3 5 ECAC AND 2 NCAA A TOURNAMENTS ALEXANDRE STADIUM The most recent addition to the athletic facilities at Washington & Jefferson College are Ross Memorial Park and Alexandre Stadium. Alexandre Stadium hosts the college s men s and women s soccer teams in the fall and the men s and women's lacrosse squads in the spring season, while Ross Memorial Park serves as home to the W&J baseball team. The playing surface is entirely made of FieldTurf, a synthetic playing surface that W&J has used at Cameron Stadium since its renovation in A FieldTurf representative indicates that Ross Memorial Park and Alexandre Stadium combined represent the largest continuous artificial playing surface in the world. The 233,000-square foot playing surface accommodates two full soccer/lacrosse fields. When not in use for soccer or lacrosse, this facility can be converted for use by W&J baseball. The baseball outfield overlaps one of the two soccer fields. Three hundred chairback seats surround Alexandre Stadium in addition to a press box and a state-of-the-art scoreboard. Also, behind the backstop of the baseball field is a two-level structure that houses public restrooms on the bottom level while the upper level will boast a training room, press box area, and a president s box. Ross Locker Rooms (next page) were constructed in 2007 and give both soccer teams the luxury of their own team room, showers, restrooms and laundry facility. 4 2005 & 2007 NCAA A TOURNAMENT ROSS LOCKER ROOMS The newest addition to the athletic complex on site at Ross Memorial Park and Alexandre Stadium is the Ross Locker Room facility. The locker rooms serve as the official home for baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's lacrosse. The locker room facility is officially dedicated in honor of James David Ross, a loving husband, father and coach, thanks to a generous gift from the Ross family. James David Ross served as manager of the Lower Burrell American Legion for 22 years. Ross amassed over 600 victories in his career and led the Lower Burrell program to 17 league championships and eight Westmoreland County titles. His teams averaged over 27 wins per season. The Ross Locker Room facility houses three full-size locker rooms, an athletic training room and an equipment/laundry room. An officials' locker room and a storage area are also located within the fully air-conditioned, state-of-the-art facility.

5 2003, 2004, 2007 PAC P CHAMPIONS 2013 SEASON PREVIEW After narrowly missing out on the last two Presidents Athletic Conference Men s Soccer tournaments, Head Coach Ian McDonald is primed to lead a solid nucleus of veteran players back to the Presidents Athletic Conference Tournament in McDonald is back for his 23 rd season at the helm of the W&J men s soccer program. Last season, McDonald made history by earning his 200 th career coaching victory following a 2-1 win over Franciscan. The Presidents lose just two starters from a 2012 squad that finished in conference play, one spot out of qualifying for a postseason berth. With a core group of nine starters and the prospects of seven talented newcomers, McDonald and his squad will focus in on bringing a title back to the W&J campus. One area McDonald feels confident in is the offensive end of the field. Senior forward Cody Peddicord and junior forward Brian Hanna finished as the top two goal producers in 2012 and both high-scoring players earned selections to the PAC all-conference team. Peddicord and Hanna combined to score 14 goals. Seniors Sam Sestito and Thad Piscatelli also look to provide an offensive touch along with their veteran leadership on and off the pitch. Sestito endured lingering effects last year from an injury suffered during his sophomore season, and hopes to restore the form he displayed his freshman year, where he earned an All-PAC honorable mention. Piscatelli is a quick, hardworking forward who has provided a scoring punch off the bench throughout his career. Sophomores Adam Suter and Paul Hann played well as reserves last year and will be pushing for more time up front or in the midfield position. W&J loses All-PAC performer Jimmy Gante as its top midfielder, but McDonald looks for junior Connor McKenzie to return as a key contributor. McKenzie saw a strong season along the Presidents backline last year cut short by injury. Junior Paul Boerema showed flashes of all-conference type play last season, while classmates Chris Watson, Dylan Small and Kyle Weidman will all be in the mix for significant playing time. Holding down the center back positions once more will be senior Greg Musgnug and junior Nick Vecchio. Both played and started in all 16 games last season and will be expected to provide direction and leadership. The remaining defensive spots should be a competitive affair between juniors James Calvert, who also saw time at midfield last season, and Roman Vukmanovich, sophomore Anthony Sorco and a few newcomers once the team s preseason camp begins Aug. 18. Second team All-PAC goalkeeper Jon Best will be back between the pipes for W&J after posting career bests totals of four shutouts and a 1.34 goals against average. The Presidents goalkeeping position seems deep as Best will by pushed by sophomore Josh Winters and junior transfer Ben Wilt (SUNY-Brockport). Wilt was recruited by the Presidents out of Hampton High School before his two years on the upstate New York campus. McDonald also believes that the Presidents six-member freshman class is loaded with quality talent. W&J opened the 2013 regular season campaign at Alexandre Stadium Aug. 31 with a non-conference matchup against Mount Aloysius slated for 6:00 pm.

