Important Notice A) Legal Forms: The forms on the website have recently been updated for international programs. As a result, there are some sections that do not apply to RTFs and JB meetings. So, as an exception for this meeting, CISV is asking the youth participants to use the old TWAL Form this time. For APRW adult participants, please also use the old ALIF. C) APRW Office is located in Room #406 of the Central Building in the Olympic Center, and is open from 11:00 to 18:00 on March 18, and 8:30 to 17:00 every day from March 19 to 23. Bag Drop at Shinjuku and Registration at the Olympic Center Bag Drop (March 18, 10:00 ~ 16:00) APRW staff will meet you at the Airport Limousine Shinjuku Station West Exit bus stop and assist you. If you don t take Airport Limousine Bus, you can find more information about the Bag Drop below in Section 4 of this document. If you are to arrive in Shinjuku after 16:00, please go directly to the Olympic Center. Registration(March 18, 11:00 ~ 17:00) at APRW Office, Room #406 of the Central Building in the Olympic Center. If you arrive in the Olympic Center after 18:00 on March 18 and if the Office is closed, please go to the Welcome Party and ask for help to the home staff.. 2

3 - If you are to stay at the Olympic Center, you can drop your luggage (one suitcase per person please) at the Shinjuku Bag Drop from 10:00 to 16:00 on March 18, We will transport the bags from Shinjuku to Olympic Center, while you may spend time in Shinjuku or other places until afternoon, and come to the Olympic Center between 11:00 and 17:00 and pick up your bag there when you register. - The registration counter at the APRW office at Olympic Center (Room #406 (4th floor) in the Central Building) will open from 11:00 to 17:00 on March 18, If you stay outside of the Olympic Center, please bring your luggage to your hotel first and then come to the Olympic Center and visit the registration counter at the APRW office (Room #406 (4th floor) in the Central Building) from 11:00 to 17:00 on March 18, Early or late arrival: If you arrive at the Narita or Haneda Airport early in the morning, we recommend staying in the Airport until 9:00 in the morning, and then go to Shinjuku Bag Drop. - If you arrive at the airport late (after 15:00 on March 18), please go directly to the Olympic Center. - If you arrive at the Olympic Center after 18:00 on March 18, and if the registration counter at the APRW office is closed, please go straight to the Welcome Party and ask for help to the staff regarding registration. - If you come to the Olympic Center on March 19 or later, visit the APRW Office (Room #406 (4th floor) in the Center Building) for registration. 4. Travel tips and others - Weather: The average temperature of Tokyo in March is 8.7 Celsius. You should expect rather chilly weather, particularly for the excursion. APAC participants should be prepared for colder weather during the weekend tour. We may occasionally have rains in March. It would be better to have rain coat and cap. Otherwise, you can buy an umbrella at around JPY500 in convenience stores (like Seven-Eleven shops). 3

4 - Money Exchange: If you want to exchange cash into Japanese yen, please do so in the Airport (Narita or Haneda). There are no money exchange facilities in the Olympic Center or the surrounding area. Further, March 19 to 21 is a long weekend and all banks are closed. If you have an international credit card, you may withdraw Japanese yen cash at Seven-Eleven shops (open 24 hours) scattered throughout Tokyo. The foreign exchange rate is quickly changing now. The range of exchange rates from January to now is US$1.00 = JPY110~ Drinking Age: The alcohol drinking is prohibited for teenagers in Japan. Anyway, no alcohol drink will be offered in APRW/JASPARC. - Tax Free Shopping: For visitors from foreign countries, the Japan government offers a generous tax free shopping. You may have more information at the following web-site: - Electricity: The voltage is 100V. The form of plug is as shown right. All UScompatible appliances can be used without converters. - Price: The price of things may differ from shop to shop. But here are some examples of cost of things: One McDonald s hamburger: JPY100 One can of coke: JPY120 One small souvenir (key chain): JPY300 - Telephone: Japan country code is 81, the Tokyo area code is Bath Equipment: The Olympic Center will not offer bath towel, and some lodges may not be equipped with a hair drier. Bring your own, please. In addition, we would recommend to bring a pair of flip flops or sandals. After taking a bath, usually it's hot and the floor is not perfectly dry so you don't want to take socks and shoes immediately. - Toiletries: The amenities offered for free at the Olympic Center lodge are limited and not necessarily of the highest quality. We recommend to bring your own favorite shampoo, conditioner and body soap with you, if you care. - Internet Access: As explained in Infopack 2, the participants from foreign countries are requested to use the free WiFi, offered by SoftBank. To do so, please get your password by taking steps explained in this website: < - Stationary: Pens and notebooks will not be provided at the APRW site. Please bring your own stationary to APRW. 6. Orientation and Parties The orientation for your stay in the Olympic Center will start at 18:00 on March 18 in the party room (see the map at the end of this document). Please dress up for the party before you come to Orientation to be held in the Party room from 18:00. This orientation will offer very important information about to stay there comfortably, so do not miss it. 4

