All values are expressed i 1988 dollars. The easures of hutig effort used to alulate hutig values are fro the Suary Statistis Data Base (SSDB) for the 1987/88 seaso. The followig provides a brief explaatio of what eah of the tables shows ad how the values were derived. Table 1 is take fro the reselts of the 1983 survey of ohutig wildlife ativities: t suarizes the uber of proviial partiipats i the three types of ohutig wildlife ativities. Table 2 is also fro the results of the 1983 survey. t suarizes the total ad average aual uber of days spet i diret ad idiret ohutig wildlife ativities. Table 3 ad 4 give breakdows of estiated expeditures i British Colu,@ia by residet azd oresidet huters for the 1987/88 seaso. The estiates were ade by takig the average daily expeditures fro?. the 1981 survey updated to 1988 dollars ad applyig the to the estiated uber of huter days for the 1987/88 sezso. The estiates of residet huter effort for sall gae, uplad birds ad waterfowl were fro the 1981 s'lrvey sie the Huter Saple is uable to provide a udupliated estiate of effort for these speies. The 1986/87 deer huter days for the Kooteay ad Okaaga regios were used i the alulatios sie the separate saples of ule ad v5itetailed deer huters started i 1987/88 do ot perrr.it a udupliated estiate of deer hutig effort. Table 5 suarizes the estiarred expeditures o ohutig wildlife ativities fro the 1383 survey expressed i 1988 dollars

Table 8 ad 9 shows the average et eoor values of a huter day for residets ad oresidets aordig to regio ad speies. For residet huters, the values a be thought of as the axiu aout that huters.rould be willig to pay if it were possible to harge a daily fee or prie for hutig. the ase of oresidet huters, the values represet the aout that reais after the osts of supplyig goods ad servies to oresidet huters are deduted fro the gross expeditures they ake i the provie. f a ehaeet proposal is beig evaluated for the HCF, the values show i the table are the appropriate values to apply to the expeted irease i hutig effort to deterie the beefits assoiated with the projet. Siilarly, the average daily values a be used to assess foreast losses i hutig effort whe akig a itigatio or opesatio lai. Tables 1 ad 11 show the et eooi values assoiated with residet ad oresidet hutig by speies ad regio for the 1987/88 seaso.
