The Saints played the same two teams on the road a year ago, losing to RIT 5-2 on opening night, but coming back with a 10-2 win over a shorthanded Niagara team on Saturday. This is the second home series to open the season in Greg Carvel s three seasons as head coach and the Saints swept the previous home season openers, beating Maine 3-1 and 5-2 to start the season. Coach Carvel is on opening weekend in his first three seasons. THE EXHIBITION GAME: The Saints pulled away from Carleton University for a 5-3 win over the Ravens in the annual exhibition against a Canadian school. The Saints improved to in exhibitions to start the season since Woody Hudson scored two goals, Jacob Pritchard had a goal and an assist, and Mike Marnell and Nolan Gluchowski added the others. Michael Laidley and Brian Ward had two assists each in the game. Kyle Hayton went the first two periods in goal and Arthur Brey played the third. The Saints jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Marnell, who later left the game with an injury, and Hudson, but Carleton, which had beaten the AHL Binghamton Senators earlier in the week, battled back with two goals on odd-man rushes to tie it at 2-2. Pritchard put the Saints back in front with a backhander down low, Hudson scored his second of the night and Gluchowski scored on a bomb from the point for a 5-2 Saint lead. The Ravens added a late goal against Brey to make it a 5-3 final. Statistics from the game do not count in the season record, nor does the victory count in the team record. THE SAINT STAFF: Greg Carvel is in his fourth season as Saint head coach after posting one of the best records for a first-year coach in program history in his rookie season and earning the Tim Taylor Award as ECAC Coach of the Year last season. The Saints mark in is the best for a first-year Saint coach since George Menard went in his first season, Carvel had his first 20-win season and trip to the ECAC semifinals last year, going Carvel was named the second Charles W. Appleton II Head Men s Hockey Coach in the spring of A 1993 graduate of St. Lawrence and a former Saint hockey captain, he joined the staff as an assistant coach in the fall of He is the 13th head coach in program history. Carvel came to the Saints after a 15-year professional hockey coaching career that included assisting coach duties with the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League, helping both teams reach the Stanley Cup finals. He began his professional career as director of hockey operations for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League and joined Anaheim as scouting coordinator in He added video coaching duties to his title in Anaheim in 2002 and was promoted to assistant coach in He joined the Senators in The winner of the ECAC s Best Defensive Forward Award as a senior at St. Lawrence, Carvel graduated with a bachelor s degree in political science and mathematics. He was an Academic All America and a three-time winner of the Brian McFarlane Award for academic and athletic accomplishments. He is joined behind the Saint bench by Associate Head Coach Mike Hurlbut 89, a former All America defenseman who was part of two ECAC Championship teams at SLU and had a 14-year professional playing career and assistant coach Jared DeMichiel, who is in his first season with the Saints after assisting at Nazareth last season. Gm SAINT SUPPORT STAFF: Aisha Visram, a 2007 graduate of the University of Guelph, is in her third season as athletic trainer for the Saint men s hockey team. Mike Elberty, a 1979 St. Lawrence graduate, is the Stradling Men s Ice Hockey Strength and Conditioning coach and Ryan Durocher is the video coach for the Saints. Wally Johnson is the sports information contact and is in his 41st year of working with the Saint program. He also works with the Saint radio broadcasts during games. Dr. Mark Randall, a 1982 graduate of St. Lawrence and a former Saint player is the team s consulting clinical sport psychologist and Scott Dexter is volunteer assistant coach. THE BREAKDOWN: The Saint roster includes seven seniors, seven juniors, eight sophomores and five freshmen. The Saints lost two of their top four scorers, among four graduates and a backup goaltender did not return. Of the 20 returnees, four played in all 37 games last year, and four in 36. THE SAINT CAPTAINS: Senior Brian Ward, an assistant captain last season, takes over as the Saint captain for the