4 WELCOME Welcome to the 6th Trio Angus Bull Sale & our 14th year of breeding stud Angus cattle. We are very excited about this year s bull sale as we ve made some big changes to benefit our clients. These include: more bulls, the transition to an open auction & the incorporation of AuctionsPlus. We are pleased to be presenting 57 bulls in this year s sale. We have been carefully expanding our cow herd & the result is a strong line up of bulls we are proud to place the Trio Angus brand on. Bruin Uproar & Matauri Reality are new AI sire lines represented in this year s sale. Uproar offers early growth & muscling whilst Reality brings calving ease & marbling. Our calculated matings with these bulls will lead to their sons being high sellers. We are also pleased to be offering Hoover Dam sons for the second time. The combination of calving ease & carcase data they present is the best of any sire line we ve bred to date. Since our last bull sale we continue to receive positive feedback on the performance of the Trio Angus bulls. Seeing the advances & results in our clients herds is our ultimate goal. We are confident the bulls in our 2017 sale are going to continue bringing success to the commercial cattlemen. We will be having a Bull Inspection Day on Friday 4th August from 9am. We encourage you to come along & look through the bulls at your own pace. We will be offering one-on-one sessions again throughout the day to help you with your Bull Sale Cheat Sheet. This will be a great opportunity to learn how to streamline the bull selection process & get more bang for your buck at the sale. Buyers found this to be a very useful tool last year. This year s sale will be an open auction. We would like to thank everyone for their support of the helmsman system we have used in the past, it worked well but we needed to make a change to accommodate more bulls & bidding in a time effective manner. Remember, on sale day that you re buying more than a bull, you re buying a piece of the Trio Angus program. Our program is backed by great foundation females, vigorous herd recording & documented genetic progress. This is combined with our passion, commitment & desire to continually improve. 5 SALE INFORMATION SALE DATE The sale will commence at 1pm on Thursday 17th August Bulls will be penned ready for inspection from 10am. SELLING SYSTEM The sale of bulls will be conducted under normal auction conditions. Buyers must register with the selling agents prior to sale commencement. All bulls are sold GST exclusive. Successful purchasers must give the selling agents written advice regarding payment & transport arrangements at the conculsion of the the sale. EFTPOS payment available on sale day (1% surcharge). AUCTIONSPLUS This year the sale will be interfaced with AuctionsPlus. The online sale will include audio streaming of the auction. Please register 24 hours before the sale if you wish to bid online. OUTSIDE AGENTS REBATE A rebate of 2% will be payable to agents who introduce their clients in writing 24 hours prior to the sale & attend the sale with or on behalf of their clients & settle within 7 days. A rebate of 1% payable to agents who introduce their clients in writing prior to sale day, but do not attend the sale, & settle within 7 days. HEALTH & FERTILITY The bulls are ready for immediate use. They have had the following: Semen tested by Northern Artificial Breeders Vaccinated with 7 in 1 Vaccinated for Vibrio Vaccinated for Pestivirus Drenched with Dectomax The Trio Angus herd is Johne s Beef Assurance (J-BAS) - Score 7. MANAGEMENT The bulls have been running in three management groups based on age. This allows bulls of the same age to be trucked or joined together with less risk. We do not recommend joining younger bulls with older bulls. The bulls have all been prepared on an oats crop. DELIVERY We are pleased to offer free delivery for the first 300km on all bulls purchased in the sale. Buyers may also pick up their bulls on sale day & receive a $200 rebate. For full details on delivery options please refer to the following page. INSURANCE There is no vendor insurance on the bulls. We encourage buyers to insure their purchases, especially those that aren t getting picked up on sale day. Various insurance options will be available on the day. BULL INSPECTION DAY All bulls will be penned for inspection on Friday 4th August, 9-5pm. Refreshments available all day. BULL WARRANTY All bulls are sold as fertile & capable of natural service within 6 months of sale. If a bull should breakdown due to reasons other than injury, misadventure or negligence, Trio Angus will provide you with a satisfactory replacement if available, or issue you with a credit equal to the purchase price minus salvage value. This credit may be used to purchase a bull from Trio Angus in the future. Any request for replacement/refund must be lodged with the vendor within 6 months of purchase & be accompanied by a current vet certificate. SAFETY DISCLAIMER All of the cattle are quiet to handle under normal conditions. However, there are always risks associated with handling cattle. Visitors enter the cattle pens at their own risk. Children must not enter the pens under any circumstances. The vendor accepts no liability for accidents that may occur at the Trio Angus sale or whilst on the property. SALE LOCATION The Trio Angus Bull Sale will be held on-property at Ingleburn 6914 Ulan Rd, Cassilis NSW. From Cassilis, travel 10 kms west on the Golden Highway, turn left onto the Ulan/Mudgee Rd, Ingleburn is 2.5km on the left (map at rear of catalogue). 6

