1 NSW Schools Fencing League Boys Team Foil Premiership 2018 Schedule, Venue and Contact Information Schools participating in the pilot for the NSW Schools Fencing League Boys Team Foil Premiership 2018: 1. Sydney Boys High School (SBHS) 2. Knox Grammar School (KNOX) 3. Saint Ignatius College, Riverview (SICR) 4. St Aloysius College (SAC) 5. Barker College (BARK) Friendly Fencing Exchanges (Friendlies) Schools will host friendlies with other schools over a 5-week period in the first half of the fencing season. These exchanges are organised directly with the partnered school that is scheduled for the week. Host schools are responsible for managing and coordinating the event and may request the partnered school to assist with providing extra scoring and fencing equipment as necessary. The host school is responsible for setting up and packing up at their venue, as they know the best layout to provide a safe space for fencing activities and occupant capacity. Recommended notes: It is recommended that fencing exchanges run from 8am to 12:30pm on the Saturday (allocate 4.5 hours to test conditions for fixtures), but can be negotiated between the partnered schools. The host school should give at least one week notice to the partnered school of finalised plans/logistics before the date of the exchange. Host schools should aim to field as many pistes as safely possible in the venue space and can request the partnered school to assist with bringing extra equipment as necessary. As exchanges are open for any fencer who wishes to participate from their respective school, keep note of the venue s maximum occupant capacity and plan activities accordingly. Some ideas for activities: Combined training activities Mixed team matches King of the hill style matches (winner stays on) Mixed individual poule matches Mixed gender teams: Barker College is co-educational and run a co-ed fencing program. All participating schools have unanimously indicated their support for Barker to submit mixed gender teams. There is scope to assess the possibility for open co-ed competition between all schools upon the conclusion of this pilot program. Opportunity for supporting parents: Host school parents of fencers may choose to assist with providing food/snacks via a sausage sizzle or cake/food stall at their host venue. This opportunity can help build relationships between schools, raise money for the school s respective fencing programs and keep hungry fencers fed. Page 1 of 7

This competition is designed to address the need for students with higher fencing ability to have an opportunity to represent their school in a team and compete in an official interschool team competition. 3 Additional Notes: Please allocate enough time to complete all match events at each venue. Matches can start earlier if both teams and referees are available and willing to proceed. All teams must arrive at least 30 minutes before the first match event to help set up and warm up. All teams must stay until the last match event concludes. Every fixture has three schools attending. A match will be refereed by a member of the school that is not directly participating in the match. A separate document for rules, setup, competition format and scoring will be published before the commencement of fixtures. Venue and contact details for each school: 1.
