We have an awesome line up of judges so I hope everyone has started working on their competition pieces. We also have some great seminars planned this year that will be taught by some of the best taxidermist in the industry. We also are doing the children's movie night again this year. This was a fun time for the kids during the auction last year and The NCTA will be providing drinks and food for the kids during this time. We are so excited that Head Quarters taxidermy supply is sponsoring the "Meet and Greet" On Thursday evening again this year! This is always a great time for everyone and the kick off to our summer show every year. McKenzie is sponsoring the BBQ at Tanglewood again this year for Friday lunch! This is always a great time of fellowship and delicious food. For the BBQ if anyone would be willing to fix a few deserts that would be awesome and much appreciated! The Board has been working diligently getting things together for this show. We are asking for any help we can get setting up back boards on Thursday and also breaking them down after the banquet on Saturday night. This will be a great help to all of us! I am excited and look forward to seeing everyone at our 36th annual NCTA show. We have some excited things planned and look forward to seeing everyone in July! Your President Steve Tugwell

Well this is my last year as President of the NCTA and I would like to have the biggest show we have ever had this year. If we get 200 or more mounts at the show I will wear a dress at the banquet and pass out awards and get my Masters Plaque in a dress. Now the rules are actual mounts. Habitat will not count toward this. I know we can do this but I am sure hoping you all don't. LOL. So get to working on those mounts and let's see if y all can get a good laugh on me this year at our banquet. A HUGE Congratulations to these NCTA current and previous members for their wins at THE WORLD SHOW!!! He has released DVD's on mounting strutting turkeys and also judged numerous shows across the Country. Tim will be sharing his experience and knowledge and we look forward to having him judge our show this year. Fish and Reptiles Judge- Terry Weick I have been involved in Taxidermy since the early age of 11. At that time, learning was from trial and error and the Northwest School of Taxidermy correspondence course. Today we are fortunate to have great associations and mentors willing to share the latest techniques. At a young age, I took summer art classes and learnt design and balance. Although I didn t realize till later years, this helped me to pay attention to the detail. During my struggles with Taxidermy I never gave up and always was looking for a solution to my disastrous attempts. In 1990 I joined the Michigan Taxidermist Association and have been a member since. Meeting some very talented people that were will to share, and attending seminars along with competing helped shaped my success. I have run a fulltime studio since 1992 doing all phases of Taxidermy. For the last 10 years I have been fortunate to be a Judge /instructor for many State shows as well as Ontario, Quebec, and in the fall of 2017,New Zeeland and Australia. Competing is something I still enjoy, because it pushes my focus to do the very best that I m capable of. Twenty plus years of attending Taxidermy conventions I have won many awards. But the Best awards are the friendships and connections I have made. I am truly honored to be your judge and instructor for the second time, thank you. Lifesize and Gamehead Judge- Billy Robertson Billy Robertson is definitely no stranger to the world of taxidermy! He has been involved in many aspects of taxidermy over the past 42 years as a taxidermist, instructor, consultant, organizer and judge.

8 Page 8 of 20 Whitetail Judge- Dean Ursitti At an early age, Dean became fascinated with the outdoors, wildlife and the art of taxidermy. Growing up in Southern Maryland he started hunting small game on the farms around his house. He started bow-hunting in his early teens and quickly realized that bow-hunting whitetail deer was his passion. In 1988, he began tinkering with taxidermy, mounting his first deer head. For years, he struggled to get "the look" he so desired in his mounts. He decided to get instruction from World Champion Joe Meder, and take his taxidermy to the next level. After completing the courses with Joe, and competing at various state and Regional Competitions, Deans work improved dramatically. In 1992, he competed at the World Taxidermy Championships where he took Best in World Amateur with his whitetail mount. After years of studying deer and running his taxidermy studio, Dean competed at the 2001 NTA convention where he won the title of National Champion also capturing the coveted Award of Excellence at the same time. In 2003, at the World Taxidermy Championships he took 3rd in the World with his entry. Dean continues to strive for perfection in his Whitetail mounts as he continues to try new methods and pioneer improved results with each mount he produces. With the knowledge of whitetails Dean has accumulated in his 29 years of experience, he has been asked to judge at competitions around the United States. He lives in LaPlata, MD where he owns and operates Creative Whitetails Taxidermy. He mounts all species of animals, but specializes in Whitetail Deer. Original Art Judge- Sara Miles Local North Carolina artist, Sarah Ellen Miles, graduated from Purdue University in 1974 with a degree in Consumer Science. She then pursued her strong interest in various forms of art by attending Virginia Wesleyan College where she studied with a number of outstanding professor, including the well-known Virginia artist Barclay Sheaks. After receiving her degree in art, she continued to study painting with her mentor Mr. Sheaks for over twenty years. She enjoys painting with both acrylics and watercolor pencil. Sarah has had several one-person shows and is honored to have received the top award in the Dare County Arts Council Molly Fearing Show. Sarah is married to the award-winning taxidermist Terry Miles and together they built and until recently, operated the Midway Marina/Motel and Crabbie s Restaurant in Coinjock, North Carolina. Brian Piro Commercial, Amateur & Youth Division: Fish and Reptiles Judge Brian has been a member of the NCTA for over five years. He has earned the award of excellence in the fish category. He lives in Kinston and is a part time instructor at Lenoir Community College where he teaches taxidermy.

He looks forward to sharing with our competitors to help make them better in their field of Bird Taxidermy.