season and is the Saints leading returning scorer. Ward had nine goals and 17 assists in 37 games for the Saints last season, his second on the squad after transfering from Dartmouth College. He has not missed a game in his two seasons in a Saint uniform and has 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points in 75 games heading into the current season. Senior Tommy Thompson, who has played in 104 games with 17 goals and 19 assists is one of three assistant captains. Second-team All ECAC defenseman Eric Sweetman, a junior who led all Saint defenders in scoring with five goals and 15 assists and junior wing Alexander Dahl, who had five goals and two assists in 29 games for the Saints last season are the other two assistant captaints. THE SERIES: The Saints are in nine previous meetings with Niagara with just two of the games played at Appleton. The Saints are 1-1 on home ice with the last twin coming in , a 4-3 Saint win. SLU is overall against RIT and at Appleton. Of the 14 total meetings, 11 have been since RIT became a Division I program in and the Saints hold a series lead since that time. The Saints last beat RIT in Canton 4-3 in as the Saints split two games, both with 4-3 scores. SLU is against current Atlantic Hockey teams since the formation of that league in NHL CONNECTIONS: Brandon Bollig (Calgary Flames) and Mike McKenna (Arizona Coyotes) were the only Saints playing in the NHL last season with a number of players playing in the AHL, ECHL or other professional leagues. Rich Peverley recently retired as a player in Dallas after being sidelined by an irregular heartbeat. McKenna spent most of his season in Portland last year while Bollig played in 62 games for Calgary after two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. A host of former players hold significant positions in the NHL. Former goaltender Jacques Martin was the head coach of the Montreal Canadiens and is special assistant to the head coach at Pittsburgh. Ex-defenseman Randy Sexton, former GM at Ottawa and Florida, is now with Pittsburgh as director of scouting.. Bill Torrey, who has a long history of management success in the NHL, was in charge of the search for Martin s replacement as GM in Florida, is the Panthers Alternate Governor and is a member of the NHL Hall of Fame. Former Saint captain and Pittsburgh GM Ray Shero is now GM at New Jersey where long-time scout Paul Castron, a teammate of Shero s is now director of Amateur Scouting. Dan LaPerriere is a pro scout for the Colorado Avalanche, Mike Barnett is senior advisor to the president and general manager of the New York Rangers and is a former Pheonix Coyotes GM, Mark Leach is a scout for the Detroit Red Wings, and Mark Bonneau is a vice president with the Ottawa Senators. Teddy Dent is the coach of the Chicago s top minor league club in Rockford while former defenseman Matt Macdonald took over as head coach of the Cincinnati Cyclones last season. Former Saint player Jamie Baker, who had a 10-year NHL career, is the color commentator and SLU graduate Dan Rousanowsky is the play-by-play announcer for the San Jose Sharks. Mike Keenan became the first coach to win the Stanley Cup and the Kontinental Hockey League championship when he won the Gagarin Cup with the Metallurg Magnitorgosk team in Russia in Peverley became the first Saint to have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup as a playing member of the championship team when the Bruins won the cup in June Bollig joined him (along with Dent) in when the Blackhawks won the cup.

3 PLAYER PROFILES 2 Eric Sweetman Jr. Defenseman Woodbine, MD Youngstown (USHL): Eric scored seven goals and had 11 assists for 18 points from the blue line in 63 games for the Youngstown Phantoms. He was plus-three for the season and had five special teams goals, three on the power play and two shorthanded. In two seasons at Youngstown he scored 11 goals and had 19 assists in 123 games. He attended Ursuline High School and played lacrosse, helping his team to a state championship. He is the son of Mike and Linda Sweetman : Made his collegiate debut in game one against Maine and assisted on Patrick Doherty s game winning goal for his first collegiate point. Scored his first collegiate goal on the power play in game two at Ferris State. He had his first career multi-point game with assists on two of the three goals at Harvard and added an assist at Dartmouth. He finished his rookies season