Councillor Saito requested that discussion regarding a CPR event in July 2014 on the Square be added to the agenda. Approved as Amended (R. Duquette) DECLARATIONS OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST- Nil CLOSED SESSION Pursuant to Subsection 239 (2) of the Municipal Act, 2001, as following motion: Whereas the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, to the public; holding of the closed meeting vm;;) ~~~,~al~~a Celebration Square Events shall be closed to the public to deal with the A. including matters before administrative tribunals, affecting - South Asian Canada Day (Verbal update from Andrew, Culture) carried at 4:36 pm. Item #12- South Asian Canada Day (Verbal update from Andrew Whittemore, Acting Director, Culture) Paul Mitcham, Commissioner, Community Services and Andrew Whittemore, Acting Director Culture provided background on the application process with respect to the 2014 South Asian Canada Day event at the. Mr. Whittemore spoke to the options that were provided to the event organizer.

7 Events Committee - 2- February 24, 2014 Members of Committee asked questions and commented on the 2013 and 2014 application process. Wendy Law, Deputy City Solicitor, Mr. Whittemore and Mr. Mitcham responded to questions from the Committee. Committee moved out of closed session at 4:50pm. The following recommendation resulted from the In Camera session: Recommendation That the verbal update from Andrew Whittemore, Acting.LJ.Lil'-''-''VL,, Canada Day be received for information. Claire Santamaria, former Square One Marketing Director introduced Mr. Taylor and Ms. Price to the Committee. Ms. Price presented a video of the construction plans at Square One. Tree Lighting 2013 and New Year's Eve 2014 Debrief Corporate Report dated February 13,2014 from the Commissioner of Community Services with respect to the Tree Lighting 2013 and New Year's Eve 2014 events. Karen Ferreira, Supervisor, Events and Promotions spoke to the report and noted that the name of the Tree Lighting event would be changed to "Light up the Square", additional Christmas lights to enhance the experience for visitors to the Square and then ew Year's Eve celebration event time would be changed to begin at 9 pm. Councillor Saito spoke to the recognition of the..lu.u...lu;y;..._..._,... Ms. Ferreira advised that the family was in atte~nd:mc~ ity Christmas tree. in the VIP area. Recommendation That the Corporate Report dated February 13, 2014 Services entitled, "Tree Lighting 2013 and New Year's Eve information. 11 Events Committee - 6- February 24, 2014 OTHER BUSINESS CPR Basic Training Event on the Square Councillor Saito spoke to a CPR basic training event that would take place on the Square. She noted that the event would be organized by the Region of Peel paramedics in partnership with the City. The Square would be an ideal location as the training could be done on the screens. Further, it is being looked at as a Pan Am Legacy event and she requested support from the Committee. Eng., MBA Commissioner of Community Services Events Committee APR 2 8 ;l01~ SUBJECT: 2014 Spring/Summer Calendar RECOMMENDATION: That the Corporate Report dated April17, 2014 from the Commissioner of Community Services entitled, "Mississauga Celebration Square 2014 Spring/Summer Calendar" be received for information. BACKGROUND: As in previous years, staff continues to expand the program offerings at to ensure a wide variety of events and activities to attract residents and visitors alike. The complete schedule of events for the 2014 spring/summer season on the Square is attached as Appendix 1. COMMENTS: New Celebration Square and City Produced Events in FIFA World Cup Brazil Public Viewings Based on the success of the Eurocup 2012 public viewings, this June July Celebration Square will be home to the public viewing of select FIFA World CupTM games. Game days will feature COn Wheels cart as well as a variety food truck themed to coincide with countries participating in the tournament. The tournament begins Thursday, June 12 and concludes Sunday, July 13.

13 Events Committee - 2- April17, 2014 Learn Hands-Only CPR - #IHeartSavingLives On Wednesday, July 9th, prior to Fresh Air Fitness' Zumba class, the City of Mississauga in partnership with the Region of Peel, will host training for participants to learn hands-only CPR; a demonstration of basic CPR tactics. Viva Pan Am Mississauga - One Year to the Games In celebration of the Toronto Pan Am 2015 Games, the Culture Division programs section and the Recreation Division will host a one-year 'countdown to the games' event and concert on Thursday, July 10, Rockumentary Fridays On select Fridays this summer the screens will feature rock music documentaries that showcase some of the world's biggest bands. The series kicks-off on June 27. SoundBites Expanding on 2013's Frosh Week concert, we're introducing a two day food, movie and music festival on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6. The event will feature a food truck rally with more than 30 trucks, an outdoor movie picked by the audience on Friday and a concert on Saturday. New Community Festivals in 2014 Mississauga Halal Food Fest On May 17, Mississauga Halal Food Fest will bring together a variety of Halal food from a wide range of suppliers, who will provide information, education and awareness on the benefits of Halal products. Classics on the Square On July 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this event features a classic car show highlighting the history of automobiles through music and video.

14 Events Committee April17, FINANCIAL IMP ACT: The events produced by are funded through sponsorship, vendor revenue, and the Square's budget for annual programming. Events produced by Community groups are funded by event organizers. CONCLUSION: The 2014 spring/summer events schedule for Mississauga Celebration Square provides a wide variety of exciting cultural events and activities for residents of all ages and backgrounds. The schedule addresses feedback from the public and builds on advice and direction from the Celebration Square Events Committee.
