Shooters will pay $10.00 to sight-in one gun and $5.00 for each additional gun. The rates apply to both members and nonmembers (it s an annual fund raiser). She has been making desserts for all our shoots at the club and has been working in the kitchen, serving & cleaning. 7 North Bristol Sportsman s Club 7 CHUMS Field Trip Cardinal Heights Middle School Our CHUM s Field Trip, for the Middle School Students in Sun Prairie has been so successful, it has doubled in size, that is good and bad news. We NEED to more than DOUBLE the help we have had previously. We need RSO s and volunteers to man the 22 Range, where 20 students need to shoot in 25 minutes. Trap, same problem, we need to have 2 trap houses open and 4 instructors on each House to instruct and keep the students safe. Archery needs help too, 3 or 4 volunteers The biggest issue we have come across is the HE field test. Rod has 110 students getting certified, and we need to do the field test for that group. I have 12 or 13 available, but would like 20 instructors if possible. Please contact Kevyn directly to volunteer and sign up for any particular task you can help with. Please respond to this individually to let me know what you can do, or with suggestions on how to fill in the blanks. Thanks in advance for your help. We have another few weeks to collect Bucket Raffle prizes, cash and prize donations and sponsorships from companies, vendors, friends and others. We have a signup sheet for helpers too. 9 North Bristol Sportsman s Club 9 Badger Honor Flight Fund Raiser The doors will open at 9:00 am on Saturday October 27, with donuts and coffee for the early arrivals. Members, guests and the public have all been invited for a day of shooting and archery activities designed for fun and a few challenges. The main raffle has over $3, in prizes, including 2 guns and 9 cash prizes. There are also 13 bucket raffles, each with prizes well worth winning. Bring your family, friends, guns, bows and smiles. We ll also be holding one final planning meeting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday the 9th to tie up loose ends. We still need volunteers to staff activities (for an hour or two, not all day) on the trap, pistol, rifle and archery ranges. We ll also need some help (and thoughts) with food service, as well as assistance with ticket sales in the clubhouse. It s all for a good cause so, if you d like to help, come to the club next Tuesday night. 5 STAND LEAGUE The second half of the 5 Stand League finished up, with the Fun Night on Thursday the 27 th. We had a fun group shooting, and even with all the rain outs, we got quite a bit of shooting done. For the next few Thursday nights, in conjunction with the Skeet League and Open shooting, the 5 Stand will be open, weather permitting. It can be shot as the regular 5-Stand, or if you can put together a group of shooters, we can throw 25 or 50 bird flurries. Everyone who shoots those has a great time, it is just plain a lot of fun. See you Thursday s and check with Steve Statz, or Kevyn to get access to the field at other times. There is a chance we will leave it set up for Winter Time shooting. Stop out and have some fun!!!!

