Box Ballwin, MO A t our May 9th membership meeting, long time board of director member Syl Biermann resigned from his position due to personal reasons. S y l h a s been a major part of the success and growth of our club. His direction on our board of directors has proven very successful for well over a decade. His work on our banquet, car show and color tour is unprecedented and he has been the Voice of Fords Unlimited for over three decades. Syl will remain active in our club and will still be a force. Our best wishes and thanks go out to Syl and Judy from all of us.

2 June 2018 Page 2 B eside our membership meeting, we have 4 club events and our club cruise scheduled this month. We will start the month on June 2nd with the Coachman Car Show to benefit the Ranken Jordan Bridge Hospital. Fords Unlimited members will meet at the Bandana s on Dorsett at 8:45, leaving at 8:55am. Our next event will be our monthly club cruise held on June 3rd. This is just a relaxing evening to display our cars and have dinner. This month it will be held at the Sonic in Kirkwood located at 1002 So. Kirkwood Rd. Kirkwood, MO from 4 to 7 pm. Bring your lawn chairs. This one is not a club event for points. On the 10th, we will have the Bommarito Military night at the Rascals to support our Veterans. The event will be held at Car Shield Park in O Fallon, Missouri. We will park as a group and will be able to display our cars. We can no longer drive around the playing field since the new improvements have been added. We need to get behind this event sponsored by one of our major sponsors. Kevin Hall of Bommarito was in attendance at our May meeting to explain the fundraiser to our club members. Ticket cost is $13 per ticket with $4 going back to the charity. We will meet at the Burger King located on the north side of Hwy. 70 at Mid-Rivers Drive in St. Peters. We will gather at 4:45 m and will be leaving at 5 pm sharp. The car show to benefit The BackStoppers will be held on June 16th at Dave Sinclair Ford. Our members will arrive at the dealership anytime after 9am. The dealership is located at 7466 South Lindbergh. We need lots of support on this event also. The event has been moved back to June due to the poor turnout last fall. We really need to get behind this event for our major sponsor. We will close the month by attending a new show for our club. On June 24th, we will attend the Kaylee Pritchett charity car show. The show is held at the South County Culvers, 4140 Rusty Road, If you would like to caravan to the show, Fords Unlimited members will meet at the Des Peres Hospital 8:15am and leave at 8:30am L ike the ole light at the end of the tunnel, our car show is coming at us like a speeding freight. In the past we relied on members showing up and working. But as the show has been growing each year, having almost 300 entrees each of the past 2 years. We need commitments from our members to be available to help. Some will wear many hats as there is so much to do that day. We need classification and registration workers, car parkers, raffle and sellers, ballot counters and so on. Our main concern is our concession workers. In the past, most of these volunteers were behind the booth all day. We would like to have two shifts of these workers to relieve some of this work. Don t forget, we have our pre-show BBQ on Saturday, July 28th. It s a good time for our newer to members meet our club. Details will be posted in the July newsletter. Remember, this is your show and we need all of our members to help to make our show the success that it has been.

3 June 2018 Page 3 A new show this year was the Rich Hamlyn Memorial car show that was held at the VFW Post 2593 in Arnold Missouri. The show benefited Camp Hope that honors our fallen by helping our wounded The first time show drew about 140 or so cars and our club was out in force with 13 cars plus one member brought his Camero. The early morning rain may of effected the turnout but the afternoon turned into a sunny day. Four of our members were only in display but we had some winners in the judged classes. Taking first place were Jason Gould and Craig and Calley Brayton. Second place winners included Jake Turnipseed, Deb and Dennis McBee, and Steve Hendricks. Burt Pennington took 3rd place with his Mustang. Shelby Harris won Best Paint and John Bonness took first place with his Camero. Although we had many registered cars, we did not take the club participation trophy, but it was a good showing for our club. 4 June 2018 Page 4 O n May 20th, the Salute to the Troops car show was held at the VFW hall in O Fallon Missouri. Our club has always been a long time supporter of this show and this year was no exception. Unfortunately the threatening weather kept many away. With 17 cars from our club and just a few others, the show was cancelled as the oncoming storm arrived. Club members, Lynette and Scott Lewis appreciated our support and there is a possibility that the show may be rescheduled.

6 June 2018 Page 6 T he Flo Valley car show was held on May 5th in Old Town Florissant. The show had been a club event in the past but with the many problems with the show last year, it was dropped from our club event schedule. Never the less, several of our members did attend and with great results. Dan Kelly took home a 1st place plaque, Jake Turnipseed did the same. Jim and Sharon Richardson were a 1st place finisher, along with Don and Jackie Audrain and John Sullivan. Jerry Grimmer took home a 3rd place trophy and Shelby Harris won best interior. New member, Tom Masterson was able to show his 2003 Thunderbird with our club for the first time. Great day for a car show. O n May 6th, seven of our members participated in the Valley of Flowers parade held in Florissant. Our members in the parade included Ed and Julie Mauzy, Don Audrain, Jerry Grimmer, John Sullivan with Mike McCallister navigating, Paula and Jim Goodrich, and the Kelly family. Ken Lammert was also in attendance with his Edsel and had queen candidate, Victoria Dickson, as his passenger. Victoria is the granddaughter of Dan and Judy Kelly. We thank all of those who represented our club that day. "A big THANK YOU to everyone that brought food to the past two Fords Unlimited club meetings for the Food Pantry. The food was delivered the following day and the Food Pantry was Sooo, Sooo grateful. Thank You everyone! Debbie McGee Last month we had a couple of anniversaries. Burt and Marge Pennington celebrated their 57 anniversary and Mark and Sandra Carey celebrated their 49 anniversary with a celebration at Gallagers in Waterloo. Additions include paint work, chin spoiler, shaker hood, and dash bezel replacement. He was awarded by taking home 1st Place by the Kraftig Beer Company and then won 2nd Place in Best of Show at the Hammerstone 19th Annual Car show.