with three goals and 12 assists for 15 points and played in all 38 games. His first career playoff goal was the game winner in overtime in game one of the Brown series and he assisted on two other game-deciding goals : Was a second-team All ECAC selection. Fourth overall and tops among defensemen in scoring with five goals and 15 assists. Had a two-goal game at RPI and a career high three assist night in a home win over Brown. Scored his fifth of the year in the ECAC semifinals against Colgate. Had five multi-point games, best among Saint blueliners. Finished the year plus-21 to lead the team in plus-minus and was second in blocked shots. He was tied fof fifth overall among all ECAC defensemen in scoring. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 3 gm / / Ben Masella Jr. Defenseman Montreal, QC Chilliwack (BCHL): Ben Masella joined the Saints from the Chiliwack Chiefs of the BCHL where he scored three goals and had eight assists for 11 points in 54 games. The team went and allowed less than three goals per game in The son of Beny and Janet Masella, he attended Deerfield Academy and played hockey for the team which won the Deerfield Academy Cup : Made his collegiate debut in game one against Maine and had an assist. Played in 12 games as a rookie : Scored his first collegiate goal as part of a two goal, one assist night in his first game of the year at Niagara. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 1 gm / / Mike Graham Jr. Defenseman Toronto, ON Kent School (US Prep): A defenseman who was MVP of the Kent team as a senior, Mike Graham was first team All New England for a team which finished as runner-up in the New England prep league. He scored five goals and had 14 assists. The son of Mike and Cathy Graham, he also played golf at Kent : Mike made his first collegiate appearance in game two of the Maine series. He scored his first collegiate goal against Union and it was the game winner as the Saints were the last team to beat the Dutchmen prior to their run to the national title. He played in 18 games as a rookie, missing several due to injury : Scored his lone goal of the year in a 5-4 win over Miami. Had three assists in 23 appearances. Career vs. Niagara: no appearances; vs. RIT: 1 gm / / Gavin Bayreuther Jr. Defenseman Canaan, NH Fargo (USHL): A defenseman who was named to the USHL All Rookie team while playing for the Fargo Force, Gavin Bayreuther scored nine goals and had 24 assists while helping his team to the Western Conference championship. He earned All New England first team honors in both hockey and lacrosse while playing for the Holderness School in 2012 and also played soccer for Holderness. He is the son of John and Jessica Bayreuther : The ECAC Co-Rookie of the Year and a second-team All ECAC defenseman, Gavin was one of the outstanding young defensemen in the nation last year. He was third in the country in scoring by defensemen with nine goals and 27 assists, and the top-scoring rookie defenseman and fifth overall among all rookies. He had six power play goals among his nine for the season and assisted on three game winning goals : Selected as a pre-season ECAC All Star and is the only sophomore among that group...one of two sophomores selected as one of college hockey s impact defensemen for Was the second leading scorer among Saint blue lines with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points and scored four game winning goals. Tied for fifth among ECAC players and was the top defenseman in game-winners He had 29 blocked shots and was plus-eight for the season. Seventh in overall scoring among ECAC defensemen. Scored the game-tying extra attacker goal against Colgate in the ECAC semifinals to force overtime. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 3 gm / / Nolan Gluchowski So Defenseman Wixom, MI Sioux Falls (USHL): Nolan scored three goals and had 22 assists in 58 games for Sioux Falls last season. He was a member of the state championship team at Detroit Catholic Central and a firstteam All State selection in 2012 and a second team choice in He also played baseball. He is the son of Paul and Jill Gluchowski : Named to the ECAC All Rookie Team and was eighth overall among defensemen in scoring with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. Scored his first collegiate point with an assist in game one at RIT and scored his first collegiate goal at Niagara in game two. Missed the next eight with an injury, but did not miss a start the rest of the way. Had two assists in game two of the ECAC series with RPI for his first post-season points. 