6 REBATES & DISCOUNTS 2% DISCOUNT 2% DISCOUNT Buyers who engage an agent attending the sale to assist with their purchases, and then pay in full on the day, will receive a 2% discount & their agent will receive a 2% rebate. OR Buyers who settle personally & pay in full by cheque on sale day, or EFT within 24 hours, will receive a 2% discount. Payment by EFTPOS also available (surcharge applies). In this case agent rebates are not applicable. AGENT REBATES $200 DISCOUNT A 2% rebate is available for agents who attend the sale with or on behalf of their clients & settle within 7 days. A 1% rebate is available for agents who do not attend the sale & settle within 7 days. A $200 discount per buyer is available to those that pick their bull up on sale day. This year we are offering two different delivery options - pick which one works best for you. FREE DELIVERY We are pleased to continue our free delivery service. This is for the first 300km, but is negotiable for buyers making multiple purchases. All bulls will be delivered within two weeks of the sale. Like always, we will take all care to look after your bull after the sale, but no responsibility can be accepted whilst awaiting delivery. Various insurance options will be available on sale day & are recommended. TAKE YOUR BULL HOME ON SALE DAY Bring your own truck, or organise a carrier, so you can take delivery of your bull on sale day. In return we will offer a $200 rebate per buyer. MORE BULLS We have catalogued 57 bulls this year - our largest sale to date. This will give buyers more options & the choice of larger sire lines. Over the past few years we have been growing our cow herd so we can better meet the high demand for our bulls each year. OPEN AUCTION This year we will be making the transition to an open cry auction. While the helmsman selling system has worked well for everyone in the past we needed a way to offer more bulls & handle more bids in a time-effective manner. We welcome Michael Glasser from GTSM as the auctioneer for our first open cry sale. Michael is a stud stock specialist with many years of experience marketing seedstock right across Australia. AUCTIONSPLUS We are pleased to be interfacing our sale with AuctionsPlus this year. An online catalogue is available on the AuctionsPlus website, along with links to each lots pedigree, EBVs & a video. These individual videos are a great tool if you can t make it on sale day. 49 FEMALES ARE OUR FOUNDATION Bulls are our business, but females are our foundation. For the past 14 years our Angus cows have been very good to us. They have consistently produced every year & this has allowed us to grow the business we love. We started out with a handful of carefully chosen registered cows & from there have slowly built our cow herd to the 230 quality females we will join this year. Below is the background to some of the cow families in our herd. Burnette The Burnette line began with one of the very first stud cows we purchased in We refer to the Burnettes as the workers & today they are still the top producing cow family in the Trio Angus herd. Embryo transfer work allowed us to multiply this foundation line & as a result we ve had over 40 females in production originating from the first Burnette cow. The more the better, as the impact of the Burnette family has had on our breeding program is immeasurable. Our Burnettes breed power & performance, & also have plenty of longevity with the oldest still producing a cracking bull for this years sale at 12 years of age. Lowan We purchased two half sisters from Tucklan Valley Angus to introduce the Lowan family into our herd. The dam of these two cows was a full sister to Te Mania Unlimited, a bull with an outstanding reputation for siring great maternal daughters that are easy keeping with good milk. With this genetic background they have proven to be a quality investment for our program. Fleur The Fleur family originated with the purchase of a cow & calf from Booragul Angus at Gunnedah. This calf went on to be one of the family s first show heifers & from there earned her place in the breeding herd. She left a line of Fleur females that are larger framed, with plenty of real power & performance. We re always excited to see more Fleur progeny hit the ground & they don t disappoint when they go over the scales. Quoll The Quoll family is one of our favourites, they are stylish, with excellent growth & good temperaments. Our original Quoll cow, B57, was purchased with a group of heifers from Outwest Angus near Coonamble. B57 quickly rose to the top & has continued to breed one of the pick calves year in, year out. We have used two of her sons as sires in our herd with great success. Her daughter, D50, is following in her foot steps & bred H8, a bull with progeny in this years sale. Using the progeny of these cows has allowed us to add more of the Quoll family line into our program. Wilcoola The Wilcoola line has been introduced in recent years through the purchase of two females that both go back to the great matron, Ardrossan Wilcoola W53. This cow is a ninth generation donor dam & we spent quite some time looking for the best cow to introduce her genetics to our program. Our Wilcoola females have proved to be fertile, good milking & slick coated. When you invest in Trio Angus genetics you are buying more than a bull, you are buying a piece of our program. These females are the foundation of our program. 50
