2 Thank you for showing interest in the Columbia Valley Rockies Junior hockey program. Throughout the following pages we hope to answer any questions you may have about Junior hockey with the Columbia Valley Rockies! Wade Dubielewicz is a Canadian retired professional goaltender, who last played for the Cologne Sharks (Kölner Haie) in Germany. He has played for three NHL teams during his career: the Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild and the New York Islanders. After tending goal for four years at the University of Denver, Dubielewicz was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Islanders on May 26, He joined the Islanders' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, where he became a fan favorite at the Arena at Harbor Yard, home of the Tigers. "Dubie" holds numerous AHL league records that still stand. He holds the AHL/Sound Tigers records for most shutouts (15) and wins (81) in a career, and highest save percentage (.946) and goals against average (1.38) in a season ( ); passing the records of Rick DiPietro. Dubielewicz won the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the top rookie in the AHL for Wade has been coached by Ken Hitchcock, Ted Nolan, Guy Cronin, Claude Noel, George Gwozdecky & Kevin Costantine. "As a young person, perhaps leaving home for the first time, it will be a difficult experience. My objective as Coach is to pass on my hockey knowledge and teach hockey skills; help players develop to their full hockey potential & help them understand what it takes to achieve at the next level. Part of the program is also to help players develop into more of the adult phase. Some of this is achieved by the team being involved in the community and developing an understanding of the role they play in creating good relations with both adults & youth in the community. By easing them into the community through team functions, they will develop self confidence and be more prepared for future endeavors." Wade

His current duties with the club include on---ice coaching, practice planning, video breakdown, game analysis, pre- --scouting, prospect scouting, recruitment, and implementing tactics and systems. Graeme Anderson- President & General Manager Our Director of Hockey Operations, and Rockies President is Graeme Anderson Graeme recently retired from a 28 year career as a Police Detective, with specialist training in covert operations; major crime investigation; and intelligence - He currently works for the BC Government's Ministry of Justice in a Public Safety Oversight role. He has a strong background in problem solving; team building, public relations, and communication. On becoming a part of the Rockies organization Graeme formed part of a small core group who sought to construct a program best suited to the needs of our Hockey Club in creating a more viable platform for developing Players, while providing a source of entertainment and pride to the Communities along the Southern Columbia Valley. The framework for change, and now developed program, implemented by this group have brought the club to the point where we have developed quite a number of players to college, higher levels, and in some cases to European Hockey and provided a focal point for youth and community to once again take pride in their team. In addition they founded a continually improving program which develops not only people as better hockey players; but hockey players as more active contributors in their communities. This helped us to succeed in our goal to provide positive mentorship, life skills; and enhanced options for the future, to the players who joined our team. Graeme has subsequently continued to develop a network of contacts across North America, Europe and beyond in order to assist in the development of players beyond the junior level. As President of our Club, Graeme also serves on the Board of the KIJHL. His wife Noelene is also one of our Directors; and both play a major role in organizing our Billet Homes; Team off Ice Activities, and Team Building Events. Noelene also operates our Media and Merchandising programs. He also coached minor baseball until Ross became a BC Hockey District Evaluator in 2006, assistant coach for the Rockies in 2010 and the GM in He also was a carded Level 3 Official until Ross helps organize the Columbia Valley Old-timer s hockey tournament which is a large fundraiser for local youth. 7 Rockies Pride When you play for the Rockies you are representing the Columbia Valley Rockies organization. The team has worked hard to increase the profile of Junior hockey in the Columbia Valley and beyond. New players in our hockey program will continue to enhance this image. Players, therefore must conduct themselves like professionals at all times, on and off of the ice, at home games and on the road. Players are asked to arrive at games following the dress code. Respectful, class, and sportsmanship are three words we want to hear when people talk about the Rockies hockey team. Community Involvement The Rockies have previously been awarded the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy Award for Athleticism and Literacy in the Community for the 1:1 reading program with Eileen Madson and Edgewater Primary Schools. This program is on going, and also encourages the school children to participate in sporting activities. Perhaps the most popular relationship that the CV Rockies enjoy is with Windermere Valley Minor Hockey Association. The 'Seventh Rockie' joins our starting line up for home games. The Novice and Initiation groups, who entertain our fans with scrimmages between periods at some home games, are also mentored and coached by players from our team. Exposure The Columbia Valley Rockies hockey program receives exposure through many different avenues throughout the year. The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League website is available for in depth stats and standings to be viewed at all times during the course of the season: This website also has links to the internet coverage of home and away Rockies games. The Rockies can be found on the internet at with our day to day activities and news being posted on Facebook at with a further online photo gallery on Instagram. Live news and game updates are available by following us on and Instagram.

8 Goals for The Rockies Program is built around the following attributes: Respect Teamwork Honesty Ambition Good Communication On and Off Ice Conditioning Skill Development Personal Development Community Involvement Mentorship We believe that by fostering these in our Players we shall create opportunities for both them, and our Team. What types of players the Rockies are looking for... and not looking for: To ice a winning hockey team the Rockies are looking for certain types of players to fill out their roster. Fitting these requirements is a must. Players who dedicate themselves to the team by attending all games and practices through the season. Playing hockey for the CV Rockies is a privilege and roster spots are only offered to a special group of talented hockey players. We want HOCKEY players...players who love the game. Players who hate to lose and have a will to win. This makes everyone's time at the rink a success. We are seeking players who care about hockey as much as we do. We want only the most dedicated! We have high hopes for this program and are looking for the most talented hockey players to help us reach our goals. Our Vision: We've made great strides building our program over the past few seasons, but as always, there is room for improvement. W e are working hard over the off-season to improve our program and enhance all areas that can be better, based upon a self audit which solicited feedback from players, player families, billet families, staff and volunteers. We have also added scouts in additional areas, and are working hard with them to ice the most competitive team possible for 2017/18. This is balanced by our main priority of player development We know it is more important to develop our players both in their hockey and personal skills, than to focus simply on competitive achievement. We believe that if we develop our players and team properly, then success in all fields will follow.