4 9 Alex Hagen Sr Forward Bronxvville, NY Surrey (BCHL): The first second generation Saint player since Andre Dalbec, who played in the and seasons, Alex is the son of former Saint forward Kevin Hagen 82 and his wife Caroline. Kevin was a three-year regular for the Saints. Alex scored 43 points in 57 games for the Surrey Eagles in the British Columbia Hockey League prior to joining the Saints The MVP at Choate-Rosemary Hall in 2009, he had 20 goals and 23 assists for Surrey : Made his collegiate debut at Western Michigan...he scored his first collegiate point with an assist at Northeastern...he was injured in the Colgate game returned to action against Vermont. He played in 34 of 38 as a rookie : Alex was named the Saints Most Improved Player for after scoring four goals and assisting on five in 32 games as a sophomore. He scored his first collegiate goal in game two of the Northeastern series and had his first multi-point game with a goal and an assist. Recorded his first collegiate post-season point with an assist on the game winner in game two of the Brown series : Played in 18 games including all three playoff games. Had an assist in each of the RPI quarterfinal games. Had a goal and an assist in game two at Niagara. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 4 gm / / Ryan Lough So. Forward Manotick, ON Green Bay (USHL): The Green Bay Gamblers team MVP in 2014, Ryan scored 19 goals and had 23 assists in 60 games last season. He had 11 special teams points inlcuding five short handed goals and six game-winners. Prior to playing for Green Bay, he was a member of the BCHL Island Division Champion Alberni Valley Bulldogs and earned that team s Bob Fenton Trophy for sportsmanship. He also played rugby and baseball and Athol Murray College of Notre Dame and earned the Chancellor Frederick W. Hill Scholarship and was a Dean s honor roll member for grades He is the son of Steve and Gigi Lough : Scored his first collegiate point with an assist at Niagara. His first collegiate goal came in the 5-4 win at Miami. Had three goals and five assists in 36 games with two multi-point games. Career vs. Niagara 1 gm ; vs. RIT 1 gm / / Ross McMullen Sr. Defenseman Las Vegas, NV Camrose (AJHL) An outstanding defenseman for the Camrose Kodiaks in junior hockey, Ross scored three goals and had seven assists in 20 games. He was a high honors graduate at Advanced Technology Academy and played for the Boston Junior Bruins on an Empire JHL championship team prior to his season with Camrose. The son of Brian and Lynn McMullan, he intends to major in economics and Spanish. He is the first player in program history from Las Vegas : Made his collegiate debut in game two of the Western Michigan series and played in 14 games as a rookie : Made his first appearance of the season in game two at RIT and scored his first collegiate goal. He played in 11 games as a sophomore : Ross did not play in any games for the Saints as a junior. Career vs. Niagara: no appearances; vs. RIT: 1 gm / / Sean McGovern Sr. Forward Milton, ON Surrey (BCHL): A junior standout for the Surrey Eagles, Sean McGovern scored 19 goals and had 20 assists for 39 points in 59 games in his final junior season.. A graduate of Taft and the hockey team MVP in 2011, he also played lacrosse in prep school. The son of Kevin and Elaine McGovern he intends to major in economics. His father played collegiate hockey against the Saints at Concordia in Montreal : The Saint team Rookie of the Year, Sean played in all 38 games, recording eight assists in He scored his first career point in a 5-2 win at Northeastern and assisted on a pair of game-winning goals including the winner in the RIT game which was the 1000th win in program history. He also had an assist in a 2-1 win at nationally top-ranked Quinnipiac in February : Scored his first collegiate goal on a breakaway in the Cornell game. He played in 19 games as a sophomore and had a goal and an assist : Sean had his best year as a Saint in his junior season, scoring seven goals and assisting on seven others. He had a two-goal night in a win at Brown which started a three game streak in which he scored four of his seven goals. He had a career-best five game scoring streak. Career vs. Niagara: No appearances; vs. RIT: 3 gm / / Woody Hudson Jr. Forward Greece, NY