10 North Bristol Sportsman s Club 10 The Wisconsin Conservation Congress Could Use Your Help It has been over nine years since we introduced our Wall of Fame education trailer. While this has been a great project the display and operational function has seen better days. A small operational committee has undertaken an overhaul of this valuable education tool to make it more relevant and up to date with the use of video screens and even more interactive displays. Our goal is to make this even more attractive to our members to take to area events. This will help spread the importance of stewardship of our Natural Resources along with Fish and Wildlife management. This will aid Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R-3) goals so vital to the continuation of Wisconsin s long history in resource management. As before our goal will be to make it readily available for our delegates and facilitate the use of this educational tool for any appropriate event. Some of the proposed and past events are: Annual Midwest Outdoor Heritage Education Expo (MOHEE). This year 2,856 students and 561 teachers and chaperones attended the 2 day event. Wisconsin State Fair Deer and Turkey Expo s in Madison and Green Bay Various Learn to Hunt and Fish programs Trappers Rendezvous County Fairs We hope to expand too many other functions through out the state. I mentioned we wanted to make the trailer more available so we have added not one, but two additional trailers to the program. One of which will be located in the Northern third of our state. To help facilitate this we have reached out to many of our external partners. The Outdoors Heritage Education Center (OHEC) has secured a 20 foot trailer that they have graciously offered to share free of charge with the WCC! The DNR Law Enforcement section has another slightly shorter version that they offered to donate to the project. Both trailers are used but in great condition. What we could use: Donations of display materials and or cash would be appreciated. [We as an organization are not set up to secure or spend funds (we can and do raise money from raffles and donations through the Friends of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress (FOWCC)]. We specifically would like mounts of fish, water fowl, and furbearers as examples. We are not asking for trophy sized displays as space is limited just something that you would display yourself. Another consideration is display material that is normally seen in Wisconsin. As an example the offering of a Bighorn Sheep was generous but just didn t fit. If you have a lead on a mount please contact me and attach a picture and I will get back to you (see contact info below). The same goes for a taxidermist willing to work with us. It could be a piece of historical memorabilia like an old arm band for a party permit or a couple of old traps. We have been given an old milk can that was used to stock fish with the words Wisconsin Conservation Commission (predecessor to the DNR) stenciled on the side so we encourage a variety of items.

11 North Bristol Sportsman s Club 11 We also have the ability to get raw mounts through the DNR. We currently have been offered: Snowy Owl Bobcat Bobolink Robin Great Horned Owl We will secure all of the needed state and federal permitting for any display that needs it but the cost of mounting them are what we need the money donation for. We are asking groups and individuals like you for any donations you might be able to help with in this very important project. It might be cash, mounts or a discount on taxidermy costs so please help spread the word. NOTE: The above request is for WCC cost involved in setting up of WCC displays. After this is completed future donations will be directed to OHEC for the ongoing maintenance and support of the project. Thank you for your time and consideration on this request. 12 North Bristol Sportsman s Club 12 R3 R a n d o m R a n g e R a n t s Holy Crap, it s fall already. Hunting Seasons are open. It is still raining all the time. Mosquitos are disappearing one at a time. Plenty of open shooting at the Club. Some little projects still in the works. Stop out and spend some time. Events: The Team shoot was held and went pretty well. Rifle Range and Pistol Ranges are still active. Watch for and help if you can at the upcoming Hunters sight ins. And the upcoming Honor Flight Fund Raiser. The Badger Honor Flight fund raiser is ramping up. Getting some nice door prizes and contributions to give away. Let us know if you have access to donations or sponsors for us to follow up with. Get your raffle tickets while you still can. Take some Raffle tickets to sell to friends and relatives too. Mark your Calendar for Saturday the 27th and get out and have some fun. There will be on site raffles, shooting games and a Trap event. Sooo! Sign up, shoot, and help pull off this event for a worthy cause. Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School, CHUMs, is returning for a 5th year. After last year s school changes, the event had the lowest attendance since its start. That has been fixed, and this year the attendance has over doubled from the original event. The Club is desperate for Mentors, Hunters Ed instructors to do the Field Test, and any other help we can get. We need about 10 additional HE instructors to work 3 hours for testing. We also need 12 helpers to assist with Trap shooting (3) more,.22 Event, (4) helpers on the shooting line. Archery (2) more, to assist with helping students. Could also use 3 helpers at large, to help with Food service and clean up, organizing and misc. tasks. Call or Kevyn to volunteer and chose where you can help , or kevyn@ abcmadison.com. Please get in touch with Kevyn as soon as you can and help fill the many holes created by the fantastic expansion in this really cool event. I continue to see many new faces at the club. Welcome to all the new members, us old timers need to make them feel welcome and try to get to know them. No strangers allowed at the Club. So, introduce yourself quickly, so no one is a stranger. Get as many friends and family to come out as you can. Let s make the Club the place to hang out. Keep Smiling, have a Fun Safe and successful Hunting Season. Take a Kid or Newbie with you this year.
