2 Foreword Following the loss of their father, Gwilym Reynolds, the family at Clungwyn have taken the difficult decision due to ongoing health problems and the need for investment at the farm to disperse the milking portion of this old established herd. Entirely homebred for several decades the herd has a reputation for the superior quality of their animals having a reputation for producing annual crops of heifers and young cows keenly sought when sold either at local markets or, more recently, privately off the farm. Gwilym was justifiably proud of the number of times Clungwyn cattle achieved leading prices through the ring and the glowing reports over following years from their purchasers. Strong cow families were at the heart of their breeding policy being reduced to three in later years al l represented within: Jers Wal, Bet and Mag. However to maintain these strong lines the best sires available through AI were used consistently bringing some of the best bloodlines from the UK and overseas. When a sire did his work well and pleased the breeders further use would be made with Quality Tambuck a recent example putting both strength and milk into his progeny whilst Shottle, Matson, Bluesky and others left pleasing results.