Chicago (USHL) Woody Hudson split his final junior season between the Indiana Ice and the Chicago Steel, finishing the year with 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points in a combined 65 games. He had 14 goals and six assists and was captain of the Indiana Ice. The son of Woodruff and Wanda Hudson, he attended Milton Academy and was part of the 2011 New England Championship team. He also played football and lacrosse at Milton : Made his collegiate debut against Maine in game one and scored his first collegiate point with the primary assist on Brian Ward s goal. Scored his first collegiate goal in game two at Ferris State. He had his first multi-point game with two assists in game two of the Northeastern series. Scored his first ECAC goal in the first period at Yale. Scored the game winner in game two of the playoff series against Brown. Had six goals and five assists ins 37 games as a rookie : Woody scored six goals and assisted on six others in his sophomore season. He had a goal and an assist in game two at Niagara and had a two-goal night in a 6-3 win over Dartmouth at Appleton Arena. He picked up his first post-season assist in the RPI series. 5 14 Alex Dahl Jr. Forward Eau Claire, WI Youngstown (USHL) The team captain for the Youngstown Phantoms Alex Dahl scored 11 goals and had 13 assists in 64 games in his second season in the USHL. A teammate of defenseman Eric Sweetman, they helped the team set a franchise record for wins with 37 in The son of Kirk and CIndy Dahl, he was a Kurt Hammer Award nominee and also played baseball and football in high school : The winner of the Kevin Dougherty Scholarship for the class of 2017, Alex had a strong rookie season for the Saints. Recorded his first collegiate point with an assist in the Colgate game. Scored his first collegiate goal in game one of the RIT series. He finished the year with two goals and eight assists in 33 appearances : Alex played in 29 games as a sophomore and scored five goals with two assists. He had two game winners...at Dartmouth and in game two of the quarterfinals against RPI. He also assisted on the game winner in a 2-1 win at Clarkson. He was the Saint Ronald C. Hoffmann Award winner as the outstanding male scholar-athlete in the freshman class and was also the Saint candidate for ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 3 gm / / Matt Purmal So. Defenseman Merrill, WI Green Bay (USHL) Matt was an assistant captain and the best defenseman award winner for the Green Bay Gamblers. He had two goals and two assists in 54 games for Green Bay and had prior junior hockey stints for Wichita Falls in the NAHL and Fort McMurray in the AJHL. He played football and ran track at Merrill High School and is the son of David and Kelly Purmal : Scored his first collegiate point with an assist at Brown and his first collegiate goal in a 3-0 win at Princeton. Finished his rookie season with four goals and two assists in 23 games and was plus-10 for the year. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 1 gm / / Michael Ederer Fr. Forward Lancaster, NY Merritt (BCHL) Michael had 21 goals and 28 assists last season for the Merritt Centennials in the BCHL. He was named the Most Gentlemanly Player Award winner. He also had an outstanding prep career at the Nichols School, earning Most Improved Player honors as a freshman. He made the All Tournament Team at the Northwood Invitational. He also played baseball and earned the Coaches Award at Nichols. He is the son of Dave and Michelle Ederer. 17 Drew Smolcynski So. Forward Hatfield, PA Chicago (USHL) A teammate of Woody Hudson on both the Chicago Steel and Indiana Ice, Drew Smolcynski combined for 20 goals and 25 assists between the two teams in his final year in the USHL. An asssitant captain for the Ice, he scored 15 goals and had 28 points in 44 games in Indianapolis. He had seven power play goals, three shorthanders and two game winners in 65 games. Drew played soccer and golf and earned rookie of the year honors in hockey at the Gunnery. The son of Andrew and Patricia Smolcynski, he was an honor roll student throughout high school : Had a spectacular collegiate debut, scoring two goals including the game-winner in a 3-2 comeback at Ferris State. Earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors. He scored his third of the year and had his first collegiate assist in game one of the Northeastern series. Missed time with injury, but finished a solid rookie season with five goals and six assists for 11 points in 25 games : Drew got off to a great start to his sophomore season with a goal and 12 assists in 22 games, but was sidelined for the rest of the year by an injury sustained in a win at Harvard. He had a four point night, all on assissts, in a win at Niagara and started the year with a five game scoring streak. