placing. All other scores will remain tied. In case of a tie for 2 nd and/or 3 rd, add-back money will be split. You must enter class #600 for your scores to count.

10 RULES FOR OPPORTUNITY CLASSES Opportunity divisions and classes are open to beginning riders and are exempt from USEF and USHJA non-member fees, federation fees and drug fees as long as they do not show in any other non-exempt classes. Horses and ponies showing in opportunity classes are still subject to USEF drug testing rules even though they do not pay the drug fee. Horses and ponies that are shown exclusively in Opportunity classes will not be required to possess USEF or USHJA recording or registration numbers. Once a horse or pony shows in any non-exempt class, USHJA registration ($30 for the animal s lifetime) will be required. The following divisions and classes will count for points toward the MegFord Shows, Hunter s Edge Shows, Oak View Stables and Longreen Hunt Schooling Show Series year-end awards: Mod. Child, Mod. Adult, Pre-Child, Pre-Adult, Short Stirrup, Mini Stirrup, Long Stirrup, Open 18-2, Open 2 3, Open 3, Open 3 3, Open 3 6, Beginner W/T X s, Beginner W/T/C x s,.75m,.95m and High Child/Adult Jumper. For all other ties, time taken to complete the first round will decide, unless otherwise stated in class description. If competitors remain tied, riders must toss a coin for ribbons. There is no nomination fee for any jumper class at this show.