5 The welcome party including dinner will start from 18:30 immediately after the orientation. We suggest you wearing traditional/ethnic costume. We are planning Japanese traditional performances. The farewell party will be held on March 22, starting at 18:00 sharp, including dinner, and we ask each delegation to prepare a 5-minute cultural performance. Dress code is dress to show yourself. 7. Bazaar There will be a bazaar before the common session in the room for common session. If you want to sell CISV goods or traditional crafts for trading or sale, contact Midori (aprw2016-bazaar@cisv.jp ) to book the table for it. 8. Morning walk We will have a morning walking tour to the nearby Meiji Shrine and other places in the mornings of March 19, 21, and 22. NO SIGN-UP is necessary. Just come to the entrance of the party room building (International Exchange Building) by 6:00 am. Don't be late. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour will take around 30 ~40 minutes. If it rains (or is about to rain), the walking tour may be cancelled without a notice. 9. Week-end Tour for APAC attendants The APAC participants will leave the Olympic Center after lunch at 13:00 on March 19 for the week-end tour to Tateshina mountain area. Meeting Point will be announced during the session. APAC participants, please pack your luggage and vacate your bed rooms in the morning of March 19 and bring your luggage to the first session hour, so that you can depart quickly. You can leave your big bag at the APRW Office (or other room to be announced) if you want. The APAC participants will spend two nights in Tateshina and return to the Olympic Center just before the noon of March 21. Then, they will join the rest of participants to the excursion on the afternoon of March 21. Tateshina is in the mountain so please bring warm cloth and jacket with you. Schedule of APAC is attached at the end of this document. 5

6 10. CISV Orientation Weekend Program Participation fee ($140) of the Weekend Program covers lodging and food from March 19 (from lunch) to 21 (till lunch). Parties and excursion are not included in the participation fee. If you want to join, please sign up at the APRW Office and pay the fee: Welcome Party: JPY 3000 Farewell Party: JPY 3000 Excursion: JPY 500 The schedule of CISV Orientation is attached at the end of this document. 11. Excursion The excursion will be held in the afternoon of March 21. The participants will go to different destinations in small groups of around 15 persons per group. One or two guides will accompany each group. The destinations will be as follows. You will be requested to sign-up one of the tours by March 20 at the APRW Office (APAC participants should sign up before the week-end tour to Tateshina). If you want to go out by yourself or in your own group, please do so taking your own responsibility. 1) Asakusa: The most famous traditional temple and local shops. You must have seen a picture of big lanterns in Asakusa. We will visit the Senso-ji temple, and surrounding area, where traditional gifts are available. We will also stop by the three best photo spots featuring Sky Tree tower. 2) Tokyo: We will first visit the Imperial Palace and (if time allows) Imperial Garden. Then, we will go to the Marunouchi, the busiest business-commercial area, where you can enjoy shopping at high brand shops. 3) Shinjuku: We will first climb up to the observatory of the Tokyo metropolitan City Hall, from where you will see great 360-digree view (well, almost 360). Then, we will visit the Shinjuku Gyoen botanical garden. Finally, we will go the commercial area, where you may enjoy shopping or meet the real-size Godzilla attacking a high-rise building. 4) Ueno & Akihabara: We will first visit the Ueno Park, where a number of museums and zoo are located. If lucky, you may enjoy cherry blossoms there. If we have an enough number of participants, we may split the group into those who stay in Ueno and visit museums and those who skip museums and go to Akihabara. In Akihabara, you can enjoy shopping in Yodobashi, the huge electric and electronic appliance shop, or stroll around in the high-tech junk shop market, or see costume players. 5) Ginza: We will first visit the Kabukiza Gallery, a museum displaying costumes and facilities used for the traditional theatrical performance. (You have to pay the Entrance fee Kabukiza Gallery JPY 600). After that, the participants will be free to walk around in 6

7 Ginza (the main street will be blocked for pedestrians), enjoy window shopping in top brand shops, or enjoy real shopping in department stores, or the big UNIQLO shop, etc. 6) Shibuya & Harajuku: Shibuya and Harajuku are considered as towns for the young generation. You can shout in the famous scramble cross road in Shibuya, see the huge wall painting by Taro Okamoto, visit shops for fashionable teenagers, or one of the largest 100-yen shops (the entire 4 stories building). At the end, the tour may go through the awesome woods of Meiji Shrine. 12. Departure You are requested to vacate your bed rooms by 9:00 and leave the Olympic Center by 12:00 on March 23. There will be no storage service on March 23, because the APRW office must be also vacated by 12:00. If you need help, just ask the staff. 13. Facebook group We have opened a Facebook site below.