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 1 gm / / Jacob Pritchard Fr. Forward Macomb, MI Powell River (BCHL) Jacob scored 39 goals and had 37 assists for 76 points for the Powell River in the BCHL. He was the fifth leading scorer in the league and had 12 power play goals, three shortlanded and six game winners. He also had 16 power play assists. He was a member of the USHL Clark Cup Champions for Indiana in He attended Lutheran High School North in Macomb and played golf. He is the son of Larry and Debbie Pritchard. 19 Mitch Eden So. Defenseman Bracebridge, ON/Prince George (BCHL): Mitch Eden had nine goals and 32 assists in 55 games for the Prince George Spruce Kings in his second year with the club. He attended Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School and also played lacrosse. A honor roll student, he is the son of John and Debby Eden : Mitch played in 22 games for the Saints as a rookie and had a goal and two assists. He scored his first collegiate goal in a 2-0 win at Ferris State and it was the game winner. He scored his first post-season point with an assist in the semifinals against Colgate. Career vs. Niagara: no appearances; vs. RIT: 1 gm / / Joe Sullivan Fr Forward Las Vegas, NV/Indiana (USHL): Joe had six goals and 16 assists in 58 games for the Indiana Ice last season and was a member of the Clark Cup championship team, the Silver Stick Regional Champion team and was a member of the NAHL West Division Champions in the NAHL splitting the season between Aberdeen and Wenachee. He attended Central High School and was a National Honor Society member. He is the son of Michael and Marie Sullivan : Joe Sullivan scored six goals and assisted on five others in 36 games as a rookie and four of his six goals were game winners. He scored the winner at Brown, in a 2-1 win at Clarkson, in a romp over Union and unassisted against Dartmouth. Career vs. Niagara: 1 gm ; vs. RIT: 1 gm / /

6 21 Tommy Thompson Sr. Forward Londonderry, NH/New Hampshire (EJHL): Another product of the EJHL Champion New Hampshire Monarchs, Tommy Thompson had 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points in 43 games. He scored three power play goals, two shorthanded and three game winners as the Monarchs went to win the Northern Division and went on to win the playoff championship. Career vs. Niagara:1 gm ; vs. RIT: 4 gm / / Christian Horn Sr. Forward Plymouth, MN/Sioux Falls (USHL) : Christian Horn played 50 games between the Tri-City Storm and Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL last season and scored 23 goals with 24 assists for 47 points. He was on the roster at the University of Minnesota in , but did not play in any games. He has two years of collegiate eligibility for the Saints. He was a member of the Minnesota state champion high school team at Benilde St. Margarets and is that school s second leading scorer and first all time in assists. He attended three national development camps in hockey. Also a standout in lacrosse, he led the team in scoring in three of his four seasons on the team and was first team All State, helping the team to two state titles. He received the Athletic Director s Award as the best male athlete. He is the son of Janice Steinhauser and Ron Horn : Made his first appearance in the Miami series and scored on his first shot as a Saint with a power play goal to open the scoring in game one. Assisted on the game winner at Yale. Had a goal in each game against Yale and Brown, scoring the tying goal on a power play with 1:13 left against Yale. His goal against Brown and Sean McGovern s pass to set it up was a NCAA Play of the Week. He was captain, MVP, leading scorer and All Conference in high school for Benilde St. Margaret s. He also played soccer in high school and was a honor roll student. He is the son of Mike and Suzanne Steinhauser : Patrick did not see game action in his rookie year. 24 Brian Ward Sr. Forward Haverhill, MA Tri-City (USHL) Captain Brian Ward began his Saint career as a sophomore after starting his collegiate career