7 IAN MCDONALD, HEAD COACH Ian McDonald wrapped up his 22nd season as the head men's soccer coach at Washington & Jefferson College in McDonald s career record stands at (.538). McDonald passed a major milestone when he earned his 200th career coaching victory on Sept. 27, 2012 when W&J downed Franciscan 2-1. The veteran coach has helped W&J claim three Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships (2003, 2004, 2007). The Presidents have competed in seven of the last 11 PAC Tournament Championship matches. W&J has made seven postseason appearances (2 NCAA, 5 ECAC) in history, all of which have come under McDonald's leadership. McDonald has coached the only two ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in men's soccer history in Chris Rihn '96 and Sean Maddock '11. Rihn, a member of the W&J Athletics Hall of Fame, was a two-time Academic All-American Third Team honoree (1994, 1995). Maddock earned second-team laurels after the 2010 season. In 2007, W&J earned the PAC's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and hosted a first-round NCAA match for the first time in school history. McDonald guided W&J to its first-ever NCAA Tournament at-large bid in 2005 and the team set a school record for wins following a 15-6 season. In 2003, Washington & Jefferson captured its first-ever PAC Championship. McDonald is a four-time PAC Coach of the Year, earning the honor in 1994, 2003, 2004 and McDonald has helped the Presidents reach the ECAC Tournament five times (1995, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2010). In 2004, W&J advanced to the ECAC semifinals before falling to Swarthmore. A former pro player with the Pittsburgh Stingers of the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL), McDonald also played in one of the top amateur leagues in northern England from 1976 through McDonald is a 1986 graduate of Davis & Elkins College where he was named a NCAA Division II First Team All-American, an All-South Regional All-American, a 1985 West Virginia All-Conference Selection, and was D&E s 1983 Player s Player of the Year selection. He was named the 1985 WVIAC MVP and was selected to the Budweiser Indoor Senior Bowl All-East Team in Recently, McDonald was selected to the Davis & Elkins All-Time Best 11 Team for men's soccer, spanning the years of 1961 to After college, McDonald worked as an assistant soccer coach at East Stroudsburg University and came to W&J in 1991 as the head men s soccer coach. In 1994, he signed with the Pittsburgh Stingers of the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL), a professional soccer team, in their inaugural season. A native of Newcastle, England, McDonald has been coaching soccer at different levels for 24 years. He is a past member of the PA West Olympic Development coaching staff and holds a NSCAA Advanced Coaching Diploma and USSF Certification. He earned a bachelor s in health and physical education from Davis & Elkins and a master s degree in education from East Stroudsburg. BRANDON EISENHART, HEAD COACH ECAC TOURNAMENTS Brandon Eisenhart embarks on his first season at W&J in as the assistant men's soccer coach. Eisenhart joins the coaching staff after a successful playing career at Susquehanna University. During his collegiate career, he earned multiple all-conference and all-region selections and was a member of the program s first NCAA Tournament appearance. Eisenhart has many years of playing experience as well on the club level. A native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011 from Susquehanna in psychology and German.