at Dartmouth. He was unable to play for the Big Green due to injury and played for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL in He scored 22 goals and had 32 assists in 42 games and was plus-10 in the plus/minus ratings for the Storm. He attended Governor s Academy where he also played lacrosse and football. He is the son of Robert and Mary Ward : Brian Ward had an impressive debut for the Saints, scoring a goal in each game including the game-winner in Saturday s 5-2 victory. over Maine. Had a point in each of the first four games and started his career with a three game goal streak. Set up the game winner with his second assist against Dartmouth. He finished the year with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points which included two power play goals. He had three points, all on assists, in the playoffs and scored in four of his last five : The leading scorer for the Saints, Brian had nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 37 games. Scored the Saints first empty netter of the year against Cornell at Appleton. Had a goal each night in the Dartmouth-Harvard series. He assisted on the game winner in overtime against Yale. Forward Little Current, ON/Aurora (OJHL) Mike scored 10 goals and had 15 assists in 46 games for the Aurora Tigers a year ago and had a two season total of 33 goals and 26 assists at Aurora. He was a member of the Central Region Midget AAA Gold Medalist team in 2012 and President s Cup Winner for the CJHL with Team East in He was team captain of the Aurora Tigers last year and captain of Team Canada East at the World Jr. A Challenge in He was an Ontario Scholar Award winner throughout high school. 7 26 Mike Marnell So Forward South Huntington, NY DesMoines (USHL) Mike played two seasons at Des Moines and had 14 goals and 10 assists in 44 games last year. He was a member of the national championship under 16 team and the Catholic State Champion St. Anthony s team in 2012, earning the high school Hobey Baker Award. He also played golf in high school and was a honor roll student. He is the son of Russ and Sue Marnell : Had a goal and an assist in his debut at RIT and also scored a goal at Niagara, the first Saint freshman to score goals in each of his first two games since Brock McBride in Mike earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors for the Yale-Brown home series, scoring the overtime winner against Yale and adding a goal against Brown. He attended Shattuck St. Mary s and played soccer and lacrosse, earning high academic honors. He is the son of Lewis and Kristen Hayton : Hayton had a record-setting season for the Saints in his rookie year, establishing Saint marks for goals against average (1.95), save percentage (.937) and shutouts (5). His Twitter acount was listed among the 59 Must Follows for College Hockey Fans on SBNCollege Hockey. He had a string of 12 straight two or less goals against average games snapped when Dartmouth scored three in the Canton meeting between the two teams. He had a 1.46 goals against average and a.952 save percentage at Appleton Arena. His 18 wins were the most for a Saint goalie in the regular season since Richie Broadbelt won 19 in He broke out a long awaited new mask with a St. Lawrence motif for the start of the playoffs and set the SLU record for shutouts in a season with his fifth in game one of the RPI series. He earned a CISAA Championship with the Nichols School were he was on the All Tournament teams at Northwood and St. Francis. He also played football and baseball at Nichols. He is the son of Rich and Julie Gicewicz. 29 Kyle MacDonald Jr. Goaltender Hanover, MA Bay State (EJHL) The Boston Herald Goalie of the Year and a three-time Catholic Conference All Star while playing at Xaverian Brothers High School, Kyle MacDonald also played junior hockey for the Bay State Breakers in the EJHL. While he was limited to five games by injury in his final junior season, compiling a 2.59 goals against average and a.919 save percentage, he had a 2.63 goals against average, a.927 save percentage and went in 20 games in for the Breakers. He led his high school team to three Super 8 appearances, the first in school history, was was captain of the Eastern Massachusetts champion baseball team as a senior. He is the son of Andy and Mary Beth MacDonald : Kyle MacDonald played in three games in a backup role as a rookie and will push for more playing time in his sophomore season.
